A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 21 – 30

Chapter 22

The door opened and Adrian walked in with Olive Garden’s takeout in one hand.

“Vixen?”
He smiled at Vina.

“Fancy meeting you here.”

“I wish I could say the same for you.”
She said taking my seat.

“Hey, feeling better?”
He asked Tristan as they did their signature handshake.

He walked to where Vina was sitting and squatted in front of her.

“Hey, buddy.”
He touched his cheek and looked up at Vina.

“What?”
She asked with a scowl.

“Let’s have our own baby.”
He said and winked at her.

“Yuck.”
She gagged.

I laughed softly as I watched them, I was already shipping both of them.

Someone touched my hand, I looked down at my hand and saw Tristan intertwining our hands.

“I’m sorry, sorry for ruining everything for you. I really missed you.”
He said softly with sad eyes.

I smiled at him and gave his hand a light squeeze.

“I missed you too, some parts of you.”
I whispered.

It was the truth, Kayden reminded me so much of him and there was no denying I missed our time together, both good and bad.

We both took a glance at Kayden who was too busy sucking from his bottle to care about Adrian and Vina arguing.

Tristan was being discharged today, he wasn’t fully healed yet but he was better.

I was staying at Sanchester’s Mansion till the whole investigation was over and the person was behind bars for good.

Eduardo helped Tristan to his room while I remained in the living room, Nora took Kayden away to take selfies on her snap chat.

My phone rang almost making me drop it, it was an unknown number.

“Hello.”

“Chloe, it’s Detective Emily.”
My heart stopped beating.

“Hi, do you have the person?”

“Yes, could you come over to the station? I have something to show you.”

“Sure.”

“Great, I will be waiting.”

I called Vina and told her to pick me up.

“You really don’t think that maniac should know about this?’

“He is still recovering, I will tell him when I get back.”

“Do you think Grey it’s behind everything?”
I asked her not taking my eyes off the road since she was eating and driving.

“Yeah.”
She said without giving it a thought.

“Vina, he is our friend.”

“I know but ever since you got back from Cuba he’s been acting weird.”

“How?”

“I don’t know, he just seems off. He doesn’t even like talking about Gabriella, he gets mad every time I ask about her.”

“True,” I agreed.

The rest of the ride was quiet, I took a deep breath as we walked into the building.

Detective Emily took us into her office.

Detective Emily took us into her office.

“She is my best friend.”
I told her when I saw the way she was staring at Vina.

“I know, she was one of those we interrogated.”

“So, who is it?”
I asked leaning on the table.

She dropped three photos in front of us. We both leaned closer not believing our eyes, actually, I was more shocked than Vina.

“Told you.”
Vina whispered.

“Grey?”
I stared at the picture of him removing his mask, in the second picture he was getting out of the car with a gun, the last picture he was walking into the woods.

“We got those pictures this morning, we’ve been searching every street camera. He drove all the way to another City to discard his weapon and change his clothes, he also dumped the car somewhere.”

I was still speechless, I was trying to analyze everything.

“It seems Mr. Ashton has been following you around or should I say stalking you.”

My jaw dropped as I picked the pictures.

Pictures of me knocking on Mrs. Porter’s door, pictures of me playing with Kayden, a red X was on Kayden and a picture of me speaking to Tristan outside the Diner, there was another red X on Tristan.

The one with Kayden was taken when he was one.

“He has known about Kayden for a long time, he’s been following me,” I said looking up at her in disbelief.
I always felt watched but I thought it was just me being paranoid.

“He already pleaded guilty to all the charges.”

I tried to stop my tears but failed, Vina took my hand.

“Can I talk to him?”

“Are you sure you wanna do that?”
Vina whispered and I nodded.

“Sure but you only have five minutes.”

I followed her to the visiting section, I took a seat and waited for Grey.

A cop dragged him to the room, the look on his face was stoic. He took the seat in front of me and looked me in the eyes.

“Why?” I asked him.
He smiled and snickered.

“To end it all, I was sick of waiting for you, Chloe. I thought after everything that ba$tard did to you, you’d come back to me but no, you were carrying his baby which ruined all my chances with you.”

“How did you find out about Kayden?”

“I was curious about why you always return late from work and why you were avoiding me, I decided to follow you one day and I saw it, I saw the ba$tard…”

I $lapped him across the face, thank God the cop outside didn’t hear it.

“He is not a ba$tard, he is my son!” I exclaimed.
He sneered shaking his head.

“He is going to end up like his father, a psychopath!”
He spat.

I clenched my fists, I badly wanted to break his nose and smash his face on the table.

“You’ll never be happy with him, Chloe. I wanted to do you a favour by getting rid of them. I waited for you Chlo, Gabby was just an excuse, I have no feelings for her. It’s always been you, I love you, Chloe.

I can’t sit by the corner and watch you create a family with him. I wanted to end it all; if I can’t have you no one will.”

“I hope you rot in jail!”
I stood up.

“He will only hurt you, Chloe, he doesn’t deserve you!!!”
He screamed after me.

I ran into Vina’s arms immediately I got outside.

“How did it go?”

“I don’t wanna talk about it.”

We spoke to the Detectives before leaving, Vina decided to stop at the Diner.

We ordered the usuals and took the booth at the back.

“He was still in love with you, it was the perfect opportunity for him to win you back after what happened with Tristan but…”

“He wanted to kill Kayden? Who would want to kill an innocent baby?”

“Grey.”
Vina answered even if she knew it was a rhetorical question.

“I guess he couldn’t stand the thought of you two getting back together.”
She picked the strawberry at the top of her cup and took a bite.

There was something on my mind, I wasn’t sure about telling Vina. Everyone knew about Kayden already, they also needed to know about his twin.

I thought I would never bring it up but they had to know. I still regret my decision and I couldn’t go back and change it.

“Kayden is a twin, he has a sister.”
I said quickly not looking at her..
She stopped drawing her drink from the straw and spat everything on me.

“You gave birth to twins?!”
