A NIGHT’S MISTAKE
EPISODE EIGHTEEN

Everyone glared at Mr Brooke and I stood directly in front of him, looking questioningly at him.
As expected, he acted ignorant. “What the h*ell are you talk about?” He shrieked.
” We saw you kill her. Ma’am Anna.” I said and everyone gasped.
” Alex..no!” Mom yelled and I looked at her.
“Why,mom? Any other secrets? I can’t believe you kept this all away..all these years!” I shouted.
Mom began to weep. ” Tell us it’s not true…. did he really…. killed her?”
” He did and why are like this! Is there something I don’t know!” I was crying now.
” Alex..calm down…then you will know what’s going on.” Ryan said quietly.
” Take this man away! He murdered my mother!”
Someone said furiously from behind. I turned and saw Daniel running in with a knife.
There was pandemonium in the air as everyone fled. Daniel looked so crazy as he went for Mr Brooke.
But the police were fast enough in grabbing him. He screamed madly as they handcuffed his hands.
“Shut up!” Yelled one of the police as he gave him a punch.
Blood sputtered out of Daniel’s mouth but they didn’t stop him from becoming vi0lent.
How did he escaped from the hospital?
“I’m gonna kill you! I’m gonna kill you!!” Daniel raved.
Everyone was in the compound now…. looking frightened.
Mr Brooke was handcuffed .”Darla! I will come out as soon as possible and come back for you and my kids! I will make it up to you! I promise!” He yelled as they took him away.
I stood,dazed. What did he just say?
I glared at mom. “What’s he saying, mom?” I gasped.
“Alex….I…I…can explain. I will tell you all that happened…” Mom stammered.
I shook my head, refusing to make some sense out of what I was thinking about.
Is..Mr Brooke my father? No… that can’t be.
There has to be another kid somewhere.
Just then Chloe arrived and rushed towards her brother. “Daniel…. please!” She cried.
“Don’t make me more angry,Chloe. I want to kill him…he killed our mother!”
” No….mom….is not dead. She has been revived. And she’s in the hospital right now. Don’t do this please.” Chloe begged.
Daniel suddenly went still. ” She’s…not dead?” He asked quietly.
Chloe smiled and nodded. “Let’s…go see her!” She said and like a baby,Daniel quickly followed.
” Not too soon,buddy. You have some unfinished business with me.” Ryan said, coming forward.
?RYAN?
” Mr Man….you have to head back to the cell.” One of the cruel police men said as I went closer to Daniel who stood abruptly at my approach.
“A minute sir. I need to make this r@pist say the truth. Right here…this minute.” I said, looking straight into his eyes.
Daniel glared back, defiantly.
“There is nothing to say to you, Ryan. You did it..”
Before he could complete his statement,I grabbed the front collar of his shirt with both hands, ignoring the fact that he was mentally not okay. “Tell them what you did! How you tried raping Alex and how I came to rescue her. Tell them she hit you out of defense!” I yelled angrily.
Daniel’s eyes widened as he shook with fear. He was visibly shaking. “I…I.. don’t know what…you are…”
“Oh of course you know,Danny. I was the one who hit you when you tried raping me!” Alex says, stepped beside me.
I dropped my hands off his shirt and moved back. “You guys are keeping an innocent guy here. Go rescue your father instead!” I said bravely.
Daniel glared down and looked at the police men. “Let him go.” He said slowly.
I smiled with relieve. ” At last.” I said and inhaled deeply.
“Daniel,come on.” Chloe said, tugging him .
Daniel nodded and followed his sister out of the premises.
Someone held my hand from behind and I turned to look…..the woman who I knew as my mom all these years. It was strange now.. looking at her.
“I..know you hate me now but please do t leave me.” She cried.
Alex’s mom drew nearer. ” You should be ashamed of yourself, Ariel. You should be.” She said.
” Someone please..tell me what’s going on here.” Alex said slowly.
I turned to look at her,then grabbed her wrist. “Let’s go.” I said pulling her away.
“No” Alex snapped with anger. “I’m not going anywhere until someone tells me what’s happening here.
Why was my mom hugging you the time I came in? She even had tears in her eyes. Say something,mom!” Alex yelled.
” You have a twin….Alex….I…told..you.” mom said, trying to hold me.
” You told me….so where is she….or he?” I asked,my heart pounding fast all of a sudden.
” He’s right here…. beside you.” Mom dropped the b0mbshell.
My knees buckled and I suddenly wanted to faint…..
???????
Now the truth is out.
Is it gonna change anything??
