Chapter 28
The wizard circled Andra twice and then stood by her feet, he stared at her for a while with his hands in his pockets before replying “I said she can be brought back to life if she wants to”
“How?” I asked him.
“The wand of life” he answered.
“Huh? I’ve only heard about the wand of light in barbie cartoons” Nicky whispered to me. I twisted my brows at her.
“You are only being polite to me now because they’ve found a way to bring back your grand daughter” I snapped at her.
“Hey” she nudged me and we both giggled.
“What is the wand of life?” Mum asked the wizard.
“Darius stop calling me ‘the wizard’, you know my name” he playfully spat at me.
“Sorry sir” I apologized.
“What’s his name?” Nicky asked.
“Ajezirai Dafirutus” I replied.
“Actually can we keep calling him the wizard?” She pleased, everyone chuckled a little.
“Call me Zirai” The wizard, I mean Ajezirai stated.
“Much better” Nicky replied.
“OK, now can we focus on Her” I pointed at Andra.
“Right, your mother asked me what the wand of life is..” Zirai started “it is a wand that brings back an innocent blood which was killed by the mirror, let’s call it an antidote. But it only works if the deceased wants to return”
“How do you mean?” I asked him.
“The wand of life can be activated by an incantation and then it fades into the land of the dead and finds the person it was sent to, if the person touches it, he/she will be brought back to life by the wand, but if the person ignores it, the wand will return after 10 minutes..” He explained.
“And what will happen to the person?” I asked him anxiously.
“You will have to bury the person” he shrugged.
“But what if the person doesn’t know that the wand was sent to her?” Nicky asked.
“Not my problem” he replied.
Nicky gritted her teeth in anger.
“Chill dear mermaid, I didn’t make the rules” zirai said to her.
“Let’s get the wand first and hope that Andra touches it” mum suggested.
Good suggestion.
“Where do we get the wand of life?” I asked Zirai.
“This is the instruction ‘when you feel like you’ve offended Lafiti, plead for forgiveness and then look behind for the Wand Of Life’, that’s all I know” he stated.
“You definitely know more than that, you just don’t wanna tell us” Nicky fired at him, he shrugged and laughed.
“…beg for forgiveness then look behind for the wand of life” I remininced on it.
“Who’s gonna do the begging or should we all do it?” Nicky asked.
“If you feel like you’ve offended Lafiti, beg forgiveness then look behind for the wand of life, that’s all I know” Zirai repeated.
“Aahh, gush you are so annoying” Nicky groaned at him, he laughed.
I walk to the mirror and pleaded. “Please Lafiti, the goddess of life of the sea, I know you’ve been offended by being fed with a bad blood, please forgive, it was an honest mistake that shall never be repeated”
FINDING REMEDY: Chapter 21 – 30
Few seconds later the mirror shined like diamond, it sparkled lights all around it.
“Do you think she accepted?” I asked Zirai, he shrugged. Nicky removed her shoe and threw it at him but it bounced back instead, everyone laughed.
“OK, Alex now look behind” my mum instructed.
I gradually turned and looked behind me, but I only saw empty field with crowd at the end of the field. I felt weak.
“No, didn’t it work?” I asked Zirai.
“It worked” he replied nonchalantly.
“Then why didn’t I see the wand when I looked behind?”
“Because you weren’t supposed to look at your own behind” he replied.
“What are talking about” Nicky asked.
Zirai didn’t reply her, I thought about it over and over and then it dawned on me.
“It’s a brain teaser, I wasn’t supposed to look at my own behind, I was supposed to look behind the mirror” I stated and turned the mirror over, though the wires were still connected to it but I managed to turn it over.
FINDING REMEDY: Chapter 21 – 30
I felt the surface and noticed it could move, I pulled on it and it surface pulled off revealing the inner part of the mirror and inside it laid a 10 inch sillver stick with a little orb on it’s head. I brought it out and showed everyone. They gasped in shock.
I took it to Zirai, he collected it from me, he made some incantations that I don’t think I can interpret, after that he said to the wand “bring Andra home”
The wand faded away. I guess it has gone to the land of the dead.
“Do you think she will touch the wand” Nicky asked me in fear.
“Let’s hope she does” I replied.
