HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 1 – 10

Chapter Ten

GRACE POV

“Dylan??”.I shrieked in shock as I squatted beside him.

His hair was messy and his fists were fisted together, his veins in his neck were visible and I realized he was probably struggling with something or someone but whatever or whosoever he was struggling with caused him great pains.

“Dylan?”.I called again, hesitating to touch him but when I couldn’t control the urge, I touched him but suddenly removed my fingers from his skin when I felt something.

Cold! His body was cold and seems lifeless.

“Dylan!!”.I screamed pushing him so that he would wake up.

My heart was pounding so hard in my chest and am sure that if he was conscious, he would probably hear it.

“Grace, what are you doing h..”.Kyree was saying as he walked in but suddenly paused on his track.

“Oh My God! What happened?”.He gasped as he rushed over to Dylan body on the floor.

“I do..n’t k..now, I j..ust he…ard a noise and I c…ame here on…ly to fi…nd him on the f..loor. I don’t kn..ow what happe…ned”.I stammered, feeling tears gather in my eyes.

Oh! I need to control my emotions or else am gonna get an attack again.

“Hey, it’s okay. Maybe he just slipped and fell, that happens”.He said and I nodded trying hard to push back the tears in my eyes but I almost failed, one wanted to slip out of my eye but I quickly stopped it.

“Now, am gonna check if he is still breathing, if he isn’t then I will have to go call the security but if he is…then we will take him to the school clinic, huh?”.He said trying to brighten me up with his smile but darn it, I couldn’t delete the sadness off my face.

He squatted close to the unconscious Dylan and rested his head on his chest, the side where the heart resides.

He stayed that way for what seem like hours while I kept hoping Dylan is still alive.

“It’s confusing Grace, I don’t hear his heart beat but fortunately, he is still breathing”.Kyree finally said as he took his head away from Dylan’s chest while I smiled happily.

“We should take him to the school clinic or any other medical place here, we can’t waste anymore time”.I said as I tried to lift him up, Kyree joined me and together we both lifted him up.

Kyree carried him but ended up shaking badly.

“Dammit! He is so strong”.He huffed and dropped back Dylan gently on the floor. If not for the condition we were both in, I would have rolled my eyes.

“Then come on Kyree, go get some help”.I was almost at the verge of yelling but he didn’t take it as an offense, he quickly left the restroom.

I turned back to Dylan but still time I couldn’t stop myself from crying, just his face caused me tears.

So cold! So lifeless! So breathless! That was all I could see in him.

His body was growing pale and his veins were popping out, I wondered what happened.

Cause this definitely wasn’t a fall, something else happened, something bigger.

And even at his unconsciousness, he still looked so handsome and cute. I couldn’t stop myself from admiring him.

HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 1 – 10

This was the third hour after I met Dylan unconscious in the male restroom and thanks fully, he was brought to the school clinic by three students including Kyree and I.

He was still unconscious but am glad he is now okay. A doctor and two nurses had attended to him an hour ago and they left instructing us not to cause any noise.

I stared at Dylan’s face as he laid on the hospital bed and I smiled sadly. He was alright now, I was at peace.

“Hmm..”.A nurse cleared her throat as she walked into the ward with a syringe on her right hand.

I immediately rushed to her.

“Nurse, any idea about what caused his unconsciousness?”.I asked but she just stared at me blankly.

I sighed, awaiting her answer.

“It’s complicated but all I can say from the test we conducted earlier is that his sudden unconsciousness wasn’t caused by a fall, it was more like a reaction from his body which affected his heart. His heart isn’t responding to the treatment conducted and it’s surprising, though we are trying our best to wake him up but still, his problem is very critical. He should visit a very professional doctor after all this”.She said and walked to Dylan’s sleeping body before injecting him.

“It’s okay Grace, he will be fine”.Kyree said with a small smile on his lips.

He and Jane have been here with me for sometime. Jane only stayed for a reason known only to her and she still refuses to speak to me.

She eyed me scornfully when her eye met mine and then she opened her mouth.

“It’s surprising or should I say shocking…”.She said and I and Kyree turn to face her. We were surprised, this was the first time she was speaking since she came here. Though, I was sure she came only to see Dylan and admire him.

I could remember how she began ruffling Dylan’s hair with her fingers and the look of hurt flashing in Kyree’s eyes as he glared at her.

I couldn’t understand why she would do that in the presence of her boyfriend but well, I never asked why.
