Chapter Two
GRACE POV
I groaned loudly as soon as my eyes went opened.The thought of attending a new school today was making me feel nervous. Geez! For some reasons,I kinda regret leaving Nigeria.
I stood from the bed and went to the bathroom yawning so heavily.I really wanted to sleep back but you know,I will be late for school.
After applying the whitish toothpaste on my toothbrush,I took it into my mouth and began brushing.When I was sure my teeth and tongue was clean enough,I rinsed my mouth and the toothbrush.
Then I walked back to my bedroom to remove my clothes before I wrapped a towel around my unclad body.I went to the bathroom thereafter for a warm bath.

After taking my bath,I went to my bedroom and selected the clothes I was gonna wear.
Actually the school is a no – uniform school unlike my former school in Nigeria and that made it look so cool.
I quickly wrap my braided hair in a bun,trying to untied my towel but suddenly I heard..
“Hey,Grace!”.I instantly tightened my grip on my almost loosed towel as I glared at the intruder.
David!
“You should learn how to knock, Mister”.I said glaring deeply at him.
He was putting on a classic T shirt,a short that hardly reaches his knee and white sneakers.And oh! Did I forget to add that he wore a silver coloured necklace on his neck.
“I did but miss sleepyhead was too dumb to hear me”.He said and I frowned.
“Don’t call me that,Dave”.I said a bit harshly but I immediately swallowed back that tone.
“Oh really? Why wouldn’t I call you that when you wouldn’t get out of bed at 7:30am”.He said and I gasped,glancing at the wall clock on my room.
The time was now 7:40am and dad had said that the school closes its gate at 8am.Great!
“Leave my room,Dave”.I said and he rose his eyebrows making him undeniably cute.
“Why do you want me to leave?”.
“Cause I need to wear some clothes and am sure you don’t want to see me naked.Do you?”.I said losing patience already.
“Of course I do”.
“What!”.I yelled.
“Gee,am just kidding. I will leave now”.He laughed and walked away.
“Crazy”.I muttered and pull off my towel when I was sure he was out already.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 1 – 10
I walked to the living room after dressing up. There I saw dad but didn’t see mum or Dave.
“Good morning dad”.I greeted him and he nodded in approval.
“How was your night,Grace?”.He asked changing the channel he was watching earlier on the TV.
“It was fine dad,thank you”.I sat on a sofa,resting my eyes on the TV.
“You should go join your brother eat breakfast. Am sure you haven’t eaten”.He said and I felt surprised.
Dave is eating and didn’t inform me? Well I know I sent him out of my room but he should have at least informed me that breakfast was ready or something.
“Okay dad”.I tried not to sound angry as I walked out of the living room,heading to the dining room.
There, I saw Dave already eating and I sat close to him opening a covered bowl.There was food inside probably meant for me.
“Done dressing up?”.He asked with a smile on his lips as he spooned some boiled rice mixed with stew into his mouth.This was made by mum I guess.
“Of course yes”.I said not wanting to bring up the topic about him not informing me that breakfast was ready.
While eating, I held my phone on my palm and searched for my new school here in America.
Dad said that the name of the school was ‘Springs Academy’ and that it was one of the most popular and expensive school in the country.
After typing the words ‘Springs Academy’ on the search box,I waited for it to load and before the count of four it loaded.
I saw the images of the school,it was very beautiful.
After eating,I went to join Dave and dad who was waiting for me in the living room. Well,Dave was the first to finish eating.
“Come on! Let’s go”.Dad said obviously in a hurry as he walked out of the house.
“We are now latecomers,Grace”.Dave smiled at me before leaving the house and I shrugged following him from behind.
When we were out of the house,dad opened the front car door and got into the front seat.Without being told we knew what to do,I and Dave opened the back car doors and sat on the back seats.
Mister Liam already opened the gate and was waving happily at us as dad turned the car into motion to……..Springs Academy.
