Chapter Five
GRACE POV
The next day came in a flash and I quickly prepared myself for school. I bathed, brushed my teeth and wore a light pink top and dark pant before I packed my hair in a bun,then I grabbed my backpack and exited the room.
“Good morning mum”.I greeted when I saw mum in the living room sitting on a sofa.
She held a coke drink on her left hand and her right hand were busy caressing her grown stomach. Yeah she is pregnant, her pregnancy is almost eight months old.
“Good morning Grace, how was your night?”.She sighed taking more sips from the coke drink. She was obviously tired..
“Fine mum, it was fine”.I said roaming my eyes around the living room.
“Where is Dave?”.I asked,realizing that he wasn’t in the living room.
“Oh! Dave is taking his bath”.She answered and finally dropped the now empty coke can on the table.
“Sleepyhead”.I chuckled but was cut off.
“You are the sleepyhead, I woke up before you did”.Dave said, his shoes making slight sounds as he ran on the stairs.
Today, he wore a yellow top and white pant with strips of black, he also wore a pale yellow sneaker with few strips of white.
Dave is a very big fan of sneakers just like me but he is obsessed with it. He can’t stay a day without putting it on, I just don’t know why he loves it so much.
“Liar. I woke up before you did”.I said eyeing him playfully.
“Geez! I won’t argue with you, you can ask mum. I was in my room writing an assignment before taking my bath while you were busying sleeping like a baby”.He laughed silently and I turned to mum who was watching us talk.
“Is that true,mum?”.I asked her and she nodded.
“Yes Grace, he woke up before you did”.She said and I scoffed with a frown on my face.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 1 – 10
The drive to school didn’t take too long, we arrived in school in less than ten minutes.
“Good bye Dave and Grace”.Mr Lucas said as we got out of the car.
Ever since we got into the car, he have been asking us about Africans,their cultures and their ethnics. He is a really funny person and we had laughed at his questions.
“Yeah, bye”.I and Dave waved at him before he drove out of the school.
“Now,we path ways again”.Dave muttered and I chuckled before we went to our different classes.
Immediately I got to class, Jeanann ran up to me with a smile while her friends frowned glaring at me from their different seats.
“Hi Grace”.Jeanann said smiling so widely.
“Hi Jean”.I smiled back and we went to her seat.
I sat my butt down on her seat and kept my backpack on my thighs. I should better inform the principal to provide one more seat in the class, I can’t keep staying here.
Jeanann sat on her seat too and brought out two lollipops from her backpack, she opened one and began sucking on it.
“Want to have it?”.She asked, handing the unopened lollipop to me.
“No, thanks”.I said politely and she shrugged, keeping it back in her backpack.
Since time for lectures haven’t began and I had nothing else to do, I just kept staring around.
I wanna see every of my classmate and maybe get to know them but suddenly, I caught a pair of dark eyes staring at me but as soon as I stare back, he glanced somewhere else.
It was the same guy who I badly wanted to say ‘hi’ to yesterday when school closed.
OMG! He is looking hot, charming, handsome, he is nothing close to ugly. Pink lips, bright dark eyes, broad shoulders, broad chest and what amazes me was his well shaped nose.
He is just like Dave but different with the hair and skin color. He is white skinned with a dark curly lustrous hair, his hairstyle made his hair so…beautiful.
Who the he.ll is he? He is the perfect definition of God’s work.
“Wow! Who is this guy, Jean?”.I asked Jane still gazing at him. Oh my! He is just…Wow.
“Who?”.Jane asked confused.
“This guy….”.I said and pointed at him. Jane followed my finger which was pointing at him and as soon as she sighted him, her cheeks turned pink. She was blushing…
“His name is Dylan”.She said, her lips forming a weak smile.
“Dylan?”.I asked. It was a really nice name though.
“Yeah Dylan. No one messes with him, no one would afford to get into his black book.The reason is because…”.She sighed and took her eyes back to me. “He is a quiet devil”.
