Chapter Six
GRACE POV
“Quiet devil? What do you mean by that?”.I asked.
“You’re a newbie Grace, so you don’t know how he acts. He is so quiet, handsome but he is nothing like that inside. You should avoid getting into trouble with him”.She muttered and I shrugged.
“I still don’t understand what you are saying, Jean”.I said still confused.
“Just stay away from him”.She took a breath, a deep breath. “I started crushing on him since the first day I met him, he is every girls crush but everyone is afraid to approach him. Trust me, I had tried to talk to him one day even after my friends disapproval but he ignored me like a piece of shit. It is no surprise though, people hardly hear him speak, like I said he is quiet but he is also a devil, he is kind of dangerous. A girl had mistakenly splash ice cream on his clothes, nothing happened to the girl that day but suddenly the girl was found missing the next day at school. But luckily, they found her at the same spot she splashed the ice cream on his clothes, her right hand fingers in which she held the ice cream were missing”.
I gasped, feeling my body shivering. Is he that dangerous?
“As I told you Grace stay away from him, no one knew how he did it, no one talked to him about it but every student suspected him. No body dared to tell the cops about it cause they were afraid of him. So I hope you understand what I mean, just avoid him if you don’t wanna get hurt”.She added and I nodded slightly feeling so scared.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 1 – 10
After few hours the school bell was rung, signifying that it was now lunch break. I gathered my books into my backpack and watch as Jeanann did same.
“Jean!”.I called and she turned to me. “I won’t join you and your friends to eat lunch”.
“Grace,hope it isn’t because of what they did yesterday? I thought you forgave them”.She asked, her face growing pale.
“Yes, I forgave them but I just want to join my bro eat much in the cafeteria”.
“You have a brother? What’s his name?”.She asked and I smiled.
“David but he prefer Dave”.
“Am looking forward in meeting him”.
“Okay, I already told him about you”.
“Really? You did?”.
“Yes”.
We both went to to the cafeteria together, her friends already left her saying they couldn’t wait for her any longer and I kind of felt she might lose her friends because of me.
I sighted Dave sitting with a girl on his usual spot and I approached him with Jeanann by my side.
“I will go….”.Jeanann was saying but a guy who I haven’t seen before blocked her way.
“Come on Jean. Let’s go eat”.The guy said and Jeanann turned to me.
“Hmm, Grace. This is Kyree and Kyree, this is Grace”.She introduced and the guy smiled, stretching his right hand to me for an handshake.
“Am Kyree as she said but am also her boyfriend”.He said and Jeanann blushed in embarrassment.
Dylan is her crush and Kyree is her boyfriend? Geez! I don’t understand..
“Okay, am Grace, Jean’s seatmate”.I introduced accepting his handshake but I caught Jeanann frowning at me slightly.
“Just seatmate, Grace? Come on, am your friend”.She said and I nodded.
“Yeah, right”.I mouthed and watch them walk away.
I sighed and walk to Dave’s spot, I stared at the girl sitting with him and woah!..she was beautiful.
Oval face,pink lips,long brown hair and a nice shape that was what she possessed.She looked so cute.
“Hey Dave”.I chuckled and sat on an empty seat with them. They were actually four chairs around every table in the cafeteria, so their was only one chair remaining around Dave’s table.
“Grace, how are you doing?”.Dave said as he spooned some noodles into his mouth.
“Am fine, who is she?”.I asked Dave as I stared at the girl who was staring at me. I immediately loved her eyes…it was dark but it kinda look blue as she stared at me.
“Am Vanessa, Dave’s classmate”.She introduced herself and I smiled turning to Dave.
“Is she the girl you talked about? The one who smiled at you in your class yesterday?”.I whispered to him.
“Yeah, she is the one”.He whispered back and I glanced at the girl who was busy eating noodles from her own bowl. She was smiling.
“I love her smile, it’s beautiful”. I whispered and for a second, I saw his eyes twinkled.
“Yes, you are right Grace”.He spooned another noodle into his mouth and whispered back. “Her smile makes me smile too”.

?JEANANN POV
“So, mind to tell me who that girl is?”.Kyree asked, chewing a potato chip. We have ordered our lunch and had sat at our favourite spot.
“Whose girl? You mean Grace?”.I asked and he nodded.
“She is my friend and a newbie in the school”.I said and took a sip from my smoothie, quite uninterested about the topic.
“Your friend?”. He chuckled, amazed. “She introduced you as her seatmate and you introduced her as your friend and a newbie. Isn’t that quite surprising?”.
“What do you mean?”.I was confused.
“You hardly make friends, Jean and when you do, you choose someone who have been in this school for long not a newbie. Also, you hardly allow your friends to sit with you, so what changed this time?”.
“She is beautiful”. I shrugged.
“So?”.
“You know what I mean Kyree.She is one of the most beautiful girls in this school even more beautiful than my friends and I have to make her closer to me. She needs to like me Ky, so that I can also get stares from guys, so that I can get popular in this school. She might not have noticed it but guys do stare at her,even you Ky, you were looking at her with so much admiration and Gosh..you haven’t even looked at me like that. Gee, she should just make me her friend already”.I frowned, feeling my head boiling in anger.
“You are so selfish, Jeanann”.He said and I glared at him.
“Hey! Don’t call me that name!”.I snapped and he smirked, chewing another potato chip.
“I know you don’t like me Jean, you like Dylan but you are only using me as your boyfriend because you want to get famous, you want us to be in this relationship cause am one of the most handsome guys here and you want to be admired for that. I know Jean, you don’t have to hide it, you don’t have to pretend that you like me. When I met Grace, you didn’t introduce me to her as Kyree your boyfriend, you only addressed me as Kyree and I felt like you were ashamed of me being your boyfriend.Am so sure you want Dylan to be your so called boyfriend. Dmn! Why are you like this? You think about yourself not minding other people feelings or reaction, am sorry to say this but you’re not only selfish but greedy and heartless. I do like you Jean, you know I do but still you keep taking advantage of it. Why?”.Tears were in his eyes as he spoke and I suddenly felt uncomfortable.
“Leave me alone”.I mumbled and left him alone without hesitation.

GRACE POV
School closed for the day with Jeanann not talking to me, anytime I try to talk to her she won’t reply me. She was looking so moody.
She even left with her friends when school closed without waiting for me and I couldn’t stop myself from feeling hurt.
I don’t know why she was behaving this way but I guess her friends must have made her dislike me. Gosh! I hope none of that sort happened.
I finished packing my books into my backpack, then I zipped it up before hunging it on my shoulders. Soon, am gonna join a club maybe art club cause well I love to draw.
I was about leaving the classroom when I caught some dark eyes staring at me. It was Dylan!
He was on his seat sitting, packing his books into his backpack but his glance was on me, immediately I caught him he tool his eyes back to his bag.
I hurried out of the classroom feeling so scared but I bumped into someone on my way to the parking lot.
“Am so sorry”.I apologized to who I bumped into but gasped when I discovered it was Jeanann’s boyfriend.
“Hey Grace, why the rush?”.He smiled a bit, a smile that reveals two of his whitish front teeth.
“Nothing and am so sorry”.I apologized again.
“It’s okay”.He said and I waved at him before walking away.
I sighted Dave standing in front of the car and I walked to him.
“Grace..”.He called but I cut him off.
“Yeah, am so sorry for keeping you guys waiting”.I said ruefully and I got into the backseat.
“Good evening, Mr Lucas”.I greeted as I saw him in the front seat as usual.
“Good evening Grace, how was school?”.He asked with a smile.
“Uh…school was fine”.I said with a sigh.
To me school wasn’t fine, it was kind of boring with no one to talk to in class. I was just listening to the different teachers coming in and going out while counting my fingers and Jeanann made it worst when she ignored me.
I watched Dave enter the backseat and then we wore our back belts before Mr Lucas began driving.
I was humming to a song when suddenly I felt a tightness in chest. I felt my breath seized and lungs dried up, my head got really hot and I quickly began gasping for air so much that my body began shaking due to lack of breath.
My attack…it has come!
