HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 51 – 60

Chapter Sixty

AUTHORESS PROSPER POV

Saturday and Sunday passed and Monday finally arrived. Grace was not too happy going to school because of what happened on Friday and also with the thought of seeing Dylan. She tried her best to forget the kss but it remained stunk to her memory like glue.

She sighed frustratedly and got dressed before going to the car, after few talks with Dave the driver drove them to school and when they got to school, the car halted and she stepped out of the car.

“Grace”.Dave called, hanging his backpack on his shoulders. “Will you join I and Vanessa in the cafeteria today?”.

“No”.She replied bluntly and walked away.

She just wanted to be alone, in order not to meet another Judas who will end up betraying her by kidnapping her.

She got to class and walked to her seat. She kept her backpack on her thigh before avoiding Jeanann’s glance on her.

Jeanann wanted to apologize to Grace for all she have done but her mouth refused to open. She was scared of Grace’s reply. What if Grace insult her or something? She thought and remained silent.

“Grace”.Angela whose suspension has expired walked up to Grace with a grin on her face.

“Hi Angela”.Grace face brightened up as she smiled.

“So….”.Angela glanced at Jeanann who was taking a peek at them. “Let’s go to my seat Grace…please”.

Jeanann knew they didn’t want her to listen or to be part of their conversation so even though she felt bad about it, she stood and left.

But she didn’t know where to go to, she didn’t want to go to any of her friends but like if her friends heard her thoughts, they walked up to her.

“Jean”.Allison crossed her arms on her chest angrily. “What is this nonsense you’re doing?”.

Jeanann who seems confused asked, “What did I do?”.

“Oh Gosh! Must you pretend or lie to us? Don’t you know you have been avoiding us, do you think we are happy with that?”.This time it was Harper speaking.

“Girls, I know why Jean is doing this. It must be because of that Grace, she must have influenced her. Remember Jeanann acted like this when she and Grace were friends. How pathetic!”.Sophia spoke angrily.

“I aren’t avoiding you girls, I just need some time alone, some space but if you all are annoyed about that then try your best to deal with it!”.Jeanann couldn’t hide her annoyance.

“Oh! She have changed, it is indeed pathetic and so wicked of you. Like seriously… After everything we have done for you instead of showing your appreciation, you turned your back on us”. Harper.

“I didn’t force you girls to do things for me, you chose to do so yourselves and now you are looking for my appreciation. Seriously? Aw… So lame! And one more thing, I didn’t turn my back on you all. As I said, I need some time on my own, stop annoying or disturbing me!”. Jeanann.

“Swears, if someone had told me you will speak like this I would have fought with that person but here you are, blabbering and wasting your stinking saliva on us. Jeez! How could you Jean? How could you?”. Sophia.

“Yeah you are right Soph, this Jean is a betrayal…”.

“I didn’t betray anybody Allison, in fact you all are the one betraying, deceiving and influencing me with your bad attitudes. Am tired of it all and I need some break but you all especially you Allison, you don’t wanna let me live in peace. What is it? What do you want? Just leave me alone and go live with your attitudes!”. Jeanann.

“Geez! What the hell are you saying? We have bad attitudes? We are influencing you? Damn! You are such a punk Jean, you have pushed off the bad things you have done and you are thinking about ours. Well if you’ve forgotten, let me remind you… You were the one who pushed off Sarah in the pool, you were the one who paid some boys to beat up the former prefect of this class, you bullied and almost got Angela half bare. Is this enough? Or should I continue?”.

“Yes, continue. What you have said is too small, alright?!”.Jeanann felt her eyes moisten. “You Sophia, you were the one who told me to push off Sarah in the pool cause you hated and despised her and Allison, you begged me to pay some boys to beat up the former prefect because you wanted to take her place and you successfully did after bribing our form master to make you the prefect. Wow! You all are now blaming me for your own dumb ideas. You guys were the one who even persuaded me to make Angela half bare in order for her to do what I wanted her to do. Oh Jesus! You girls almost destroyed me, I wanted good friends not bad ones but unfortunately, I got friends who keep pushing me to do the wrong things, who later end up blaming me for their own ideas. Wah! What a job well done, you influencers! You must be happy when I kept granting your wishes, spending my money on you all. No wonder you wanted to be my friends because of my money, because of my popularity. So cheap!”.

“Shut up Jean or whatever name you bears, you have spoken enou….”.

“Well Harp I haven’t even started, I haven’t started speaking and you all are already tired. Why? You don’t wanna hear the truth or are your ears too damaged to listen?”.

“You have gotten some guts, huh?”.Sophia barked angrily. “You treated us like slaves ever since, we never opened our mouths to complain but now that you realized we were in control of you, you are angry, right? Tsk! You should go to hell or wherever you belong, you so sickens me Jeanann Kingsley and am tired of this goddamn friendship. Am leaving!”.

She walked away while Harper and Allison glared at Jeanann.

“Your plan worked, right? You will pay for this”.Harper spat out.

“You can’t threaten me”.Jeanann fired.

“Yes, we can and we just did. You will indeed pay for this and let me tell you, you better stay off our way if you don’t want your butt kicked. Remember we are three but you are alone, lonely, just one”.Leaning closer to Jeanann, Allison whispered. “You will pay for calling us names, alright?! And better be ready for our wrath!”.

Allison and Harper walked away while Jeanann’s face crumbled. She let the tears fall with the realization that she just lost her friends.

HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 51 – 60

The bell rang and everyone left for the cafeteria. Grace sighed tiredly as she relaxed on her seat, they just copied some notes and she was tired, exhausted. She felt like going to the cafeteria to buy some snacks but her legs felt wobbly, she didn’t wanna leave the class.

She then thought of going to Dylan since the class was empty and maybe, he would answer her questions.

Just the thought of him answering her questions made her stand and go to where he was.

“Can I talk to you?”.She asked lowly as she stood in front of Dylan’s seat. She wanted to seek for his permission first, she didn’t want their conversation to be like that of Friday.

“Yeah, is anything wrong?”.Dylan spoked and she smiled.

His voice made her smile and about the kss, she wasn’t embarrassed anymore. She was over it. A kss is just a kss…nothing more, no feelings – She had tried to assure herself.

“No, I just want to ask some questions. Can I ask?”.She seek for permission again.

She didn’t know why she was asking for his permission, probably in order not to make him angry since she has got to know he got mood swings.

“Don’t ask for my permission, it sounds…. Weird”.Dylan said, wondering why she was asking for his permission. It truly did sound weird to him. He didn’t want her to treat him like his boys who seeks for his permission first, he wanted her to be free with him and that was exactly the first words he had spoken to her in his house but it seemed like she didn’t acknowledge the ‘be free with me’ part.

“Am sorry but I wanted to ask why I was kidnapped, I think you know the reasons why and please answer the question”.

Dylan sighed.

It was because of him she was kidnapped and he was sorry for that but he wouldn’t tell her that now, he would tell her everything she needs to know soon but not now, he will have pass out a warning for her.

“I can’t tell you the reasons why now but you have to listen to me”. A slight pause. He wanted to get Grace full attention and when he did, he continued, “People will come for you and you’ll have to be careful because whatever they would do to you, you wouldn’t like it!”.

HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 51 – 60

Kyree sniffed as he peeked inside the classroom. He had come to take Grace to the cafeteria but seeing she and Dylan talking angers him.
