Chapter Fifty Two
AUTHORESS PROSPER POV
Jeanann was in her car with her driver driving her home. She felt so weak, so sad. She wanted to hug someone, she wanted to feel some love and cry her eyes out.
Yes! Cry… She have been keeping her tears for so long, for many months but she is tired now. All she want right now is to cry and cry and cry until she cry to her satisfaction.
Slowly, she stared at her bandaged fingers and sniffed. She know she had treated Angela so badly, so cruelly but it wasn’t her fault.
Angela had been the weak one and she had used her as a tool for unleashing her anger and frustration, but now, the weak Angela she knows isn’t weak anymore. She has become strong, more stronger than she imagined.
Oh Jeez! Why must she be so unfortunate? No one wants to be her friends anymore even her three friends are mocking her for allowing Angela to break her fingers.
Gosh! Is this really the life she have always wanted? A life where she gets to feel the love of her family and friends?
She now thinks her parents are avoiding her because since her mum had promised to return back, she hasn’t. She haven’t seen any of her family members for weeks and it’s killing her.
Trying to hold back her tears, she dialed some numbers on her phone and her phone beep for seconds but later stopped beeping. She dialed the number again and this time, thankfully the caller picked the call.
“Hello da….”.
“I don’t have time for this Jeanie, we’ll talk later”.Her dad said and before she could make a sound, the call was disconnected.
A whimper left her mouth but she didn’t give up, she dialed another number and the caller picked at third ring.
“Mum, I….”.
“Jean, am quite busy. Am gonna han….”.
“If you hang up, I will die”.She threatened and her mum gasped, shocked by her daughter’s words.
“W…what are you s…saying, sweetie?”.
“Don’t call me that, alright! Am not your sweetie! Your damn job is your freaking sweet!”.
“Jean…”.
She disconnected the call and lower her head to the floor, letting the tears flow.
On the outside she was a bch, someone with no emotions, no pity, no love, someone who acts like she owns the world but on the inside she knows who was…. A girl who wants to feel loved, a girl who feels depressed, a girl who wanna find a shoulder to lend on.
She knows some people are hating her specially Grace and Angela but she doesn’t blame them. She blames herself because she doesn’t know how to control herself… How to control her anger and aggression!
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 51 – 60
The car finally pulled to a halt outside her house and that was when she realized her phone was ringing. It was her mum calling.
She wanted to disconnect the call but after a second thought, she decided against it and answered the call.
“Jean… I know you are angry but let me explain it to you. I love my job but I love you more”.
“Liar”.She scoffed and she heard her mum sigh.
“Sincerely Jean, am being honest. My job isn’t more important than you, you are and I would want you to understand that”.
“Lies”.Jeanann rolled her eyes angrily. She have been hearing this for weeks.
“Listen Jean, I will prove it to you. I and your dad will come back this week or next… Whenever we have the chance”.
“Must you lie, mum?”.She was now angry to the bones. “Must you lie to me? Must you lie to your daughter? I understand that you have a job… Keep it, protect it, love it and cherish it. Treat your job like a daughter, care for the job more than you care for me. I wouldn’t give a dmn about it!”.
“Jean….”.
“Oh, now I understand. You and dad hate me, right? You hate me and that’s why you took those I care about from me. Jeff, you took him to Germany, away from me, someone who I can’t stay a day without”.
“Jean listen to me, it isn’t like th…..”.
“Have listened to you enough, have listen to your boring words and am tired of listening! Am tired of being lied to, am tired of waiting for you guys to return… Geez! Am sick of it, you guys wanna make me puke!”.
“Jean pl…..”.
“Tell dad, if you guys don’t return until Sunday then just know am dead, just know am gone for good!”.
“What….. Jean?”.
“Goodbye”.She ended the call and placed the phone on her chest, crying uncontrollably as she went out of the car and ran into the house.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 51 – 60
The next morning she woke up from sleep and sluggishly went to the bathroom to prepare for school. Her eyes were so swollen and red; her face was now pale, she had cried all night.
She finished brushing her teeth and then she bathed and chose a simple dress to wear after which she applied makeup on her face to brighten up her paleness.
She then grabbed her backpack and headed downstairs but mistakenly she bumped into the maid in the house and the water the maid was carrying spilled on her.
It was just a small amount of water that dropped on her but the maid was already shivering like someone about to be killed.
“A…am so sorry, Miss Jean”.The maid bowed ruefully, expecting to be knocked or slapped.
“Don’t ever try that again Marian, you know how I am”.Jeanann warned and exited the house while the maid stare at her surprised, until she went out of sight.
Gee! That definitely wasn’t Jeanann, she never warns, she takes action immediately.
She had remembered when a drop of milk spilled on Jeanann’s dress, she had received more than twenty slaps that day but today, it seems like she was changing. No! Jeanann can never change – She shook her head and walked away.
Jeanann on the other hand went into the car and the driver, Mr Jack drove the car away.
Her mind was occupied with different thoughts that she didn’t even know when she got to school, it was her driver, Mr Jack who tapped her to draw her back to reality.
“Miss Jean?”.He called and Jeanann snapped out of her thoughts. She sighed, took her backpack and went out of the car.
On her way to class, she bumped into Kyree and she rubbed her forehead hissing in pain due to the impact of the collision.
“Kyree?”.She wasn’t expecting to see him so soon.
“Oh! Hi Jean, sorry but um… I have to go now… See you later”.He said and without waiting for her reply, he left to his class.
Jeanann knew he was avoiding her. He hardly make contact with her, he hardly talk to her, that’s unusual of him. She felt pained by this but she let it slide and went to class.
On her arrival in class, her three friends walked to her and she frowned. She didn’t feel like talking to them but she just have to for now.
“Jean, their is good news”.Allison smirked happily. “That bch, Angela or whatever stupid name she bears was suspended and she wouldn’t come to school till Monday. Am so happy yunno”.
They all laughed at this but Jeanann remained quiet and went to her seat.
Her friends were surprised that she ignored them, so they scoffed angrily and went to their different seats.
Jeanann stared at Grace and saw how bored she looked, she had caught her glaring at her and she felt her heart ache.
Oh Grace, am so sorry for all have done. Am very bad tempered and I can’t control my anger. Am truly sorry, I wish you can forgive me – She thought sadly and lowered her head to the desk.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 51 – 60
It was lunch break, everyone had left the class to the cafeteria except Grace and Dylan.
Grace felt so bored, no one had talked to her since her arrival in school today. Though she was tempted to talk to Dylan since both of them were the only ones in class but thinking he would ignore her, she remained sitted.
She brought out a novel and began reading but suddenly, she felt some tightness in her chest and she winced placing her hand on her chest like if her hand could stop the pain.
Before a second or two, she realized her breathing ceased and she gasped, opening her backpack to take her inhaler.
She searched and searched and searched but her inhaler was nowhere to be found. At this time her head was already hot and tears were already crawling out of her eyes.
She dropped on the floor, trying her best to breathe the way she was taught by the doctor doing situations like this but it wasn’t working out.
“Puppy??”.She left herself being lifted off the floor but the tears kept rolling out on its own and finally she shut her eyes, allowing the darkness to take over.
She had struggled enough!!
