Chapter Fifty Four

AUTHORESS PROSPER POV

Just then Doctor Scott arrived, dressed in a white garment with a stethoscope wrapped around his neck.

“Sonia, what is this noise all about? What’s going on here?”.He asked with surprise and confusion as he glanced at the receptionist who seem confused too.

“I…. I don’t really know sir, h…he was the one who shouted”.The receptionist glanced at Dylan but her lips quivered when she saw blood dropping out of his nostril.

Okay? That’s weird…

The doctor stare at who she was staring at and a light gasp left his mouth when he noticed it was Dylan, he could also see the blood oozing out of his nostril.

“Dylan…. You are here?”.The question sounded stupid, so he cleared his throat and said something else. “Please, come to my office”.

He began walking away while Dylan followed after him gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. He looked like he was fighting something, something that was unbearable, unbeatable.

He have never been the weak one but this thing, this dmn thing was making him weak.

They came across an office boldly imprinted as Doctor Scott Office, they went in and both sat on different seats with a table in their middle, separating them.

“So Dylan, how has it been?”.The doctor asked, folding his fingers against each other.

“That’s a stupid question, Doc. You know it hasn’t been good but yet, you ask the same stupid question every time we meet!”. Now Dylan was groaning but the Doctor knew it wasn’t his fault.

“Dylan please you need to put yourself together. As I said the last time we met, this would result to anger, frustration, depression, isolation and insolence and more and as I can see now, the signs are already showing itself. All you need to do is enough rest and most importantly you need to calm down. Yelling would solve nothing, in fact it would make you weaker by draining your blood. You also need med……”.

“I don’t want that sht!”.This was supposed to come out as a yell but it came out lowly, slowly. This would have been the voice of a snail, that is if snails can talk.

“Dylan….”.The Doctor had pity in his eyes, he had affection for this guy. No one would have been able to go through this pain he have been struggling with for years.

“Dylan, I… I really wanna help you but… I don’t have the money to solve all this. If only you can try to raise two million dollars and I would gladly support you with one million dollars”.

“I don’t need your help, Doc”.He said calmly, his eyes boring pain, despair. “I don’t want your pity, it’s my pain not yours and you should let me solve it myself. Don’t mingle in my affairs”.

Alright, that was one of the signs – Insolence.

“Dylan, am only trying to help”.

“Well, I don’t want your help. Solve your problems, don’t try to solve what is not yours”.

The Doctor sighed sadly.

This guy is too stubborn, he wouldn’t win if he keeps pressuring him.

“Alright, fine but now I have to check your blood and see the stage it is in”.The Doctor said, bringing out a syringe from a first aid box.

He filled it and walked to Dylan, he then plucked the needle into his arm but Dylan didn’t even wince.

Three seconds later, he removed the needle from Dylan arm and staring satisfactory at Dylan’s blood in the syringe, he dropped it back on its box.

“Today is Wednesday, right?”.He knew Dylan wouldn’t answer, so he continued immediately. “You should come in a week time or Sunday to check its result or whenever its ready, I would call you”.

Dylan didn’t say a word, he was just fisting his fists not minding the veins revealing themselves on his thin arm.

He was getting thinner and thinner…. Sometimes whenever their was an heavy wind, he do feel himself being moved by the wind.

“Dylan……”.The Doctor noticed his thin body. “You would need dr…”.

“I told you, I don’t want that sht!”.This time he yelled and blood oozed out of his nostril again.

He sighed, his eyes red and glassy as he stood from the seat he sat on.

“That wouldn’t help me Doc, you know it. It never helped me and if you don’t mind I would be leaving now. See ya when the result is out”.

He left without waiting for the Doctor’s reply and the Doctor, Doctor Scott cleaned off the tears dropping from his eyes as he glanced at the direction Dylan went.

Only one feeling overwhelmed him which made him feel sad for the poor teen.

Pity.

HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 51 – 60

The day passed by and another day came; Thursday. Grace was discharged at the evening of Thursday and she went home after getting a serious warning Never To Forget Her Inhaler At Home Ever Again.

Friday came and after a bath, she wore some nice clothes, ate her breakfast and went to join Dave in the car.

“Hope your inhaler is in your backpack?”.Dave had asked immediately she joined him in the car.

“Yes, do you think I would ever forget it again?”.She asked and chuckled.

The ride to school was quiet, an uncomfortable silence. Dave was chatting quietly with Vanessa and she felt like chatting with someone but who exactly?

Jeanann? Tsk! No… Okay, Angela? Gosh! She doesn’t have her phone number. Then who? Victoria? Yeah, Victoria. Why didn’t she think of that?

She took her phone on her palm and went to her social media accounts.

Facebook – Not Active.
WhatsApp – Not Active.
Instagram – Not Active.

Why is Victoria not active?

Just then she thought of Kyree. Oh yeah, he was active on WhatsApp.

“Hi”.She sent him a message and like he was waiting for her reply, he replied almost instantly.

“Hi. Sorry, I couldn’t visit you at the hospital. I heard what happened”.

Probably some gossipers must have told him about it.

“Oh, not to worry. Am perfectly fine now”.

She sent him and just like a flash, she saw another message from him.

Gee! He types really fast.

“Okay. Would you join me at the cafeteria? Table 33? I reserved it for both of us and I promise to pay any orders you make”.

Wow! That was kinda sweet.

“Yes, I would if am not busy”.

“Would be expecting you”.

He sent this with a couple emoji kssing. Grace found this a little bit weird but she replied anyways.

“Okay and thanks Kyree…. For everything”.

She turned off her data and took a deep breath before dropping her phone aside.

The car stopped at school and after waving the driver bye, they went to their different classes.

Grace got to hers and sat on her seat. She dropped her backpack on her thighs and then turned backward to stare at Dylan.

There, she saw him frowning as he scribbled on a paper. It made her remember the confusing dream she had six days ago but she shrugged it off and keeping a mental note to say thanks to Dylan, she took her eyes forward.

Class got boring maybe because she felt lonely, she’d wonder how Dylan survived in class without anybody talking to him. Well, he really tried. She have not even come to class too long ago but she was already feeling bored and lonely.

Teachers taught and left and when the bell signifying lunch break rang, she squeaked happily. At least, she would get out of this suffocating class.

She straightened her dress, took her inhaler in case of emergency and when she was about leaving the class, she stared around only to find the class empty. The only person who was in was of course Dylan and her.

She took this as a time to thank Dylan for what he did for her two days ago and then she walked to him feeling a bit nervous.

“Hmm…. Okay”.She cleared her throat, staring down at the guy who paid her no attention. He was reading a novel, the same novel they read for the first time together. The Lady In White.

“Dylan, I… I just wanted to say”.She bit her lips, feeling the awkwardness around the classroom. “Thank you for…..”.

“Get out, I don’t need your thanks!”.

She frowned and glared at him.

What the he.ll is wrong with him? She was just thanking him, right? Then why the he¢k is he angry?!
