EPILOGUE….

Grace kept crying as she ran to an hospital with Dylan on her back. She didn’t even feel Dylan’s weight, she was too occupied with her thoughts to feel.
She ran. Pedestrians looking at her weirdly maybe tagging her as a mad girl who carried her mad lover on her back.
She didn’t care what they think, she didn’t even mind but she was glad they didn’t stop her. It would slow down her pace.
She saw an hospital. It wasn’t that big but it was okay. She ran into it immediately and began screaming.
The nurses at the entrance saw her and rushed to her.
“Hello, what’s the matter?”.One of them spoke.
“Please save him, please”.Her sound of her tears clouded her voice making it hard for the nurses to comprehend.
But when they saw the unconscious guy on her back, they brought out a stretcher and took him to the theater.
As the nurses said, his condition was critical…
Grace sat at the waiting room, tears dropping out of her eyes. She muttered few words and prayers. She wanted Dylan to be alright, she wanted him to be fine.
He had gone through a lot since he was little. No family, no friends, he must had gotten a hard life and it will be really unfair if he just dies the time he succeeded in killing his enemies.
That would be totally unfair…
She didn’t know what to do but still, she didn’t want to keep sitting down, doing nothing. At least let her keep her eyes on Dylan, let her know when or how he is going to be fine.
She thought about her family… How worried and restless they would be. She needs to contact them, to tell them she was fine. That was the right thing to do, she didn’t want them to stress themselves over her.
“Please, can you lend me your phone?”.She asked a young boy sitting beside her.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 61 – The End
He was one of the boys who were roaming their eyes over her. Yeah, the dress she had on was torn and bloody, it was exposing. She’d like to change but that would be later.
“Yeah”.He handed his phone over to her and Grace forced a smile as she took it on her palm.
She punched some numbers and dialed it. She waited for few seconds before the receiver picked.
“Hello, who is this?”.It was Dave’s voice.
“Hmm….”.She cleared her throat. “It’s….It’s me, Grace”.
“Wh…hat?!”.Dave sounded shocked.
“Calm down Dave, please don’t shout”.
“How can you tell me that? You have been kidnapped since four days and you suddenly called, telling me not to shout, are you serious? Enough of this, tell me where you are, I and Dad will come get you. We’ll even come with some polices to make sure those kidnappers are caught and dealt with mercilessly”.
“Their is no need for all that, am fine”.She rubbed her forehead, frowning at the headache she felt. “How is everybody at home?”.
“We’re not fine Grace, it you are fine, thank God but we are not. Everyone is worried sick, mum especially, you wouldn’t even believe what happened today”.
“Huh? What happened?”.
“Come home, you’ll find out”.
“Come on! Stop this, am curious. What happened? Is it something bad or good?”.
“Uh… Am in the hospital right now. Everyone is in the hospital”.
I jerked up immediately. “What happened?”.
“It’s mum….”.
“Mum? What happened to mum?”.Her heart was racing.
“S…she is fine. She got into labour and delivered a baby boy two hours ago… Yeah, am not the only male child in the house now”.She heard him laugh and a smile crossed her lips.
“How is she?”.
“She is fine, dad is with her. I was with her a while ago but she said she was hungry so I went to get her some chips”.
Grace felt happy a little bit. She was still worried for Dylan but she was happy her mum delivered safely. If anything had happened to her, then surely she would have gotten an heart attack.
“What’s the baby’s name?”.
“Dolan… It’s cool, right? Mum had chosen the name”.
Dolan, it almost sounded like Dylan. She loved the name immediately.
“Yeah, it’s really cool”.
“So… When will you come back?”.
“Soon.. I will come back soon. Please don’t tell anyone I called”.
“Um… Okay, I will do that”.
“Thanks Dave”.She disconnected the call and sighed heavily before handing the phone back to the owner.
Now, all her fears returned…
It seemed Dave’s voice was calming her a little but now the calmness had disappeared replaced by fear… Fear of Dylan’s survival.
She bit her lips, pinched her nail feeling anxious and nervous.
“Hi, my name is Cade”.The young boy who had handed her his phone said to her but she ignored him, looking elsewhere.
“Hello? Am Cade and you must be….Grace?”.
That got her attention and she frowned, glaring at the guy.
“How the heck did you know my name?”.She sneered.
“You called someone and you said you were Grace”.
Of course that must be the way he knew her name…
“So…can we be friends?”.
She fisted her fists angrily. “Shit! Can’t you just shut up? Huh?!”.
Cade frowned and turned aside, embarrassed with the way she half yelled at him. Few people were looking at his direction.
“Hello?”.A nurse approached Grace and she stood immediately.
“Wh….”.
“Hmm… Please calm down. It’s about your clothes, please you have to change, it’s bloody and few people here have blood allergies. Please lemme lead you to the dressing room”.
Grace didn’t know what to say or do. She have been sitting for minutes and she wanted to really stand and take a walk. It wouldn’t be that hard, would it?
She nodded and followed the nurse who took her to a dressing room. She changed to a patient uniform and had to get her wounds treated before it gets infected.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 61 – The End
It was cleaned, drugs were applied and it was plastered before she went back to the waiting room but immediately she got there, she found a doctor waiting for her.
“Doctor, what’s it? How is he?”.Grace body shook when she noticed the sad look on the doctor’s face.
“Am sorry miss”.
Her breathing became uneven.
“When he was brought in here, he was almost dead. His condition was critical. He was badly wounded and his heart… Um well, wasn’t functioning probably”.The doctor paused, surveying the girl who was badly shaking. “We placed him on drip, injected him to relieve him of the pains but….”.
The doctor stopped speaking and Grace bit her lips, glaring at the doctor, challenging him to complete his words. “But what?”.
“At 2:16pm, that was seven minutes ago, he…..”.
Another pause.
Grace took in a deep breath, her eyes teary and her heart racing speedily as if being pursued.
“He…he what?”.
“Am sorry but we tried all we could, he didn’t wake. He couldn’t wake. He died….”.
She didn’t know what happened to her but when she woke up, she saw herself in a room, in a ward. Laying on the bed while her mum and Dave stayed beside her.
After few explanations she discovered she have been in coma for two months.
She cried, her tears sticking to her face.
She couldn’t believe Dylan was gone, her Dylan.
Her mum had said he had been buried but Grace wanted to see him, to see his grave. However she couldn’t until she was discharged.
It was hard for her but she had to forget HER ADVERSITY and move on… Even though it seemed so impossible.
Weeks turned into months and the students of Springs Academy finally realized Dylan was innocent of the accusation which says he chopped off Evelyn’s fingers.

Evelyn had confessed it herself…
Jeanann and her family got along really well and her parents always gave her their time.
Jeanann and Kyree broke up. They both had misunderstands and had to break the relationship but they became friends, great friends.
Kyree and Angela fell for each other and built up a relationship but what about Grace?
She couldn’t love any guy again, she always think of Dylan and cry often though her three friends always make sure she get their full support and attention but that was not enough.
She wanted Dylan back!
