Chapter 109

Author: RACHEAL DENNIS.

RACHEL’S pov.

“.. I know my mom did a lot of people wrong, and she destroyed a lot of family, but she was the best mother to me and my late brother” he paused, and gulped.

Today’s a black Thursday for Mike, because today’s his mother’s (Mrs Jackson, or I should say Ms Cara’s) funeral, and he’s currently standing in front of his mother’s enlarged photo giving a farewell speech.

“I remembered as a kid, mom doesn’t come around very often, but she always spend quality time and spoil my late brother and I with candies” he said.

Jacinta held his hand and gave him a consolation squeeze which he nodded at, I could tell he’s trying hard not to break down in front of everyone -I guess he’s really loved his mother dearly, and maybe they both have a very good mother-son relationship despite Mrs Jackson’s reckless life.

Yeah, Mrs Jackson was bad, but I can’t deny the fact that she actually loved her kids, I guess this saying ‘even the wildest lion doesn’t eat its cub’ is true after all.

“If someone had told me I’ll be giving this speech on my mother’s funeral five days later, I’d have fought with him or her… ”

Yep!
It’s been five days since it all happened.
Duncan didn’t want us to attend Mrs Jackson’s funeral, but I pulled some tricks and he was forced to agree.

“… but here I am, giving a farewell speech” he exhaled sharply. “Rest on mom” then he walked back to his seat with his wife’s support.

Mike caught sight of us after he’s sat down, he smiled weakly and nodded appreciatively at me, and I nodded back with my own small smile, then he turned his attention away from me when his dad started whispering something in his ear.

“We shouldn’t have come, I don’t wanna pay any last respect to a wtçh!” Duncan whispered harshly in my ear, which earned him a na$tily glare from me.

“You’re lucky I didn’t force you to attend your dad’s funeral” I told him.

He scoffed. “He’s not my dad” then he grumbled looked ahead of him, or let’s say, he’s glaring at Mrs Jackson’s photo.

Today’s Mr Ferrari’s funeral too, but this stubborn son refused to attend, claiming Mr Ferrari impacted nothing to his life as a father -it’s true though, but the fact remain; they’re father and son!

An Hour Later

The funeral is finally over, everyone started trooping towards Mike, and they were sincerely giving their condolences.

Even though Mrs Jackson wasn’t on good terms with her kids’ (Mike and Asher’s) father, he still came and paid his last respect to her -he stood by his only surviving son (Mike), and wouldn’t stop patting Mike’s shoulder comfortingly.

“Hi, Mike” I greeted him when it’s finally my turn.

“Rachel” he pulled me into a hug, but Duncan cleared his throat and we broke up immediately. “Thank you for coming” Mike said.

“Yeah, at least your mom was very good to me for long time” I replied.

He nodded in agreement, then I faced Jacinta and smiled at her, she still look so beautiful even though she looks tired, and got bags under her eyes.

“Thanks for coming, Rachel, I thought you wouldn’t come” she said.

“I must be here for you guys”

She pulled me into a hug.

“Now you know Mike wasn’t cheating on you, right?” I asked her in a low voice.

“Yeah” she replied. “He’s explained everything to me, and apologized for keeping that part of his life a secret”

“Hm” I hummed, then pulled away from the hug. “We’ll be leaving now” I told them.

“Drive safely” Mike wished us.

“We will” I replied, then we (Duncan and I) headed towards the exit.

“Where are we going after here? Home?” I asked him.

“We’re going to visit home” he cleared his throat. “It’s high time I formally introduced you to her”

I rolled my eyeballs.

“Mom’s met me” I told him.

He frowned slightly.

“She has?”

“Yeah, nanny took me to see her some time ago”

His frown deepened slightly, but soon replaced with a smile when he recalled it.

“It doesn’t matter though, I’ll just reintroduce you”

I sighed.

“Weirdo”

At The Cementry

Duncan pushed the withered daisies away, and dropped the fresh ones that he bought earlier from a flower shop.

“Longest time, mom” he said as he wiped his mom’s photo on her grave.

“Longest time? When was the last time you visited mom? Six years?” I scoffed. “She must be very mad at you”

He scorned playfully at me.

“She’s not mad at me because she understands me very well” he pointed at her photo. “Look, she’s even smiling at me”

I rolled my eyeballs again, and scoffed loudly.

“Baby, that’s just a photo of her”

“No, it’s not”

“It is”

“It’s not”

“It is”

“It’s not”

“Stop arguing with me!” I snapped at him and he shut up at once. “No mother would be happy if her son doesn’t come to visit her, mom isn’t an exception”

He turned back to his mom’s photo.

“Mom can you see? Your daughter-in-law doesn’t have an ounce of respect for me, she snaps at me whenever she feels like, and always commands me as if I’m her servant” he paused and glanced at me. “I’m her husband, isn’t she being unfair to me?”

As if his mom disagrees with him, a thunderclap was heard and I smirked victoriously.

“See? Even mom knows you’re lying”

“What.. I’m not lying, mom, she’s turned me into a cook and I’ve scalded my hands multiple times for her sake”

I rested my hands on my waist, and raised my eyebrows at him.

“Are you complaining?” I asked challengingly.

He quickly shook his head in disagreement, and pulled me into a hug. He placed a kss on my exposed neck, before resting his chin on my shoulder.

“Mom, we’re gonna be having your first grandchild soon” he paused and sighed. “But we still don’t know what to call him yet”

I elbowed his stomach and he groaned shortly.

“I know what to call him, mom, Duncan just doesn’t like the name” I said.

“That’s not a name, my heartbeat” he made a disgusted face. “How can you call him Isaac?”

He laughed as though it’s funny, but he stopped laughing when he realized I’m not finding it funny at all.

“Come on, my heartbeat, that’s not a cute name”

“Then what’s the cute name you’ve come up with?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.

“King!” he said pridefully.

“King?” he nodded. “Is that even supposed to be a name?”

“Of course, my son is very strong, he’s strong enough to survive even the most toughest situation, hence he’s a King!”

I facepalm myself;
God, please, don’t let my son take after his father’s dvmbness!

“You’ve got nine months to think of a name, and all you could come up with is King?”

“It’s a cute name”

I sighed and shook my head.

“Our son’s name is Isaac and that’s final”

Duncan pouted at my words, and made a cute face.

“But King is a sxy name, after all, our son’s gonna be the ladies man in the future”

My eyes widened at his words, as I gaped at him.. he didn’t just say that.

“Mom, did you heard that?” I pushed him away from me and threw him a glare. “What did you just say? Are you planning on teaching my son to become a pIayboy?!”

He shook his head quickly and raised his hands in surrender.

“Then what do you mean by saying he’s gonna be the ladies man?”

“He can be a fl!rt like me and…” he quickly sIapped his hands over his mouth when he realized what he’s just said.

I gawked at him.

“Mom!” I stomped my feet on the ground. “He’s been cheating on me!”

“No, I’m not”

“Then what about flrting with other women? Didn’t you just say you’re fl!rting with other women?”

“I mean on stage, I make eye contact with my female fans on stage, but trust me, it’s purely for business purpose.. I’m very professional” he explained.

“Very professional? Not very faithful?”

He twisted his lips as though he’s short of words, which made me narrow my eyes at him, and charged at him.

“You must explain yourself clearly today!” I growled as I chased after him.

“Mom, we’ll come visit you another day!” he shouted as he raced towards the exit, but he wasn’t so fast because of me, I guess he’s scared of making me fall.

“Stop right there!” I yelled as I continued chasing him, with my right hand on my waist.
