Just The Beginning ?
Episode nineteen
Alex
It’s about 8.30 in the morning, and am all sweaty from my morning run. I rush up stairs to my room for a quick shower before I head out to see George. He called me last night and told me that he has a surprise for me and am really anxious to know what it’s all about.
He sounded happy when he called and that gave me some kind of relief. I thought that it would take him longer to get over vee but I guess he wasn’t that much into her after all.
Am still contemplating on whether to tell him about the boyfriend issue or not. Am so sure that once he learns that she’s actually single, hell start chasing after her again and that’s going to be messy, since us not interested in him romantically.
In a few minutes am done and as am busy getting dressed, Stacy barges in her face red with anger.
I have to admit that she looks really cute when angry. She always did.
” Hey, didn’t anyone ever teach you how to knock?” I ask.
” You cancelled my credit card?! How could you? ” She yells and I just gaze at her. “Am talking to you Alex, what am I supposed to do now?”
” Get a job maybe, ” I say with a raised eyebrow. ”
” Work?! Are you out of your mind?, ” she asks looking at me like I have just grown a second head.
Stacy has never worked once in her life. My family and l provided everything she needed and it’s about time she fends for herself.
” That’s what most people do to earn money Stacy….. It’s about time you work hard, since you pretty much know how to work hard, ” I say smirking at her and I swear she’s about to explode.
” You can’t do this to me! I’ve never worked once in my life and am not planning to. ”
” Suit yourself. Now get out of my room. ”
” You know I’ll get money from your mum right? ” She says an evil grin on her face.
” Don’t you dare get my mum involved in this! You’ve already done enough damage already by lying to her. ” I warn her trying my best not to strangle her.
She walks towards me and places her palms on my chest, the silly smile still on her face.
” You know your mum adores me and would do anything for me. If you don’t give me back my credit card am going to make sure your mum finds out that, you are making up the baby story and she’ll never trust you again, ” she says her fingers crawling up my neck.
” Am not making up any stories Stacy, that’s your job. ”
” Dmn right it is! and you know what? I already have the perfect story for your mum and i bet she’ll believe it, just like she did the stupid lie about you cheating on me. Just between us, ” she says pointing from me to her. ” I never thought she would buy that story so easily. I was actually surprised when she did. ”
” I guess now it’s my turn to be surprised, ‘ mom says walking in and the look on Stacy’s face is priceless. ” How could you lie to me knowing well, that I detest liars?”
Stacy is just standing here in panic looking pretty embarrassed, and am so relieved that all this is over.
she actually dug her own grave.
I didn’t think it was going to be this easy to get rid of her but I guess the odds aren’t against me this time. This means that I don’t have to lie to mum anymore. No more trying to find a fake girlfriend.
Finally!
That sht was starting to give me sleepless nights.
” Am sorry that I didn’t believe you Alex, ” mum says walking towards me. ” I never thought that she’d ever lie to me like that.
” Mum, I didn’t mean to, ” Stacy says crocodile tears falling down her face. ” It was the only way i knew of saving my relationship with Alex. ”
” And so you decided to use me?! No relationship can ever be build on lies Stacy, ” Mum says glaring at her. ” So what really happened Alex? ”
” umm….
” I was the one that cheated on him, ” Stacy blurts out.
” So you twisted the story and made yourself the victim? ! Wow! I never expected this from you ,” mum says shouting and I can tell she’s kind of struggling to breathe.” I treated you like my own daughter and you had the guts to cheat on my son and lie to me? Am so glad that he’s already moved on with someone else. ”
” Mum calm down, remember the doctor said you shouldn’t be under any kind of stress. ”
” I know but i almost forced you to marry her, am really sorry,” she says her palms against her chest.
” Are you okay? ”
” Am fine, I just need to sit down. ”
I help her sit on the couch beside my bed and quickly go Grab medicine from her room along with some water.
She takes the medicine and in a few seconds she’s relaxed and her breathing is back to normal.
” Come, I’ll help you get to your room so you can lay down. ”
I help her up and as we are about to exit the room, Mum stops and turns to look at Stacy.
” I’ll talk to you later, ” she says and out we go.
I tuck her in and make sure she’s comfortable.
” Alex, am sorry I didn’t believe you. I still can’t believe Stacy would do that! ”
” It’s alright okay? Stop stressing over this and get some rest. ”
” Okay, but please introduce me to my future daughter in law as soon as possible. You know what, somehow am kind of glad that all this happened. Atleast I’ll get to have a grandchild soon, ” she says smiling lightly.
” Actually mum… There’s something you need to know, ” I quickly say and her smile turns upside down.
” I hope it’s not what am thinking, please don’t tell me that all this is also a lie, ” she says panick and fear clear in her voice.
She was getting all restless again and I was afraid that she would get worse if i tell her the truth and so I decided to stick with the lie, atleast until mum gets better.
And I thought i was done with this!
” Of course it’s not a lie ,I……..just wanted to tell you that… I love you a lot and you should fight to get better for me , Okay? “I say kssing her forehead.
” I’ll definitely fight for you and also for my grand child, you can be sure of that .”
” Good, I have to head out now but you can call me whenever you need me, ” I say and she nods.
As i take the last step down the stairs, I hear some yelling from my Dads office and my curiosity takes me to the office door.
“Am done with all your threats okay?! Dad yells ,and I get more curious as to what is happening. ” I already did everything you asked ,but you can’t seem to be satisfied.
This is all over. ”
‘ It’s over when I say it’s over old man, and if you know what’s good for you, do as I say. ”
Stacy! What is going on here?!
” There’s no way i can withdraw that much money, without Alicia finding out. ”
Now I get it, since there no way she’s going to get any money from my mum, she’s now threatening Dad!
What a snake ! I wonder what I ever saw in her? I mean yes, she’s beautiful and all but character also matter.
But what could she have against him?
Could it be the same reason Dad has been all stressed out, lately?
” I don’t care if she finds out or not, You know something much worse will happen if you don’t give me what I want.”
“This is not okay Stacy, I wont let you black mail me in my own house! That’s Dad.
” Okay then, I guess you have made your choice, ” Stacy says and I can here the sound of her heels, walking closer to the door and I quickly move away.
I take a seat in the sitting room and wait for Stacy to walk out but she doesn’t. I guess Dad must have stopped her and agreed to her demands.
This Stacy is becoming such a nightmare to my family and I can’t wait to completely get rid of her, After I find out what my Dad is hiding from us.
