Episode 38
Success returned and met my dad sleeping,
“Welcome, where did you two go to? I asked.
“To her place, I saw the Xray result and everything about your father health, he replied bringing out an envelope and I brought out everything looking at it and my dad woke up,
“Purity, my dad called out and I went to him,
“Dad Success just came back with this, I said showing it to him,
“This are all fake Purity, they faked the result, my Dad said and I nodded and he looked at Success,
“My son please don’t be upset with me, refusing you to be the lawyer does not mean you’re not a good lawyer, please understand, he said.
“Dad I’ll be fine, don’t worry, Success said.
“I hope so, my dad said and I held him,
“Dad can you tell us what happened now? The last time I saw you, you were strong and healthy and you never returned, what happened? I asked and he heaved adjusting himself on the bed.
“My dear after I left you I wanted staying away from you thinking you will change your mind, but after 5 months I didn’t see you, I wanted coming to see you and that was when the problem bursted.
She began to shout and brought in things to stop me from going, then she asked me to go on a vacation with her.
I refused and there was a big problem at home, but one particular evening when the heat of our misunderstanding was on, I told her nothing will stop me from seeing you the next day which was a weekend.
I drove out to have some fun with my friends and returned in the night, the kids were sleeping and I slept in the sitting room just to avoid another round of quarrel from her.
The next day she prepared breakfast for me and kept it on the dinning, and you know me Purity no matter how angry I am with your step mother, I don’t let it stay till the next morning.
I get calm before morning but she will keep on dragging the argument, but this time I was determined to go see you that day.
I ate the food she prepared and told her I’m leaving, she didn’t say anything to me.
I smiled and held her reminding her that you’re my 1st child and its not right I abandon you out there in the village.
She didn’t still say anything and I gave her a peck and carried what I bought for you and your mom into the car, but on the way as I was driving, I didn’t understand my system anymore.
My head was swelled up and I had serious stomach pains.
I quickly parked my car and called Eunice telling her the situation, she screamed and told me I shouldn’t go to any where.
I kept my head on the steering struggling with the pains I had until she came and carried me home.
I stayed home for 2 days and disturbed her to take me to the hospital before I will die at home, but she boldly told me I’ll be fine.

1 week passed and I couldn’t leave the house for even my job, my friends and business partners visited and she told them there’s an expert she heard and she has called him to come check me.
The so called expert came and treated me at home and I was able to get up from bed.
Though i wasn’t that healthy and could not go far but it was manageable, he narrated.
“Sorry for cutting you short, but what did the expert said was wrong with you? Success asked.
“Nothing my son nothing, he blew one English like that I can’t even remember and that was all, besides I was too weak to even say anything so Eunice was the one running the affairs, he replied.
“The so called Expert knew what she did to you that’s why she didn’t bother to take you to the hospital because she knew you won’t die and it was a means to stop you from seeing me, I said.
“That’s it,and after a year I was still struggling with my health that way and never brought you up again knowing I didn’t have the strength for another fight, so gradually I was strong and decided to see you again.
It was already a year and few months and I was too worried, and when I made the step to go see you again I had an accident.
Funny enough it was just around the house I left for exercise, a car from no where drove and hit me into the gutter and drove off.
The few people who saw that quickly sent the message at home and I was taken to the hospital.
If you check my legs you’ll see the wounds, and my hand was broken.
That period it wasn’t funny, in fact I escaped death narrowly and stayed for months in the hospital.
When I was trying to recover she came up with the idea that we should go on a vacation after all that has happened to the family.
She insisted the family need a change of environment and its best we leave, I asked about our business but she said it will be fine, i saw sense in what she said and we traveled down here, he continued and I heaved.
“Now it makes sense, I said cleaning my face.
“And you’ve been here for years? Success asked.
“Yea but before then when it was 2 months I disturbed to leave and that was when her character revealed…….So you’ll go back to Hilda and Purity huh? Listen to me you will remain here and you are going no where, she kept saying.
Hmmm Purity when I wanted rising up as a man she brought in 2 bouncers to the house, i thought it was a joke but right there she snatched my phone from me and transferred my business to her name.
I was like a slave to her and no one knew where I was, I remained that way for years under the watch of the bouncers without knowing how the outside looks like.
I promised them money if they will let me escape, but they reminded me I am now a poor man and have no kobo in my account.
Beards covered my face and I looked so old, I only saw the outside through the window and I couldn’t even see my children..
Already she returned the kids back to the house where her friend was taking care of them, while she stayed here controlling me.
But one day I tried to escape, my eyes were red and I took a broken Glass and hid it in my trouser.
When one of the bouncer entered my room to drop their miserable food, I used it on him and he screamed, I tried going out but met with the 2nd which I didn’t know was around.
He held me and gave me the beatings of my life when he saw what i did to his partner, he called up Eunice and she arrived immediately and slapped me.
I flared up but he pinned me down, she then brought out a syringe and injected me, that was where my health and life took a different shape.
She no longer needed the services of the guys because I was helpless and good as dead, and that was when she did to me as she wanted, my dad explained.
“Then she brought up the fake cancer result? Charity asked.
“The cancer came up when one of my friends traced the house and visited, she was surprised herself how he found out but Abigail told him I was very sick.
I could only hear his voice in my state and i couldn’t say anything to him, he asked if I’ve been to the hospital but she said yes and pretended to cry.
He decided to take me to the hospital and series of test was done on me, but however she had her way and manipulated the results i don’t know, he replied and Success saved the recording i never knew he was recording.
“Okay you need to rest sir, this will do for today, Success said and i weakly smiled at my dad,
“I’m sorry for all you went through, I thought you abandoned me over there, I said.
“Anyone will think that way and I don’t blame you for thinking that way, he said and i nodded.
“She will pay for this, but i thought she claimed to love you but she’s killing you for what exactly? I asked.
“She swore you and your mom will never step your feet into my house, because i was planning to bring your mom in if that will make you come back, he replied and I scoffed.
“Is it my mom she made mad you wanted bringing her in? You would have made my mom walk into her Grave, I said.
“I don’t understand, what do you mean by that? He asked and I opened his shirt to check his stitches.
“Story for another Day dad, you need to rest, I said touching him and went outside to meet Success and Charity who step out.
“Are you alright? I asked sitting on his laps.
“I don’t know what to feel anymore, but were you able to talk with your mom? He asked.
“Nah i couldn’t, I’ll do that tomorrow, i replied.
“What do you think about this case? Looks like this Eunice of a woman is strong and gat contacts, Charity said.
“I don’t care, If her lawyer was that smart he would have taken the results from the house, tomorrow I’ll be visiting where she did the Xray, they owe me an explanation, Success said.
“And i can ask my dad if he can recall the hospital my mom was taken to, because i doubt if my mom will be able to remember, I said.
“Yea i thought about the Same thing too, you don’t expect her to remember with all the torture and everything on her brain, Charity said and i cleaned my face.
“Can only one person do such damage? God! I exclaimed.
“Honey its okay don’t worry too much, I think my wound need to be checked, he said.
“Yea that’s right, I said and wanted unbuttoning him but Charity stopped me,
“Wait wait wait, something Is missing here, she said.
“What? I asked.
“I think I am the only one lost here, what’s going on na? She asked and I looked confused.
“Charity please don’t dress my brain na, what do you mean? I asked.
“You and Success, you don’t still understand ba?She asked and i smiled.
“Shebi you don blind ba? Success asked her.
“See don’t insult me o, I ask you? She asked.
“Why you go ask that kind question? He asked back and Charity looked at me.
“Okay sorry i didn’t tell you at first, but we are dating now. i wanted telling you but so many problems came up, I said.
“Indeed, she said with a frown.
“Sorry na, he asked me out after our induction, I wanted telling you trust me, I said hitting her and Success winked at her.
“So this one you were acting brothers and sisters nkor, you were just pretending, she said.
“Hiann is it your pretending abeg? Success asked hitting her.
“Leave me joor, Charity said.
“I’m coming back for you, baby come check me na, Success said dragging me in while I threw kisses at Charity.
“I said it, something was perceiving and you all are not done with me, Charity said and we laughed inside………….
