(The Billionaire Wife)

?Charles pov?
We are still at this stupid party and I don’t think we will be leaving anytime soon. I can see that Ellie is getting bored too. She is the fun one, but she has never actually been into or liked parties. It’s just not her thing. Especially loud party’s full of strangers like this one. Someone or something must have forced her to come. Don’t get me wrong, this is one of those once in a while moments where I get to spend time with her and it always turns out better than expected.
Why couldn’t we just go home, where it’s just two of us and no one else….
She kept on turning around throughout the whole party, like something or someone was bothering her. Fear was written all over her face. I wanted to hold her in my arms, to make sure and tell her that she will never face any harm.
With all that, she was still acting angry. I love it when she gets jealous. I could get used to this.
“Charles, I think we should go home now.” She finally spoke.
You have no idea how long I had been waiting for her to say that.
“Sorry for bringing you along to the worst party ever. I left you alone for almost the whole night, it wasn’t right of me.” It sounded more like a whisper. There was something about her voice that didn’t seem right to me.
“It’s okay, i’m the one who agreed to come, i got to meet an old friend, plus it was not the worst party ever” I might have had a smirk on my face on the last part, i knew it would annoy her. I love seeing her jealous. It makes me want her even more. If someone else has asked me to come here, i wouldn’t have. But she asked me, i just couldn’t say no, besides i just couldn’t risk a chance of another guy checking her out.
I waited for her to get her purse so we could go. As we were about to head out we bumped into one of her friends Mary.
I’ve never really liked her, she seems a bit to forward. She is a bad influence on my girl.
“Mary, sorry but we have to go now. We can’t stay any longer. We forgot that Charles had to attend a dinner party.” Ellie said. If I didn’t know any better I’d say she was trying to use me as an excuse to get out of here, I’m not so sure I blame her. But seriously though, who goes to a dinner party at this time of the night? She just gave me one of her ‘just go with it’ look.
“Lizzy you don’t have to lie to me, I hate it here and you know it’s almost impossible for me to hate a party but I do.” -she paused- “I’ve been trying to get out of here ever since I got here. If he wasn’t my brother I would have been gone.”
Elizabeth was a terrible liar, anyone who knew her could read her like a book. She was like an open book, you just had to understand the languages and you could get any answer you wanted from her.
Mary then turned to look at me, it was really weird she gave me an evil look like she was thinking about a hundred and one ways to kill me. She had this expression on her face, not even I can muster that.
“Ellie, can I talk to Charles for a second.”
Ellie nodded her head in response. She turned to me to give me a look of sympathy before walking away. I wish she had said no or something like ‘we have to go now’. I didn’t feel like dealing with her again, I was in such a good mood tonight and I was determined nothing was going to spoil it, or so I thought. Ellie made her way to the car leaving me with her psycho friend. She waited until Ellie was out of sight before she began talking.
“I never really liked you and I don’t think I ever will. But since my friend is in love with you, even though you both too stubborn to admit it, now I want you to listen to me carefully and listen to me well.” -she paused- “I know that my friend Elizabeth is way too soft, she always sees the good in people even when there is nothing good about them and I know that one day it’s going to be her downfall, so don’t try to mess with her feeling, if she ever shades a drop of tear because of you consider yourself already dead.”
“I know you won’t, remember I’m watching you.”
“You watching me now? it’s not like I get into your business on what you do with my brother. Does your friend know?”
She had a blank expression. She didn’t bother arguing because she knew it was true.
We heard a gun shoot coming somewhere near the parking lot, where Elizabeth was.
“Those kids they never listen, they just won’t stop playing with those fireworks,” Mary said looking a little bit annoyed.
“I’m pretty sure I heard a gunshot,” I said. My heart was pumping faster. The thought of something bad happening to Elizabeth frightened me.
“Realize, it was just some firework. They do this every night at eleven.”
“Anyways, I better get going.”
I turned around ready to go home to my nice fluffy bed. I could already see myself falling asleep.
I couldn’t find Elizabeth. This had to be the spot, I remember her saying we should park our car near the hump sign, that way it’s easier to find it.
The car wasn’t where we parked it either. I thought I was losing my mind for a second. I looked everywhere, besides it’s not like the car could drive itself. I was mostly worried about Elizabeth. I tried calling her phone but it went straight to voicemail.
I went back to the party to find Mary, maybe she came back to Mary after I talked to her.
“Have you seen Elizabeth? I can’t find her.”
“She probably left without you.”
“She couldn’t have, The car is not there but I have the car keys.”
Only then had she started taking this seriously.
We asked everyone if they had seen her or know where she was but we found no clue.
Thought’s started running through my mind, there had to be an explainable reason right. I kept on thinking that I was dreaming but reality would once again hit me.
Where are you Elizabeth?
