CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Next Day.
I opened my eyes to see his face close to mine, he is still asleep. I shrieked in fear at how close he is to me but the fear…., it slowly disappeared.
I don’t know why but I kept staring at his face. I gat to admit, he….is so cute when sleeping, his lips, nose are so perfect. He doesn’t look like the monster I know, he looks soo innocent right now.
I guess he is really a mon$ter in disguise, a mon$ter in an innocent body.
How can a guy be this handsome?, I have never realized that until this moment. I smiled admiring his perfect look, i suddenly became curious about his lips. I leaned closer to his face and glimpsed at his lips.
My senses came back to me, gosh what was I thinking?!. What if he wakes up and sees me close to his handsome face!.
Dmn, only God knows what will be my punishment. He’ll be so mad at me!.
I quickly rest my head on the pillow and closed my eyes, facing the other side of the bed before he wakes.
His phone rings making him awake, i heard his soft yawn which is kind of pleasant to the ears. I sensed he has already sat up on the bed.
“Yeah?.” He says on the phone in a calm sleepy voice.
“Sure, on my way.” His voice turns deep suddenly.
I could tell he stood up from the bed cause it felt light as he walks towards the bathroom.

I got out from my car after parking it well, I smiled glimpsing at the bouquet of flowers i held as i walked to my front porch. I tapped my jean pockets gently as it made me even more happy, yeah am gonna propose to her, the love of my life today.
The front door isn’t locked since she’s around, I was expecting to find her seated at the living room watching tv since that’s her daily habit but she wasn’t there.
“Maybe she is at my room.” I said to myself.
I ascended up the staircase not wanting to make a sound cause it’ll be a surprise for her.
I got to my room, twisted the knob open as the huge grin on my lips disappeared at the sight of her, not just her but with someone else, making out on my b.ed.
Her bare back was facing me so i couldn’t get to see the face of the ba$tard.
“Melissa?.” I say as a tear flew freely down my left cheek.
She turns quickly at my direction at the mention of her name as she looked frightened.
With my mouth in agape, the flowers I held fell on the titled floor immediately I saw the face of the guy properly.
“Ja…Jacob?.” I called in dismay.
“Ryan…., it..it…isn’t what you think.” He tells sharply.
“Babe, i…it wasn’t intentional.” Melissa, my ungrateful fiancé says shivering, in shock i’d say.
“Out!. Both of you!.” I clenched my fists with anger.
“Bro, please understand.” Jacob stands from the bed.
“Out!.” I repeat through gritted teeth.
Melissa walked out of my room hastily without hesitation with a blanket wrapped around her chest.
I turned to face him, disappointed at what he did.
“Bro, am sorry. She….caused it.” He shuddered looking guilty.
“Bro???!. You dare refer me as bro huh!. You know she was my fiancé, you are aware of my love for her so why the h’ll did you chose to back$tab me huh?!.” I yelled at him furiously.
“Ryan please be calm, it really isn’t my fault. Please listen to me…”
“Dmn!. You make me so sick man!. Get out of my house!. You have already had a taste of her so you can have her to yourself, keep her, i don’t need her anymore. Just get the fk out of my house!.” I cut in.
“Ryan..”..
“Please Jacob, get out.” I rubbed my temple trying to control the rage boiling up in my bIood.
I seriously don’t wanna injure him so he should leave before I loose it!.
“Alright.” He nods slowly as he picks up his clothes from the floor and walked out with his shorts on.
Gosh, how disgusting!.
How could Melissa cheat on me with my best friend??!. Jacob!. Of all people!. I never knew she could be this cheap and my stupid self was about to propose to her!.
I feel so maddened in anger and sad, how could i be so foolish not to realize i was hanging around with fake people!. What the fk did i do to deserve this sht from Jacob!.
I removed the small box containing the diamond ring i got for her and smashed it at the floor, feeling extremely mad.
Fk you Jay for doing this to me!.

A WEEK LATER.

After weeping inwardly for a week thinking about mom, I don’t know why but Scott finally made up his mind it’s time I see my mother. I was so happy and for the first time in my misery, I smiled genuinely. I didn’t have to fake it cause I was extremely overjoyed.
Scott sent two fierce looking men to be my escort since he thinks i’ll escape and doesn’t trust me. Although it’s pretty uncomfortable for me to be seen with giant guys but I don’t care, as long as am gonna see my mother again.
I sat at the back sit of the car as one of them drives while the other guy sat at the passenger seat.
At long last, my dream came true. We arrived at my house. I came out from the expensive car and walked towards our front door.
I feel so nervous to face mom, i headed to the door with the men beside me, I felt so inferior walking in between them.
I twisted the door knob but…it…it’s locked.
“Is mom home?. Isn’t she supposed to be back from the hospital?.” I thought worriedly.
My mind went to the foot rug, I bent down and checked it and it was there. If the key is here, then that means mom isn’t around. Where could she be?.
Could she still be at the hospital???!. Oh gosh!.
I turned to face the body guards. “Let’s head to the hospital.” I told them.
“Mr Scott didn’t mention to us about driving you to the hospital so we should go back to the mansion ma’am.” One of them tells with a scary straight look.
No!. We can’t go back when i haven’t seen my mother!. I need to do something fast!.
“Your boss gave you two an order that i visit my mom and clearly, you guys see she isn’t back so it means she’s still at the hospital.” I said confidently.
They looked at themselves simultaneously and faced me. “Alright ma’am.”

AT THE HOSPITAL.
Well, am surprised they took me to the hospital. I know if it was Scott, the situation would have been opposite. In fact, I won’t even dare speak up to him like the way i did to those body guards.
They followed me to the doctor’s office and got in, the doctor looked super shocked when we entered. Well, I don’t blame him cause who wouldn’t be scared by just seeing their scary faces.
“Uhm, how may i help you please?.” He shuddered uncomfortably.
I looked at the body guards and moved close to the doctor’s desk while they stayed back.
“Riley Martins.” I say.
He stared at me, it seemed he was trying to recollect who i am and he did.
“Oh….miss Riley. Am sorry I didn’t remember on time, you look so different now but in a very beautiful way. How have you been….?.”
He got shut by one of the guards who cleared his throat loudly.
“I mean, why are you here?.” He adjust his spectacles.
“My mother. Is she in your hospital?.” I asked getting really disturbed.
“Yes, the surgery was successful. We expected you to come pick her up but you didn’t, she kept calling your name every single day…..”
Oh God…
“Please where is she?.” I cut in, already breaking down
He stood up from his seat, “follow me please.” He tells.

She was in the same ward i left her but she wasn’t laying on the bed. She was on a wheelchair staring out the window backing me.
The doctor understood my mood so he allowed only me to enter into the ward, it was a bit dark.
“Mom…” I called in a low, teary voice. She didn’t turn or move an inch, isn’t she the one or am I in the wrong ward??.
“Aunt Clarissa.” I called again, still the same results.
I walked to her and stayed at her front as i bent down. My gosh, she looks so pale. What the h’ll happened to her, she didn’t face me as she stared into space.
“Mom, it’s me Riley.” I touched her cheeks.
“Mom, please look at me. Am back, your daughter is here to see you again.” I exclaimed in tears.
Slowly….., she faced me as a weak small smile curved on her dry lips which used to be happy.
“Ri….Riley?.” She calls low.
“Yes mom, am here. It’s me.” I sob placing her two hands on my wet cheeks.
“Why?. Why did you leave me?.” She asks as a tear rolled on her cheek, it broke my heart so much to see her cry.
“Am so sorry mom, it wasn’t my fault. I…I…was forced to leave you alone. Please mom….please forgive me.” I weep.
She caressed my cheeks and smiled with a nod. “I love you Riley.”
“Love you too mom.” I hugged her.
She embraced me tight as we both cried.
“I know whatever reason why you left, it is a good one. I love you Riley, always remember am with you and promise me, you’ll always stay strong for me and for your parents.” She mutters in between the hug.
“I promise mom.” I smiled happily. Gosh….i can’t believe am in my mom arms again, my comfort zone.
“I….love you.” Her voice cracked suddenly.
“Mom I have missed you so much. Am sorry I left but it wasn’t my fault. I…I am now married mom, you won’t believe who my husband is, Scott Wilson. He told me if I marry him, he’ll pay for your surgery and I had no choice. That was the reason mom, am deeply sorry. Am here now and i promise to always be by your side, I’ll try to talk bout it to Scott. I want us to be together, forever. Right mom?.”
I pulled away from her grip and looked at her face as i stopped smiling instantly.
Her eyes are closed, her face had become even more pale.
“Mom, what’s wrong?.” I shook her arms.
She didn’t respond or open her eyes, she remained mute.
“Was she sleeping?. Why didn’t she tell me she was feeling sleepy so I could let her rest.” I thought.
“Aunt Clarissa?.” I tapped her repeatedly.
The doctor and two nurses came into the ward in a rush. I watched with tears as the doc placed his stethoscope on mom’s chest. He looked at me with a deep sigh and shook his head sideways.
“What happened to her?.” I inquired from him, still sitting on the floor.
“Am…sorry.” He stated with his emotionless face.
“Sorry??. For what??. Why??. Why is mom asleep?.” I half yelled not wanting to accept where he is heading to.
“She’s gone Miss Riley. Am sorry.”
What??!!!!!. No!. No!.
“No!!!.” I yelled in agony.
The nurses tried to console me but I pushed them away, mom….she can’t die!. Why would she leave me after we’ve made a promise not to leave our sides!.
“Ma’am, we need to leave.” One of the guards says.
No….no…..Mom!!. No!!!!!.
What have I done???.

Two days later, Aunt Clarissa Lilia Velázquez got buried beside momma and papa. No one knew about her death except me since Scott warned me and since he had already made his family believed my loved ones were dead.
Now it is true, my mother, father and beloved Aunt Clarissa is gone. I had no one to talk to, i couldn’t express or show my sadness in front of Scott’s family, I always pretended to be happy but I would let out all the tears whenever am alone.
