I alighted from my car with a deep breathe, the house’s empty and that’s because I gave all my maids and security men some days off duty, it’s all because of the mess that bastard put me in.
I walked towards my front porch, it’s….opened??, the door is opened. How come??, I thought I locked it when I wanted to go out??. Is Jacob or Ryan inside??, cause they are the only people and my family who has the key to my house.
The living room was dark when I got in, I switched the lights on to see her seated on the couch with a big smile on her lips.
“Sister Yuri?.” I called in surprise, now that explains why my door was opened. I am sure i locked it before i left home.
“Scotty, you’re finally home.” She chuckled and stood up to hug me.
“When did you arrive from Canada?.” I ask as we disengage.
“Four hours ago.”
“But you didn’t inform me you’re coming today.” I say as I walked towards the couch and took my seat.
“Yeah, I wanted to surprise you.” She says.
She gave me a weird look with her hand in an akimbo style. “Okay, why are you dressed like a farmer?.”
“A farmer?.” I laughed.
Gosh, I don’t even know the last time have laughed. She’s the only person in my family who makes me alive….Tonia, like I said is a witch. She makes me get tired of life, very annoying.
And mom, she questions everything i do, always trying to know my every step. She’s very nice tho and I love her so much.
“Well, take a look at your dress. You don’t wear these kinds of clothe. Were you at the club??.” She asks.
“Nope.” I shrugged.
“You’re so weird.”
“I know.” I say.
My phone rings from my blazer pocket, I brought it out and picked the call after glancing at the caller.
?Yeah?.”
? Boss, how is she?. What do you think sir?.”
?She’s perfect for the job, nice pick Simon.” I smirked.
“Who are you talking to?.” Sister Yuri whispers as I shrugged.
? So what next sir?.”
? Find some information about her, I wanna know more about her, her picture would be sent to you right away.”
? Alright sir, no problem.”
? Don’t screw up like you did last time Simon, you know what am capable of. Right?.”
? Yes….Sir.” He stutters.
?Good.”
? Very well sir, I’ll call you later sir.” He says as i disconnects the line.
“That was Simon, one of my dogs.” I answered her question.
“Well, I have found the girl that’s gonna sign the damn contract.” I added.
“Really?.” She gasps.
“Yeah.”
“Then, why am I here in America when you’ve already solved your problem.” She scoffs.
“Big sis, seriously?.”
“You’re so annoying, am off to bed now. Good night.” She says standing up to her feet.

On a sunny busy day at work, I received a call from mom’s number. With a happy smile, I answered the call even though i was extremely busy.
? Hey mom, how are you doing?. Is everything alright?.” I said immediately I picked the call.
? Is this Riley Martins?.” A husky voice responded.
My heart raced, why the h’ll is momma’s phone with a man??. Yeah, the voice sounded like a man. Is mom okay??.
“Isn’t this her number?.” I thought as I checked it, yeah it’s her number not someone else’s.
? Hello….?.” The strange person says, jolting me out of my thoughts.
? Yes….yes. Am Riley Martins and please who are you?. Why are you with my mom’s phone?.” I asked, I was completely struck with fear.
? Am Doctor Felix and am calling from the nearest health center. Am sorry to say that your mother got hit by a vehicle and was rushed down to our hospital. Your attention is urgently needed here miss Riley.” He says.
?What!!!?.” I muttered with shaky breath and disconnect the call.
Cathy who was attending to a customer, noticed my reaction and walked close to me.
“Ry, are you alright?.” She asks.
I couldn’t answer, tears was falling down my cheeks. Mom had an accident??!. How come???. No, this can’t happen!!?. Not again!!!… No…!.
“Ry, what’s up??. Why are you crying??!.” She whispers tapping me.
“I have to go.” I stuttered.
“Go where?. What are you talking about?. What’s going on?.”
“We’ll talk later, I gat to go!.” I walked past her and ran out of the restaurant. I was still putting on my work dress but I didn’t care cause my mind was fixed on mother.
Is she alright??.

I took a cab to the huge hospital with the little change with me.
“Please where is my mom?.” I stopped a nurse who was coming out from a wardroom with few files in her hands.
“Excuse me?.” She furrows her brow, staring at me confusedly.
“She was rushed to this hospital….”
“Oh, you must be miss Riley Martins?.” She asked with a straight face.
“Yes i am. Where is she please?.” I cried.
“Follow me, you have to see the doctor in charge first.” She tells.
Seriously?!. I nod and trailed behind her, we stopped at a door as she knocked gently on it.
We heard a soft voice saying ‘come in’, she twisted the door knob as we both entered.
“Sir. She is the daughter of the woman who had an accident.” She tells the man dressed in a well neat ironed white coat with stethoscope around his neck.
“You’re welcome miss, do have your seat.” He says.
“You may leave.” He tells the nurse who nodded in response and obeyed.
“Doc, is my mom alright?.” I ask immediately I took my seat opposite him.
“Well…you’ll have to be calm miss. She had a shock when the vehicle ran into her and am afraid that it has lead to an heart attack. What she needs now is a coronary Angioplasty surgery.”
Surgery?? Heart attack??.. Gosh!!. What was mom doing on the road??. I thought I left her asleep for work this morning?.
“This surgery helps restore blood flow to the heart muscle through the coronary arteries by routing bIood vessels around the blocked area.” He tells.
“How….how much will it take to carry out the surgery?.” I nibbled on my lips with tears.
“A hundred million dollars will do miss Riley.” He replies adjusting his spectacles.
What??!!
“But….but…that’s too much doctor. Where the h’ll am I going to see such a huge sum of money?.” I blurt out.
“Well…miss Riley, this is concerning your mother’s life and we cannot start the surgery if the money isn’t available.” He says as I felt a sudden heat.
God why???!. Where will I find the money??. My salary isn’t even up to anything at all.
“Please can’t you at least treat her?..” I say after being quiet for some minutes.
“Am sorry, no. She needs the surgery.” He tells emotionlessly.
“Relax miss Riley. Everything will be fine immediately the surgery is done.”
“Can I please see her?.” I asked.
“Yes. Let’s go.” He gestures at the door.
“Thank you.” I say and stood up. We both walked out of his office, I kept crying silently till we reached a wardroom. He opens the door as we entered.

Oh my good Lord!. All her body was bandaged except her face. I walked towards her with shaky legs and stared at her with pity.
“Mom…” I exclaimed tearfully.
“Who did this to you?.” I mumbled in tears and held her hand.
“Please don’t leave me mom. You’re my only family, mom and dad are gone so please I beg you, do not leave me!. Remember when you promised you’re gonna stay by my side forever?. Please stay mom…..” I sobbed.
She didn’t respond and wasn’t moving an inch. It broke my heart so much to see her in this situation.
“Miss, it’s time to go now.” The doctor who was standing at the door side speaks up.
“Can I please stay for a little while?.” I begged.
“No, you can’t miss.”
I nodded painfully. I slowly left her had and walked away from her after a glance at her.
“You’ll be fine mom. I’ll find any means to raise the money quickly, I promise you’ll be okay again. I love you.” I say within me.
