Episode 12
Zoey’s Pov:
Mandy and I entered the hospital building and went straight to the nurses at the desk.
“Good evening, ma’am,” Mandy greeted first, and I followed.
“Hi, how can I help you, please?” She asked with a friendly smile.
“Um… we’re here to inquire about a corpse that was brought in a few nights ago.
She’s a young lady and was st.abbed, and…”
“Oh! Did she have red hair?” She asked.
“Yes, yes. She’s the one,” I nodded repeatedly.
“Please, I…I just want to know if you have any information about her. Like…her family, friends…”
“She doesn’t have any family,” she replied, and I flinched.
“We’ve been trying to reach anyone who might know her, but to no avail.
But a while ago, someone came to see her. He’s still in there.”
Mandy and I looked at each other.
“Really?” I asked anxiously.
“Yeah…”
“Can you take us to the room, please?”
She hesitated for a while.
“Okay, come with me,” she replied and started walking away, and Mandy and I followed behind.
“Are you sure about this?” Mandy whispered to me, but I didn’t say anything.
We kept walking for a long time and finally, the nurse stopped in front of a door.
“That’s the room,” she said, and I looked at Mandy, suddenly feeling scared.
“Thank you,” I stuttered and headed for the door.
I clasped my hand around the hinges and gulped nervously before turning the knob and opening the door.
I saw him!
He was crying over her.
Oh God!
I couldn’t tell why I suddenly felt nervous. My throat became sore.
He noticed me and turned to look at me, and our eyes met.

Zoey’s Pov:
He noticed me and turned to look at me, and our eyes met.
He quickly wiped his face and, of course, looked surprised seeing me there.
“Who are you?” He asked huskily.
“What do you want?”
I turned and looked behind me. Mandy didn’t come in with me.
“I’m talking to you,” he said again, making me turn back to him.
“Um…I’m…I’m just here to see the lady,” I replied a bit twitchy.
“I was there with her the night she died. She…”
“You were there?” He snapped in a scary way, making me freeze a little.
“What happened to her? What do you know about it?”
Gosh! He looked bad-tempered.
“I didn’t do anything to her, okay? I was just…I was by the roadside, waiting for a cab when I saw her running towards me.
She was wounded and fell right in front of me. I had wanted to get some help, but…”
I paused, recalling what had happened.
“Please, who’s she to you? Do you know her?” I asked instead, and he sniffed and turned to look at her.
“Why are you asking?” He muttered.
“Because…I don’t know, but I think she was pregnant. And…I think she might’ve transferred her baby to me.”
