Episode 17
“It’s a long story, Rana. Are my parents in the throne room?” Zosar asked.
“Oh, yes! Perfect timing.
“Come with me,” she held his hand and started walking with him, while I followed, naively.
There were pretty flowers planted around the corridors as we walked along and got to what seemed like the throne room.
There were two guards on post, and they bowed and opened the royal door as soon as the prince got there.
Wow! Indeed, it was the throne room.
I saw a man on the throne and a pretty woman standing before him. And they all turned to look at us.
“Son!” The woman exclaimed and scurried to us.
Oh! His mother!
She smiled happily as she got to where he was and pulled him in a hug.
“Oh, my days!! You’re home! I missed you, love,” she said with so much relief and happiness.
“Mother, I’ve been gone for just a few hours…”
“Yes, but it seems like forever to me, son,” she giggled and looked at me.
“Good evening, dad,” Zosar greeted with his head bowed.
“Zosar,” the king called.
“Finally, you came back. I was thinking your woman wouldn’t let you come home.”
“Hold on; where’s Hathor? Didn’t you find her? And who’s she?” The queen asked with her eyes dancing around me.
Am I supposed to greet?
“Uh…Good evening ma. Good evening sir,” I said with a little bow.
“Who’s she?” The king asked, makes me really nervous.
Then, Zosar held my hand and took me closer to the throne.
“Father, mother,” he called.
“Hathor is dead.”
“What?” The queen muttered.
“Yes – unfortunately. But before she did, she transferred the baby to Zoey over here. And right now, Zoey’s pregnant with my child.”
A short silence stepped in as all eyes rested on me.
“You mean…she’s carrying Hathor’s child?” The queen asked, and even before Zosar could say a word, the king chipped in.
“How on earth is that possible? I mean, how did it happen? Who’s she to Hathor?” He asked.
“She’s no one, dad. They just bumped into each other, and she had no idea that Hathor transferred the baby to her.
“It wasn’t easy, but through luck, I was able to find her. And she agreed to come stay with me till delivery,” he explained, and the king stared with dissatisfaction.
Suddenly, the queen started coming towards me, and I flinched.
What’s she coming to do?
She kept her eyes fixed on me as she walked and stood in front of me. And unexpectedly, she placed her hand on my tummy.
“Oh my!” She gasped.
“It’s true! She’s really pregnant! Oh, good saviors! You’re carrying my grandchild,” she laughed and embraced me.
Huh?
Wow! I…guess I wasn’t expecting this.
“You look so pretty, dear. Your name is Zoey, right?” She asked ecstatically.
“Yes,” I said with a lowered gaze, and she laughed and dressed my hair.
“This is awesome. Thank goodness you’re in time for the party. Come on, Zosar.
Why don’t you take her to her room so she could rest before the party commences?”
