Episode 70

As we reached outside, I was relieved to see Zach still waiting.

“Huh? Are we taking the car?” Axel asked as we approached it.

“Yes, he’s just being helpful,” I replied, feeling a little uneasy.

We got closer, and to my surprise, he magically opened the car door with his eyes, without even touching it.

What’s happening?

I gasped and quickly glanced around to ensure no one had noticed.

“Hey! Axel! I’ve told you to stop doing that in public, haven’t I?” I scolded him.

“Yeah, I know,” he shrugged and hopped into the car.

Oh my!

I shook my head and opened the front door, getting in as well.

“Hey, buddy,” Zach turned to him and said.

“Yeah, hi, dude,” Axel replied, which amused me.

Where did he learn that?

“What’s up? How was school today?” Zach asked.

“Yeah,” he simply replied, gazing out of the window.

Huh? What’s wrong with him?

I looked at him and tried to signal him to greet properly, but he ignored my glances.

I don’t understand. Doesn’t he like Zach or what?

I rolled my eyes, sat properly, and Zach started the car, driving off.

I wonder what’s bothering Axel. He’s just as stubborn as his father.

Zach engaged in small talk during the journey, but suddenly, he screeched the car to a halt, narrowly avoiding htting a woman.

“Oh my God!” I exclaimed as I watched the woman fall to the ground.

Oh my goodness!
Please, let her be okay.

I quickly opened the door and rushed out to assist her as she struggled to stand.

“Ma’am, I’m so sorry. Are you…”

My words trailed off as she finally stood up, and I got a good look at her face.

What?!

I flinched and stepped back as she also appeared shocked to see me.

“Mom?” I called, utterly surprised.

The Queen:
I knelt in the temple, offering sacrifices to the saviors – like I’ve been doing for the past 5 years.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I lifted the plate of hot ashes and circled it around the image.

I did so for 3 times before dropping it back on the floor.

Then, I placed my palms together and prayed – praying for my son to wake up.

For the past five years, I’ve been incomplete – hopeless -since the witch tried to kll my son on the day of his wedding.

She had st.abbed him with a po!soned da.gger, but thankfully, he didn’t die immediately but has been in a coma for the past five years.

We’ve tried so many doctors, but none has been able to wake him and since then, I always come to the temple to pray to the saviors for their help.

Rana has gotten married already. As soon as he went into a coma, she got married the following month. Everything has been hopeless.

Oh! Zosar, if only he knows how much I miss him.

I wept bitterly and prayed with more fervor.

Is there no hope for him at all? If he dies, I’ll just have to die as well.

I stayed there for more than an hour, offering my sacrifices and prayers and after a while, I heard someone running in.

“My queen! My queen!”

I turned swiftly to see a maid running in, like she was being chased by a wild animal.

“What is it?” I asked, alarmed, still on my knees.

“My queen, it’s the prince…the prince…your son…he’s awake!” She said in deep breaths and my heart skipped.
