Chapter 30
” Hi kids,” Dad said as he was walking in from work.
” Hi dad,” we said simultaneously.
” Are you okay, ” He asked coming to sit next to me. Ethan had already told him everything that happened today and he looked pretty worried.
” Yes Dad, am good am really glad you are home early, ” I said leaning on his chest as he wrapped his arms around me.
“I wanted to spend more time with you. Am sorry all this is happening to you, I’d give anything to keep you from going through this, ” he said kssing the top of my head.
” We ran into Jake in the hospital. The police told us that he got into a fight and he was beat up very badly,”I said withdrawing from his warm embrace.
” Yes..I know but that’s not what happened. A friend of mine at the police station told me that Jim paid some inmates to beat him up. Apparently Jim thinks that his father is going to give him away, since I went to see him yesterday, but he sure is wrong! Jake never told me anything about his where about and there’s no way he is going to betray his son ,”Dad said .
” That Jim is really loosing it! This clearly shows us just how dangerous he is, he doesn’t even give a damn about his own father, ” Ethan said.
” Don’t worry sky we, wont let history rewrite it self , never!” Dad said and I could sense a bit of fear in his voice.
I hated the fact that i was making him relive what he went through with mum. I know that he promised my mum that he wasn’t going to blame himself for what happened to her but he lied.
The fact that he never remarried shows that he still hasn’t moved on from her and never gave himself a chance to be happy again.
” I know Dad,” I said smiling at him.
” okay ,”Dad said getting up from the couch. ” I’ll make us something delicious for dinner.”
” Not today Dad. You look exhausted and tired let me cook for you guys today, ” Ethan said as Dad and i looked at each other, in surprise. ” Hey? you don’t have to act surprised, I might not like to cook but that doesn’t mean that I can’t! ”
The last time Ethan Cooked was five years ago. Dad was working g late and I was very hungry and couldn’t wait up for him.He was forced to make me something because I kept on nagging him. He had never really volunteered himself, ever!
” Wow Ethan!..am impressed, ” I said as he rolled his eyes and left for the kitchen.
” So.. we have a lot of free time on our hands, what would you want us to do, anything ” Dad asked excitedly, sitting back down.
” I’d love for you to take me shopping but it’s to late for that now, so we should just watch a movie and keep an eye on Ethan, just in case he burns the house down ,” I said and Dad smiled.
” That’s a good plan and I have the perfect series, it’s one of my favourite, and I know you’ll love it,” he said getting up, walking towards his bedroom.
He came back seconds later with a wide grin on his face holding a cd.
” The name of the series is Mind your language. It’s actually pretty old but I can’t seem to get enough of it, ” he said inserting it in the DVD player and later joining me on the couch.
The series was about an English teacher who was trying to make a living by teaching English to immigrant and Dad wasn’t kidding when he said that it was hilarious. Atleast it made me forget about my problems for a few hours.
After we were done with dinner which was unbelievable delicious! I excused myself and went to my room to lay down. I wanted to be at the hospital early morning to check on Serena. I took a shower and went straight to bed. Before I could lay my head down there was a knock on the door and Jay walked in.
” Hi, ” he said coming closer, siting on the bed .
” Hi, I missed you, ” I said as he moved closer hugging me tightly.
” I missed you more,” he said pulling back. Something was bothering him, I saw it the moment he walked in the room. He was acting pretty tense and his face looked sad.
” Tomorrow is your big day, huh? I can’t wait to see you performing ,” I said as he stroked the palm of his hand down my cheek slowly and softly, looking at me in a way that made me want to melt.
” We cancelled the show Sky.”
” What,why?!
” It doesn’t feel right to have the show now, when everything is messed up. ”
“But you were so excited about it, and I was excited to see you up there singing your heart out too! This was supposed to be one of your best gigs and I ruined it, Am sorry.”
” It’s not your fault. I actually did it for me.Am not in the right mindset right now. I want to be with you, protecting you from that crazy guy.”
” I don’t want you putting your dreams on hold because of me! Everything would have been fine, Eddy and Ethan were going to be with me the whole time!” I said.
” Jim managed to enter your house under their noses. I don’t want anything else happening to you , I wont be able to forgive myself.”
” Okay…but please don’t do that again. Just because my life is crazy right now doesn’t mean that you should stop living yours. You are already doing more than enough for me.”
He cupped my face with his hands kssing my forehead, then gathers me in his arms pressing me tightly against him and ksses my hair.
“There can never be more than enough, when it comes to you. I love you with all I have and i’d give it all for you and this is not just some teen talk… I mean it.”
This is actually the first time that he said he loved me and that makes my heart race in away that I’ve never felt before.
I moved back just a little and looked up into his eyes smiling as he watched me with his enigmatic eyes. ” You love me?”
The edges of his lips lifted with a smirk as I stared at them, remembering how his lips felt like against my own and I couldn’t help but lick my lips.
His breath quickened as he leaned in his face inches from mine, his eyes on my lips and my heart sped up.
” What do you think? ” he asked slowly and seductively his lips touching the spot just below my ear and I moan.
” I think, that’s a yes, ” I said smiling as he stared at me.
” I love seeing you smiling. I think you have no idea how cute you are, ” he said his lips twisted into a sexy grin, the one that makes my hormones all tied up into a knot. I lean in on him my head resting on his chest as he wrapped his arms around me.
” Am going to visit Serena at the hospital early morning, will you come with me, ” I asked against his chest. I know he knows about Serena because i heard Ethan tell him on the phone, but it looked like he didn’t want to talk much about it.
“Of course, and there’s something I have to tell you about her, ” he said pulling back from me. “I went over to her place and she tried to….
” You don’t have to explain anything to me, ” I said cutting in. ” I trust you a hundred percent.
His eyes lock with mine, and then he ksses me softly on the mouth.
” Am officially the luckiest guy in the world, ” he said smiling against my lips.
