Jays pov
” I don’t think you are doing your job right Eddy. Jim has been able to get to us three times on your watch already! You are so incompetent. ”
” I really don’t know how he managed to get past me .”
” That’s what you said last time, what if he’d hurt her,” I said trying to compose myself.
I was putting all the blame on him because I didn’t want to admit to myself that it was all my fault. I promised to protect her but i failed badly! I was in the same house with him torturing her, but i couldn’t help her.
” Don’t worry young man we are going to assign another officer to work with Eddy. Now that jims hurt, I think he is going to lay low for some days. We actually have people watching his house and any other place that he’d think of hiding, ” one of the officer said. I think he was their boss or something.
” Okay, but I think someone close to us is helping him out, and that’s why he keeps getting away from us.”
“I think so to and believe me we are working on that. ” he said.
Most of the people from the neighborhood were outside worried about the safety. The police officer walked over to them assuring them them that everything was under control and if they knew something they should report it.
I didn’t want to go inside yet. The only thing that was on my mind was how i was going to face sky after i let her down. I decided to drive around the neighborhood just to see if i could get lucky and maybe spot that ba$tard but luck wasn’t on my side.
” So, how is sky, ” I asked Ethan as soon as i got back to her house.
” She’s asleep now and celyn is keeping her company. ”
” That’s good, she needs all the rest she can get.”
” She was asking for you won’t you go and see her. ”
” I will but not now. I feel guilty for not being able to protect her from that $¢umbag! ”
” Don’t beat yourself up for things you don’t have control over. None of us saw that coming and neither of us is to be blamed. ”
” I know , but i just can’t help it,” I said as Mr Banks, sky’s father was walking in the house.
” Hi guys, how is she?” Mr Bank asked.
” She’s fine,” Ethan said.
” Someone is coming over tomorrow to install security cameras outside the house. I’ll be able to keep an eye on sky even when am working and Jim will surely be caught the second he steps in our compound again. ”
” That’s a great idea. How come we never thought of that before, anyway have you informed the police? ” I asked.
He came and sat next to me. ” No why?”
” I don’t trust those guys. I think this should stay between us not even sky should know. That would make it easy to catch the mole within us,” I said.
” That’s a great idea, anyway I came to check on sky but since she’s resting I won’t bother her. Am going over to the police station to see Jake, maybe he can give me some information about Jim’s whereabouts, ” Mr Bank said getting up , ready to go.
” Do you think he’ll sell out his own son? ” I asked holding my chin on my hand.
” I don’t know but am willing to try. If he has really changed and is repenting as he says, then he’ll show it by helping me, don’t you think?”
” I doubt that. Once a thief always a thief. I think he has a hidden agenda, and aren’t visiting hours over yet? ”
Ethan asked.
” Don’t worry I know a guy, I wont be long, “Mr Bank said taking his car keys and walking out.
” I have to go somewhere too, I’ll be back soon.
” Can I ask where? ”
” I’ll be sure to tell you once I get back, ” I said walking out and rushing to my car.
There were so many puzzles that I needed to solve and I wasn’t planning on wasting any more time. Serena had the answers to most of my questions and I was heading over to her place.
“Hi Jay come in, ” Mrs Johnson said welcoming me into her house.
” Thank you. Is Serena in? I would like to talk to her. ”
” She’s in her room, you can go right up, ” she said with a smile.
I smiled back at her, then turned and went up the stairs to her room. I knocked on the door but there was no answer. I knocked again, louder this time and again got no answer.
” Serena ,it’s Jay . Can you please open the door,I need to talk to you. ”
She opened the door instantly surprised, and moved a little gesturing for me to walk in.
” What brings you here? Did you already get bored of sky and came for the real thing?” She asked locking the door behind her.
” Stop talking nonsense. I want to know who called to tell you about sky and also the person who sent you those photos.”
” Why did you choose her and not me Jay? ”
” What? ”
” Am I not attractive enough for you? If there’s something you don’t like about me, I’ll change it without a second thought, ” Serena said taking my hand.
” You are perfect okay? You don’t have to change anything about yourself. I love sky and that’s why I chose her. Just accept it and stop torturing yourself .”
Serena came forward pressing her body against mine and placing one hand on my neck and the other on my chest.
” I love you Jay and I don’t think I can live without you,” She said trying to kss me but I moved back.
” What do you think you are doing?! Am you best friends boyfriend and I did not come here for this.”
” What best friend? The one who betrayed me?! ”
” Just tell me who sent you the photos already!… On second thought, I think i’ll just go. ”
” Wait, it was Jim. He is the one who called and sent me the photos. He wanted me to join him and help him get to Sky but, i could never do that to her, even though she hurt me in the worst way ever! ”
” Don’t you think you should have told us or maybe the police about it ?”We could have tracked his calls and finally catch him.”
” I didn’t think of that then. ”
” Has he called you lately? ”
” No, the last time he called me was when he sent me the photos. but I can help you get to him, ” She said.
” How? ”
“He left me a number that I can reach him with, if I ever changed my mind. I can call him and plan to meet and then you can finally catch him.”
“Jim isn’t that stupid. I don’t think he’ll fall for it.”
” I can be convincing if I want to. Just leave it all to me. ”
” Thank you Serena. It’s good to know you are still willing to help sky .”
” And who said am doing it for sky! Am actually doing this for myself, ” Serena said walking $eductively close to me and biting her lips.
” What are you talking about? ” i said walking past her and standing beside her bed.
” If you want me to help you. You have to spend one night with me and not just sleeping. I want you to make love to me and make me feel like am the most beautiful girl in the universe,” she said unbuttoning her shirt.
” That will never happen. Am never cheating on sky, and you better stop acting crazy! this isn’t funny anymore.”
” Isn’t sky’s life and peace of mind important to you? ”
“Of course it is. ”
” Then you have no choice. I wont tell if you don’t, ” she said tossing her shirt on the side .
” I can’t…. I have to go,” I said walking past her but she pushed me roughly on the bed. Before I could blink she was on top of me trying to rip off my shirt.
” What the hell is happening here?! A voice said from behind. I pushed Serena aside just to find Chris standing at the door his mouth wide open.
” What are you two doing? ”
” Nothing, your sister is just obsessed and won’t keep her hands off me! ”
“well…good luck explaining it to sky, ” Serena said with a smirk.
” There’s nothing to explain because nothing happened! ” I said almost yelling.
” So you won’t tell her, ” Chris asked raising his eyebrows .
” Of course I will. Am not planning on hiding anything from her,” I said looking from him to Serena. ” If this was your plan to separate us then it was a lame one! Do you even have Jim’s number or were you just fking with me?”
” I do have it but , since you wont give me what I want, you are going to have to fight your own battles now won’t you?” Serena said grinning.
” Your sister is loosing it! If you really care for sky like you always claim you do, you should convince her to help us get rid of Jim, ” I said walking out of the room.
I knew Serena was crazy, but I just didn’t know his own crazy!
