CHAPTER 62

In my grief-stricken mind, I felt as if I didn’t deserve happiness or forgiveness.

The kitchen felt suffocating, a prison of remorse, as if I were trapped in a cycle of self-blame from which there was no escape.

The photo slipped from my grasp, falling to the floor with a soft thud. My hands trembled as I wiped away the tears, the pain etched into my expression.

In the depths of my despair, I knew I had to find a way to forgive myself and also Eric’s forgiveness, to carry Seth’s memory forward with love rather than self-blame.

But for now, in that empty kitchen, all I could do was surrender to my grief, allowing the tears to flow until there were none left.

Hoping that one day, the burden of guilt would ease, and I could find solace in the memories of the person i had lost and the lessons learned from his sacrifice.

After what seems like hours sitting in the kitchen I decided to go and see Eric with the little courage I have.

As I entered Eric’s room, I could still feel the sting of his hurtful words from the kitchen.

My heart ached with every step, but I refused to give up on their love.

Despite his pain, I knew Eric still cared for her deep down.

“Eric, please,” I pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper. “I know you’re hurting, and I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through.

But I love you, and I’m truly sorry for what happened to Seth.”

Her words faltered as Eric’s anger flared once more. He lashed out, pushing her away emotionally with even more force.

The weight of hopelessness settled over Nyx, but she fought back tears and continued, “I’m not asking you to forget or forgive me right now.

I just want to be here for you, to support you through this unimaginable pain.”

Eric’s eyes softened momentarily, but the anger and grief quickly resurfaced. “I can’t handle this right now,” he said, his voice trembling, but it became void as he spoke.

“You support me , don’t make me laugh . Just get out , get out from my life so I can have peace once in my life ”

The tears that I was holding started to fall, my heart breaking in silence.

I knew forcing herself on Eric wouldn’t help, but the love I felt for him made walking away nearly impossible.

As she turned to leave, Nyx whispered one last time, “I’ll be here whenever you’re ready to talk, to heal together.”

And with that, she walked out of Eric’s room, leaving behind the man she loved, hoping that time and patience would eventually mend the wounds and bring them back together.

Tomorrow is the day I’ll be killed but I deserve it. I killed Seth.

As I sat alone in this prison, the weight of remorse bore heavily upon me.

The memory of that fateful day when I accidentally shot my step-brother Seth haunted me relentlessly.

I never intended to hurt him; it was an unfortunate accident, and yet, Seth had selflessly taken the bvllet meant for Nyx.
