CHAPTER 67

End of flashback

It’s been five years and I became a lawyer in the case if child abuse.

I don’t want any child to go through what I went through and I know there are millions of us in the world who are going through that same thing.

I put any parents who abuse their children behind the bars without any mercy .

Eric has been the best thing that has happened to me in my entire life.

Although we had our ups and down, we always found a way .

I was sitting in the sitting room waiting for Eric to get back from work .

Ohh, I forgot to tell you that Eric asked me out after my graduation and I said yes to be his girlfriend.

Aren’t I the luckiest girl in the world? Yes I know the answer to that.

Waiting for Eric and I’m beginning to get worried but as I was about to call him his bodyguard told me something happened to Eric.

Fear was already crippling in my heart as I took one of the Mercedes Benz Eric gifted me on my graduation from high school.

My driver drove me to wherever Eric was but to my surprise it arrived at the beach.

Confused and worried, I sat in the back of the car as the bodyguard drove me to the beach.

My heart raced, fearing something terrible had happened to Eric.

Thoughts of accidents and emergencies filled my mind, making my palms sweat and my breath shallow.

The car came to a stop, and as I stepped out onto the sandy shore, I scanned the area, desperately searching for any sign of Eric.

Then, I heard a faint melody carried by the wind – a song that held a special place in our hearts.

My eyes followed the sound, and there he was, standing a short distance away, surrounded by flickering candles and soft, twinkling fairy lights that illuminated the beach.

My breath caught as I saw him, dressed in a suit that highlighted his rugged charm, his eyes locked onto mine with a mixture of nerves and adoration.

With each step I took, my heart pounded louder, my confusion giving way to a growing sense of wonder.

Eric’s voice broke through the night, his words filled with sincerity and love as he spoke of our journey together, the memories we had created, and the future he envisioned for us.

As he knelt down on one knee and held out a ring, my eyes brimmed with tears of astonishment and joy.

“Will you marry me, Nyx?” he asked, his voice trembling with emotion.

My surprise turned into overwhelming happiness, and I could feel tears streaming down my cheeks as I nodded through choked sobs.

“Yes, Eric, a thousand times yes.” In that moment, the worries of the world melted away, leaving only the two of us on that enchanting beach, wrapped in the embrace of a love that had taken me completely by surprise.
