Chapter Thirty

The man in my dream

Calvin rushed into his office and walked towards Erica.

“Is she okay?” She asked as she watched him walking towards her.
Calvin didn’t say anything. He only pulled her hands closer to his body and wrapped his arms around her.

“Thank you Erica, thank you!” He whispered softly.
Erica secretly blushed. She didn’t respond to the hug, her hands were just facing the floor.

He left her and stared at her again.
“I promise to make it up to you” he said.

“You don’t have to. I didn’t do anything serious” she replied.

“Of course you did. You just saved her life. She got replaced and the person she was replaced with got into the accident. According to the news, her chances of living is 50 50” he said.

“That’s bad. I pray she survives”

“Oh Erica, I just feel like hugging you over and over again. Thank you for saving my sister’s life” he said. Erica just lowered her gaze and blushed.

“I want to say thank you. Dinner tonight?” He asked.

“Uh… Sure” she said.

“I’ll pick you up by 7” he added and walked to his seat.

Erica sat on her chair and swallowed her lips. She was happy gets to go out with Calvin. She tried to comport herself and continued with her work.

“What the fk!!! You have to get ready immediately, you have an hour left” Ava yelled at Erica who was playing a game she just found on her phone.

“I will… I just have to finish the game. It’s so amazing. Look, anytime I hit the wall, gorilla will chase me” she said.

“Are you kidding me? Those are games for kids. My younger brother loves that game as fk!” She said and continued searching for an outfit in her wardrobe.

“It’s fun! You should totally try it out”

“Whatever girl… Your wardrobe is as dry as that game. There’s nothing good to wear here”

“I can wear my office wear. It’s just dinner” Erica said and continued playing the game.

“I’ll be back” Ava said and left the room.

After few seconds, Ava came back with some dress.
“It’s not just any dinner, it’s a date Erica!” She said.

“Sht! I’ve lost. The water whooshed me away. Argh” Erica finally dropped her phone and concentrated on her outing.

“It’s the same thing Erica. Dinner, date whatever. Now pick a dress!”

“Mr Calvin asked me… Dinner tonight? Not date tonight? So, there’s a big difference” she said and picked the black outfit from Ava.

“Whatever! Dress quickly, I’ll fix your hair” Ava said as left the room in happiness.

“$illy!” She said and went into the bathroom to bath.

“Few minutes later…
“Erica!!! The car is here!” Ava yelled.

“Be down in a sec!”

“How do I look?” Erica asked.
Ava turned and gazed at her.

“What I can say is a wow! You are gonna make Calvin really hard tonight”

“Hard what?”

“You won’t understand girl… Just get going. Don’t keep your date waiting” she said.

“Argh!” She groaned and walked out of the house.
She was feeling uncomfortable with the short dinner gown she was wearing. Ava made her wear some heavy make-up.

The driver opened the door for her and she got in. He entered into the car and drove off.

Erica saw that the driver was driving to the mansion.

“Why here?!” She wished she could scream out but she just kept quiet.

He opened the door for her again and she stepped out.
A soft thank you escaped her lips.

He led her into the house but it was looking quite different.
Everywhere was dark except from a beautiful dinner table which a spot light shone upon.

“Wow” she murmured.

“Welcome erica!” She heard his voice and raised her head. She could not see him but he could see her. The house was dark!

“Hi master!” She said and Calvin laughed.

“You are off work, so just call me by my name,. Calvin”

“Okay sir, i mean Master” she stammered.

“Call me Calvin Erica, let me hear you say my name” he said and strained his ears so that he would hear her voice.

“Cal..vin” she spoke softly.

“I didn’t hear that. Call me like you mean it”

“C.. Calvin?” She said without certainty.

“Erica… Call my name like you love me” he said, placing his hands on her shoulders.

“Calvin..” she said with a soft voice while glaring into his eyes.

“Much better” he said and pulled out a chair for her.

She snapped out of her thoughts and sat quietly.
“Call my name like you love me. What the heck! Are you kidding me?” She yelled in her mind.
She wished she could call his name like the way she call his name when talking to Ava.

“Chicken or vegetable?”

“Huh?” She asked like she didn’t get what he said.

“Do you want chicken or green?” He asked again.

“Chicken is fine” she said.

Calvin clapped his hands and some waiters appeared.
“Yes master!” They bowed.

“We’ll take chicken” he said.

“Yes master!” They bowed again and left.

“So, what do we talk about?” He asked smiling.

“Uh, I have no idea” she chuckled.

“Is this your first date?”

Erica heard him asked.
“Date? Did he just say date? I thought it was dinner, arghh Ava!” She thought. She can’t believe Ava was right, it was a date after all.

“No, it’s not” she said.

Suddenly, the waiters appeared with their meals. They stylishly served the meal. Erica shot her eyes wide open when she saw the full chicken that was roasted and garnished with a lot of spices. It was so beautiful and the aroma went straight into her head.

Calvin had his own. He was expecting her to finish the whole chicken.

“I can’t finish this. It’s way too much for me” she said.

“I also can’t finish mine, so we have to compete with each other” he said.

Erica squeezed her face. She didn’t understand what he meant by what he said.

He noticed the look on her face and brought out his wallet.
He dropped one of his credit card on the table.

“If you finish first, you can take my credit card. If I do, I’ll take it back” he said.

“So, everything is for my favor. I’m not gonna give you anything?” She asked.

“No”

“It’s a deal then!” She said and grabbed her fork. She started eating with the fork and knlfe. She got frustrated by it and threw it away. She used her hands and ate the chicken quickly.

Calvin hasn’t started eating. He just watched her as she ate the chicken so quickly.

“There’s more than three billion dollar in this credit card, what are you going to do with the money?”

“What? Billion?” She spat out and he nodded.

She didn’t speak anymore. She just continued eating the chicken.

Calvin clapped his hands again and the waiters came.
“Yes master?”

“Get a bottle of wine!” He said.

“Yes master!” He said and left.

After some minutes, Erica was done with the chicken.
She sighed deeply, her mouth was stained with the whole spices.
She leaned back on the chair, breathing hard.

“Oh, look who’s here! I can see why the house was so dark. Hey! Turn on the light!”

“Get away Barbie!” Calvin rolled his eyes.

“What are you going to slap me like Kelvin did?” She asked, with a mockery smile.

“What are you saying?” He asked and stood up, walking towards her.

“I should probably leave, thanks for the dinner!” Erica said and sprung up.

“No! Sit!” He yelled as she quickly obeyed. He moved closer to Barbie and grabbed her arm.

“Don’t talk to her like that. She saved…”

“So what? I don’t care if she save your a$s. As far as she’s here, I’m leaving” she said and left.

“Barbie! Barbie!” He yelled but she didn’t listen. He just walked as she walked out of the house.

“Why were you about to leave?” He asked Erica.

“I didn’t want to be the cause of any problem with you and your sister. I feel like she hates me”

“Never do that again. Understood?” He asked, pointing at her. She nodded and held her purse tight.

“Here! You won. Congratulations!” He said and gave her his credit card.

“I’m not going to say no” she said and collected it from him. She stared at it for some minutes, with a smiley face.

“Be careful, alright?” He asked and she nodded again.

“I’ll tell the driver to send you home”

“How about the plan you had? I hope it’s still available” Barbie yelled as she walked towards the counter.

Olivia turned and glared at Barbie with a smirk on her face.
“Twenty four hours, twenty four hours was all I need to get you to come back on your own”.
