I sniggered at James knowing fully well that he doesn’t know the astounding news that would be announced the next day.
Rita opted to take me home that day and I concurred.
“You’ll be driving this car from tomorrow,” she said.
I chuckled and looked her in the eyes “why are you so good? ” I asked.
“It’s good to be good and the first day I saw you, I knew you are my man” she replied.
“Why did you try to se..ducé me when I came for an interview in your company,” I asked her again.
“Honestly, I got attracted to you immediately I set my eyes on you” she returned.
I burst into laughter and said, “But, we aren’t dating”.
She looked at me as though I had said something bad
“I know, but I love you” she muttered.
“I don’t think I love you dear,” I said zealously
“I am still attracted to my wife” I added.
Rita was full of rage and fear and she didn’t talk to me again. She was driving like she was drunk and I couldn’t tell her to stop driving that way.
We got to the house and she entered the room speedily. She saw balloons, wines and flowers immediately she opened the bedroom.
She turned and saw me squatting with a golden ring.
“Will you marry me?” I asked her.
Rita was shocked and tears of Joy started dropping down her cheeks
” Yes,” she shouted.
I was grinning like a Cheshire cat when I got a positive response from her. We hugged each other passionately.
“I thought you don’t love me anymore,” she said and cleaned her left eye with the back of her hand.
“Aww! no dearest, you’re mine and I am yours forever” I replied as we started snogging.
We partied and celebrated all night.

At dawn, she woke up earlier and started cooking. I watched her closely as she was frying the plantain for breakfast.
The aroma of the stew she was cooking was tempting and I couldn’t wait to eat it.
“Rita is really beautiful, I can’t wait to make her mine forever,” I said in my mind.
She was chubby and her curvy was desirable
“Baby, wake up” she said when she finished cooking.
I held my breath and Ignored her. “Wakie wakie, wake up baby” she uttered and didn’t get my response.
“Jesus” she shouted ” Mezuo wake up,” she said shaking my body.
She placed her ear on my heart and discovered that I wasn’t breathing.
On the spur of the moment, she started crying bitterly, shedding tears as though she was heartbroken.
I hugged her from the back and she turned and pushed me away.
She sat on the stool with his face buried in his hands and she was breathing heavily.
“My love, I am sorry; I can’t believe you cried” I apologized and kssed her on her forehead.
Forthwith, she looked at me as though she was disappointed and she hugged me tightly.
I felt her tears dribbling down my back from his eyes.
