EPISODE 6
I sobbed like a limpkin, the crying bird when the police officer told me that it was late to inform the CSP that I was innocent of the accusation.
Odenigbo and co snickered at me as I was wailing.
“How can I d íe for what I am innocent of?” I screamed and my voice echoed in the dungeon.
“Hey! you’re disturbing us,” Ude said with smiles filled on his face.
The policeman immediately bash Ude and me with the whlp and I didn’t stop grumbling with hot tears running down my countenance.
“If I hear any noise here again; you all will be chained on the mouth,” the policeman said with fury.
Then he asked Ude “are you sure you’re the one that klled Tony?”
“Yes, I’m the one and I don’t regret my actions” he returned.
the policeman then nodded as though it was a positive response and left afterwards.
“You would have said, no” Odenigbo said. “I want this man to d íe with us, he might be freed”.
“He is sackless and I want them to kll an untainted soul” Ude replied.
I turned deaf ears at what they were saying and started praying for God to vindicate me.
“If I d íe, God pay my wife Nkechi according to what she did,” I said in a low tone ” she must reap what she sowed “.
Tears were still dripping as I was praying. The malefactors were laughing at me calling me several names as I was beseeching thee.
“You’re praying, we that have been praying for the past four months but God haven’t listened us: is it you that he will vindicate? ” Odenigbo said and they burst into laughter.
My heart raced but I had faith that God will answer my prayers.
It was already 6:30 pm and the lights were turned on. Night food was served with many officers circling us with their arms and whlps.
Our minds weren’t at peace as we were feared by how they pointed their gvns at us. They could bIow our heads in a blink of an eye.
After we finished eating, our wrists and legs were shackled.
“This is the last food you all will eat in this world” A tall, lanky police officer said.
Our visage changed instantly and we were all sad on the face and in our hearts.
“It’s quite unfortunate that my beloved wife whom I trusted so much did this to me,” I said in my mind.
“When I had money, we were living happily but when I lost my job, she became our breadwinner and resented me. Then, she had the mind to plot all these” I kept thinking deeply on how it all started.
My mind kept shaking having thought of how I would be hanged by hangmen the next day. I didn’t want the day to end.

The next day, in the morning, a police officer came to the underground prison and took me away. Ude and co thought I was the first person that will be hung not knowing I was going to see the CSP.
Getting to the CSP’s office, I saw the managing director who tried to sé..duce me the other day.
She was pained when she saw me. She ran to me and hugged me tightly.
Then, she gave the CSP a huge amount of money which they had agreed on and I was bailed.
Mrs Rita was her name and she took me to the hospital instantly to be treated.
