CHAPTER 32
While Zane was driving back home, he thought hard about what Kai had said earlier and scoffed
“Falling?, For who exactly?, That little thing”
*Then why’d you help her?* His subconscious asked
“Well she deserves justice too” he replied
*What made you think so?*
“I’m human, I also have a heart”
*You also to..rtured her friends because she said so*
“She does deserve some justice wait why am I even talking to myself about that little thing, I’m just helping her, I don’t like her and that’s it”
“I only helped her out of self pity” Zane said as he pulled up the driveway
He got down from the car and walked towards the door but he stopped when he saw Annalise standing in front of the door in her light nightie
“What are you doing here?” He asked
“Waiting for you” Annalise replied and he scoffed
“Can’t you see the weather is cold and look..” he raised her arm “you have goosebumps already”
“Ohh” she said
“Let’s go in, why were you even outside?” He shook his head as they went in
“I wanted to make sure you’re back so we’ll watch a movie together” Annalise replied
“Good evening sir” the butler greeted
“Why’d you let her stay outside when you know fully well it’s cold tonight” Zane snapped and the butler bowed his head
“I’m sorry sir, I didn’t know when she went out”
“Such incompetence” Zane muttered
They sat on a couch in the sitting room
“The lights Mr butler” Annalise said and the butler switched off the lights
“Why are you switching off the lights?” Zane asked
“We’re watching a horror movie” Annalise said smiling
“What!!??” Zane asked with wide eyes..

“Oh no” the butler facepalmed himself
“Miss Ford sure knows how to surprise someone” he said, Zane laughed awkwardly facing Annalise
“Well you didn’t tell me it was a horror…”
“I knew you would love it, I wanted it to be a surprise”
“But…” Zane wanted to say more but Annalise placed a finger on his lips
“Shhh it’s starting” Annalise said happily
Zane shut up and stared at the TV quietly but he was restless, he fidgeted on the chair but Annalise was paying more attention to the screen with popcorn on her hand to notice Zane’s restlessness
Suddenly the TV went blank and silence enveloped the sitting room, Zane knew what was coming next he swallowed, but before he could be mentally prepared
Boom!!, The disfigured face of a ghost came in the screen
“Ahhhhh!!” Zane screamed holding Annalise
Annalise slowly turned to him and faced the tv again trying to hold her laughter, so it actually worked….

Annalise went straight to the garden where the butler was watering the plants, she stood beside him with her arms folded
“Good afternoon Miss Ford” the butler greeted but Annalise shook her head
“Is there anything you’d like me to do?” He asked and she nodded
“Say, there’s something I’d like you to tell me” she said as he sighed
“What is it?” He asked
“What kind of movies does Zane dislike?”
“Why…” The butler wanted to refuse
“I’m his wife you should at least respect that fact Mr Smith” Annalise snapped and the butler flinched despite himself
He cleared his throat, the killer glare Annalise was giving him now felt suffocating
“He dislikes horror movies ma’am” he replied and Annalise immediately smiled
“Thank you” she jogged back inside and the butler shook his head before continuing what he was doing

“Why didn’t you tell me you hated horror movies” Annalise asked in a calm tone
“I tried to tell you but you were too excited” Zane replied
“You’re too close you know that right?, I can’t breath” Annalise coughed
“You’re the cause, I’m starting to think you did it on purpose” Zane said
They are currently in their room and Zane was clinging onto Annalise like his life depended on her
“But still that doesn’t mean you have to kill me” Annalise hit his hand that was around her neck
“Sorry” he said but he didn’t let her go, instead he grabbed her by the waist and drew her closer
“What are you…”
“Just stay like this if you want to sleep in peace” he said and closed his eyes, his face was at the back of her neck
Annalise took her lips in, her heart was racing insanely fast, this was the first time he had ever been so close, she smiled unknowingly who knew a ho..rror movie could make the ever proud Zane to be weak.

“Be careful and do not try anything stupid, I’ve got my eyes on you Montero” Lex said over the phone
“Yes” Frenchie nodded and he hung up the call
She took beep breaths slowly, she sniffed and turned to go but was surprised to see Gary standing in front of her
“Morning sir” she immediately bowed her heart was pounding against her rib cage, Gary stared at her
“Is there a problem Miss Montero?” Gary asked and she immediately shook her head
“No sir”
“Is everything ready for the trip?”
“Yes sir” she replied
“Then let’s go” he said putting on his shades and she put on hers
He walked ahead and she trailed behind dragging his suitcase, she had no idea why he didn’t let the securities carry it
“That little….” She cursed silently, it was heavy.

“Hey how about lunch?” Layla asked
“How the h’ll did you get my number” came Kai’s cold voice over the phone
“Don’t worry, I have my ways” Layla replied
“Are you okay?”
“Nope you do have to worry about me”
“I’m not worrying, I’m asking in case you’re drunk, I don’t want someone’s car staining because of your blood”
Layla creased her brows as she tried to think of what he meant by that, her eyes widened as she realized
“So you wouldn’t care if u had an accident now, you’re caring for a car instead” she yelled
“You’re drunk” Kai muttered
“That’s right” Layla laughed loudly
“That explains how you asked for lunch when it’s past dinner time” Kai said and Layla nodded drunkenly
“Annalise is still with her proud husband, my good pal Gary is on a trip and you’re the only person I could think of, like you’re the only choice I have left”
“Why did you call exactly?” Kai pinched the bridge of his nose
“I’m drunk so I can’t drive so I want you to drive me home”
“Is that pleading or ordering?”
