CHAPTER 50

Layla changed back into her clothes, she took her purse and waved Gina and the other workers goodbye

She walked outside to the roadside when she heard a car horn beside her, she turned towards the car, it’s headlights flashed at her twice

She knew the driver was calling on her, she wanted to move but stopped thinking carefully

“What if it’s a pervert?” She asked herself

“But what if it’s Gary, he did say he might pick me up” with that in mind she walked to the car

The window wines down and Kai’s face came to view, she was stunned

“Kai?”

“Get in” he said

She found herself entering without any questions. He started the car and drove off

“Have you had dinner yet?” He asked breaking the long deafening silence

*Obviously not* she screamed in her head

“No” she replied

“What do you want to eat?” He asked again and she stared at him weirdly

“What had gotten into you?” She asked

“Aren’t you hungry?”

“Since when did you care?” She asked back

“Do you or do you not want dinner?”

“I do” she but her lips and Kai shook his head

She just wanted to argue unnecessarily, so childish. They got to a fancy restaurant and Layla creased her brows

“We’re here for dinner only?” Layla asked

“You got any problem with it?”

“Isn’t it too fancy?”

“The fancier the restaurant the more delicious and healthy the food” Kai said and Layla nodded

They got to a table and sat before taking their orders, the waitress came with their food and Layla immediately dug in

“Take it easy”

“Not when it comes to food, and you’re right the food really is delicious” Layla said within mouthful

“It’s a bad habit to talk with your mouth full” he said grabbing a napkin, he leaned and wiped the side of her lips with it

She stopped chewing and stared at him, her body froze when he dabbed the side of she lips with the napkin, he was close too close and she felt uncomfortable

“T… Thank you” she mumbled while he sat back down.

“Got your message, it’s not as much as I had expected Montero” Lex said over the phone

“I’m sorry sir, but I’m getting closer”

“You fking keep saying that, for f*cks sake Frenchie you’re wasting too much time!!” Lex thundered

“I’m sorry sir, I’m friends with the CEO’s wife and his friend” she stuttered

“That’s not enough, that’s not fking enough!!”

Frenchie didn’t say anything

“I’m giving you two weeks, just two weeks Montero if the job isn’t done by then I can’t promise what will happen to that pathetic ass of yours” he said and hung up the call.
