Now I took a good look at him!
Oh my God….how on earth didn’t I first recognize Danny Brooke?
Maybe because he’s a new student who just registered but he’s all over the school now.
Ma’am sat up. “That’s enough,Danny. She’s the maid I brought.”
Daniel glared at me and squeezed his face before stomping off.
Chloe walked after him without sparing me a glance.
Ma’am smiled at me. “I will make job easy for you here by employing an assistance. I doubt you can clean the house all alone. You can call me ma’am Anna.”
I nodded and smiled. She seem to be a nice lady.
Anyways,that day,I started working.

?Ryan?
I zipped up my last bag just as mom came into the room. I turned and stood straight, then blew out a sigh. “Done.”
“Time isn’t on your side anymore Ry. You have to hurry up to catch up with the eight o’clock flight.”
” Yeah. I’m through mom. I’m just gonna miss you. And dad.” I replied smiling.
Mom came nearer and engaged me in a bear hug. “I will miss you too son. Make sure you don’t turn bad over there.” Mom said and I laughed.
” Of course not mom. You might ask Aunt June about it once I start living with her.” Mom and I laughed.
Mom smoothed her hand over my hair and smiled again. “Why don’t you just stay here with me,Ry? I’m gonna miss you. You are the only one I’ve got you know?”
” Come on mom. Pamela is here and she’s very much available.
You Know I have to go down to Manhattan and stay with your sister….she’s sick and she’s got only little Ella with her.” I explained.
Mom was persistent. ” But you are thinking of schooling there, aren’t you?”
” Changing environment is great. Mom, don’t worry.
I will be here from time to time to check on you guys.” I promised and hugged her again.
Mom drove me to the airport.
The announcer was already announcing departure so I quickly bared mom goodbye and followed in the line after having my suitcases checked.
Minutes later, I was seated in the plane, staring down at the vast lands.
I had a smile on my face. Finally, I have a reason to get away from mom.
My Aunt is sick and she needs a helping hand.
I saw it as an opportunity to get away from mom.
She’s just like a prison to me. Always overprotective,always around me and keeping me away from people.
I wasn’t allowed to make much friends so that made me a lone wolf.
If I were someone who could be influenced,I would have turn out to be a real bad boy.
My name is Ryan Dela Rosa and I’m in my last year in high school.
I’m sorry I don’t talk about how I look. I prefer someone else telling that piece.
When the plane finally became airborne,I sighed with relieve and closed my eyes then drifted into an happy sleep.
*****Hours later*****? Manhattan ?
I stood at a park with my phone in my hand, looking around.
I just finished making a call to aunt June and announce my arrival.
I quickly developed a special liking for Manhattan immediately.
It had this familiar air that I could not explain.
I checked my wrist watch. The time was already seven.
I was pulling out another cardigan from my carry all canvas when a car pulled in front of me.
“Hello dude. Your Ryan?” The driver asked me after winding down the glass.
I nodded and he waved me in. “Come on in. Ma’am June has sent me.” He said and I pulled my luggage along.
The driver got out of the car and helped me put my things inside the car trunk.
As it drove in high speed through the free road,I looked out the window with a smile.
Wow …. Manhattan,here I come.

The drive to Aunt June’s house was a little longer than I expected but finally we got there.
Aunt June’s house is big and beautiful. And I couldn’t wait to get in and settle down.
I might be a good kid but sometimes I get edgy and impatient,and really mad whenever tampered with.
Aunt June was inside a room when I got into the house. She’s really sick that she couldn’t show her enthusiasm of seeing me.
“Aunt June!” I ran over and hugged her. She weakly hugged me back with a smile.
“Good to see you Ry. How was your journey?” Aunt June asked.
I shrugged. ” It went well. How are you doing and where is Ella?” I asked with concern.
” I’m getting better sweetheart and Ella is sleeping in her room. Go see her when she’s up.” Aunt June smiled.
” How is my sister? She must have been really sad to see you go.” Aunt June laughed softly.
I laughed too. ” She’s got people around her aunt. I’m here to stay till I’m through with high school.” I said.
” High school? Wow,I had love that. Ella will love to have a brother around too.” Aunt June said.
I smiled. ” So,tell me. What type of schools has Manhattan got?” I asked keenly.
” Well great schools indeed but there will always be the best among bests.” Aunt June stated.
” Wow! Tell me about it. You know I gat to use the best.” I said and we laughed.
” Well….. there’s the great Bright Stars high!!” Aunt June whispered.
I was silent for a while. “Bright stars high school?” Hmm. Sounds nice.
? Darla. ?
The door opened and my daughter bounced in happily. I was cooking in the kitchen when she came in.
Alex hugged me from the back. “Mom!!” She sang happily and pecked me.
“You look so happy. How is your new work going?” I asked wiping my hand on a dry towel.
” Great mom. I have an assistance too now and it makes things more easy.
And I believe the pay is gonna be great.
The only headache right now is the nasty kids in that house. Ugh! But they can’t make me quit my job.” Alex said in a breath and I laughed.
” One of these days….I’m gonna come over to check up on you. So tell me,where exactly is this house?” I asked.
Alex smiled and shrugged. ” Well, Brooke estate. At Mrs Anna Brooke’s house.” She replied.
I almost gasped. Brooke what? No,I’m.not it’s not what I’m thinking.
Swallowing hard,I glared at Alex.
“What’s your employer’s name?” I asked.
“She’s a woman. Mrs Anna Brooke and there is her husband, Chairman Martin Brooke….”
The plate in my hand fell off and broke into pieces. I couldn’t believe it!
” Mom! What’s wrong?” Alex yelled.
I began to shake my head. ” Oh no Alex! You must not go back there!” I shouted.
Alex was bewildered. “What is happening!” She cried.
But I couldn’t say a word. How on Earth am I gonna explain to her that she’s been working in her own father’s house as a maid all these while?
The father I told her died a long time ago!!
