Chapter 30
“The princess life is at stake” Olivia said and Rita gasped
“How? I don’t understand”
“Zaki,he wants to kill her”
“That evil man…What do we do?” Rita asked
“I want you to warn the princess not to go to the middle of the battle cause that’s where Zaki wants to kill her. Tell her to fight alongside prince Derrick instead” Olivia said
“Okay I’ll try my best and tell her”
“Please do so. I have to go now before someone sees me”
“Okay” Rita said and Olivia left
Rita entered the palace and saw the princess with someone who looked oddly familiar. She gave the maids the groceries she bought and went to meet them.
“Good evening my princess” She curtsied
“Good evening Rita. Where have you been?” Princess Helen asked
“I went to the grocery store my princess” Rita said
“Good evening sir” She greeted Jaden
“Rita,meet prince Derrick” Helen pointed at Jaden
Rita gasped and went on her knees
“Your highness,I’m really sorry. I was not aware”
“Please stand up. It’s not a problem” Jaden said and she stood up
“Thank you. My princess,I would like to tell you something very important” Rita said
“Okay. I’m all ears”
“In private please” Rita said
“Whatever you want to say,say it here okay? It’s fine” Helen said and she nodded
“I want to warn you about the war”
Helen sat up
“What about it?” She asked
“My princess,you’re aware that on the battlefield,the middle is always the place the battle is the hottest and that’s where you normally fight” Rita said
“Yes?” Helen answered unsure of what Rita is driving at
“Please my princess,don’t fight at the middle this time”
“Why?” Jaden asked
“There has been an arranged plan to end your life at the middle. You may not see it coming” Rita said
“Who would have done such?” Helen asked
“I don’t know but I think it’s better you fight alongside Prince Derrick. It will be safer that way” Rita said
“Give me some time to digest all these”Helen held her head
“How and where did you get all these information?” Jaden asked
“I overheard a group of men talking about it at the grocery store. I think they’re from the neighboring kingdom” Rita lied
If she mentioned Olivia’s name,the princess might not believe her
“This is serious” Jaden said
“Okay you may go. Thanks for informing me” Helen smiled
“Thank you my princess,my prince” She curtsied and left
“Don’t worry my princess,I’ll be there with you okay?” Jaden said and she rested her head on his chest
“I don’t comprehend why someone will want to hurt me” Helen said
“Look at it. You’re beautiful,cute,caring,loving and the most powerful princess ever known. People envy you. That’s why they are after your life” Jaden said
“I guess so” Helen sighed
That night,she told the king all Rita said and preventive measures and strategies were taken.

THE NEXT DAY…
STAR CROWN HIGH SCHOOL
AT NOON
Elena was in the room putting on her princess dress. Today was the anniversary of her brother’s death. She had prepared some flowers to take to the cemetery and Jaden would be accompanying her there.
“Take heart my princess. I’m sure Prince Diego is proud of you wherever he is” Kira said
“I hope so cause I feel like I’m doing nothing at all” Elena said
“You’ve done a lot. You’re going to be a great queen”
She smiled
“Are we ready?” Helen asked
“Yes my princess” Kira smiled back
They stepped out of the room and saw Rachel
“Good afternoon my princess” Rachel curtsied
“How are you doing my lady?” Helen asked and she laughed
“I am fine. Thank you my princess”
“I should be thanking you and your father for all he has been doing in this school. I have seen a lot of changes”
“It’s a pleasure my princess”
“I’ll see you later” Helen said
“Okay your highness” Rachel curtsied again before the princess left
They met Jaden and Stanley waiting for them at the gate.
“You look beautiful” Jaden complimented her
“Thanks” She smiled
“Don’t mind them Kira,you look better” Stanley blew her a kiss
Kira bent her head and blushed while Elena laughed

MITCHELL’S PARENTS HOUSE
Valerie sat on the couch watching a movie when Mitchell came to her asking for the TV remote
“Where is the TV remote Valerie?” Mitchell asked
Valerie acted deaf
“I repeat where is the TV remote?”
Still no answer
Mitchell came and blocked her view of the TV
Valerie looked up and glared at her
“Now that I have your attention,where is the TV remote?” Mitchell asked
“What are you using it for? Can’t you see I’m watching a movie?” Valerie asked her back
“Why are you answering my question with another question?”
“Why won’t you let me be?”
“Valerie,I am your elder sister. Show some respect. I know you don’t like me but the least you can do for me is respecting me”
Valerie chuckled
“Respecting you? I have always respected you elder sister…it’s just that you do not want to be respected” Valerie made her point
“Are you for real?” Mitchell was shocked
“Do I look like I’m joking? Ever since you came back,it has been from one quarrel to another. You don’t talk to me like sisters do. You don’t hang out with me. We never bonded Mitchell” Valerie was hurt
Mitchell stepped back and sat beside her
“I hurt you right?” Mitchell asked
Valerie nodded as she let the tears flow
“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault Valerie. All my life,I’ve only strived for what will make me happy oblivious of the fact that I’m hurting the ones that care about me. I’m sorry for everything” Mitchell apologized sincerely
She had never seen Valerie cried until now. Valerie was a strong girl who doesn’t reveal her feelings easily. Even when she’s hurting,she hides it behind a smile
“You really mean it?” Valerie sniffed
“I mean it. A lot” Mitchell smiled and Valerie hugged her
“Thank you” Valerie said and a tear dropped down from Mitchell’s cheek
“My pleasure sister” Mitchell patted her back.

THE CEMETERY
They walked round the huge cemetery. It was easy to find Prince Diego’s grave cause royals were buried in a separate place.
They finally made it to his tomb. His name was beautifully inscribed on a stone. Helen dropped some flowers and bent down.
“He was such a lovely guy. Always kept me on my toes. It’s unfortunate he had to die like this” Helen said as tears dropped from her eyes
“He loves you and he still do” Kira held her shoulder
“He will be very proud of you Helen” Jaden said
“Cheer up dearie” Stanley said
“Thanks guys” Helen smiled
“I’ll make you proud Diego. Look at how I’ve grown,I’ll make sure I handle your birthright carefully. Rest in peace my sweetheart” Helen blew a kiss
Before they could utter another word,a group of men came out of the bushes there and started attacking them.
Helen and Jaden were fast enough to take two down. They were all rushing towards Helen. Jaden was by her side all through while Kira and Stanley took out the rest.
“What do they want?” Helen asked
“I think they’re after you” Jaden said
Thank goodness he was with his sword

When the men saw that they were no match against these four people,they started escaping but Helen caught one of them and pinned him down.
“Who sent you here?” Helen asked
“Over my dead body will I tell you” The man said
Helen collected Jaden’s sword and pierced a hole in his hand
The man winced in pain
“I ask again. Who sent you?”
The man was still adamant
“I’ll give you a last chance. I’m going to count from 1 to 5,if you don’t spill the beans,I’ll make sure I detach your head from your body”
The man thought she was issuing empty threats and remained num
“One…Two…Three…Four…” She raised the sword
“Please don’t kill me. I’ll talk,I’ll talk please” The man pleaded
“Now talk. Who sent you?”
“It’s…It’s” The man stuttered
“Speak!” Helen yelled at him
“It’s Master Zaki” The man said and they all gasped
Helen gasped as the sword dropped from her hand
