Chapter Thirty Two
GRACE POV
We got to the living room and then I saw Dylan sitting on one of the chairs with a drink on his hands. His eyes were on the TV screen which was displaying a Chinese movie.
“Here she is, Dylan”.I noticed a little hesitation in Mrs Skylar’s voice as she said the word ‘Dylan’ but I shrug it off.
“You can leave”.This time his voice was cold and rough, he does not seem anywhere near happy. That made me pinch my fingers nervously.
Oh, please don’t tell me he is back to his old self.
Mrs Skylar bowed and left, leaving just the both of us in the living room. I remained standing, watching him.
If it was yesterday, I would have tried to start a conversation but today just seem different.
Then, he stood and without saying a word he began walking away.
I wondered if I was to follow him or not but after few seconds of thinking hard, I finally trail behind him.
He stopped at a door which I recognized to be that of the study room and before a second could pass, he pulled the doorknob and the door cracked open.
He stepped in while I did same. He walked to a seat and sat but then his eyes ran into mine. Oh Jeez! His stare was freaking me out!
His eyes were now so dark, it look dim and scary. I’d wonder what made him look this way, yesterday he was all lively and cheerful but today, he look angry and not in the mood for any form of discussion.
“You know, standing won’t do you any good and don’t think I care if you stand or not, I just don’t want you to go cry to your mummy after getting a sore feet”.
Ouch! That was harsh!
I felt pained at what he said but I let it slide before sitting on a seat.
I thought of what to do to keep myself busy since Dylan has return back to his boring old self and luckily, I remembered the experiment on Diffusion. I needed to check it out.
I brought out the beaker from where it was kept and lo, the crystal of potassium tetraoxomanganate have almost spread through the whole of the beaker.
I smiled a bit and kept it back in place. Thanks fully, it will spread through the whole of the beaker on Sunday. Well, thanks fully…
Not having anything to do, I took my phone on my palm before playing a game. I played and played and played until I felt tired of playing.
Then I glanced at the time in my phone and it was 2:04pm. Geez! I need to go home, am done checking out the work on Diffusion and besides Dylan don’t seem like he would like to keep me company.
Sighing, I clicked on the phone app in my phone before dialing Mr Liam’s phone number. He picked it up at first ring.
“Grace, you want me to come pick you up?”.
“Y..yeah”.I replied with a little hesitation. A part of me wanted to stay here a little longer..
“But why? I always pick you up at 4pm”.
“Nothing Mr Liam, just come pick me up, okay?”.
“Okay, expect me there at 2:30pm”.With that said, he hung up.
I stood and glanced at Dylan while taking few steps out of the room. I expected him to call me back and ask if I was leaving like he did the other day but this time, he didn’t do such.
Sighing, I turned back to him and let put the words I had wanted to say, I didn’t even know why I want to tell but I just feel like it will be bad not to let him know.
“Tomorrow is my birthday, Dylan”.
He didn’t say a word, he only scoffed and feeling very sad, I went out of the room.

DAVE POV
“Vanessa!”.I smiled happily as her face popped up on the screen of my phone.
I called her through video call and she just answered.
“Dave!”.She smiled and geez, I felt a stinging feeling in my chest.
“Wow Van, look at you…”.I said but cut myself off at the last part. I wanted to add ‘looking beautiful as always’ but I suddenly felt shy.
“No Dave, just take a look at yourself…you have grown fat”.She said laughing and my smile faded.
“Wait…what?!”
“Geez! Am just joking”.She chuckled and I smiled.
“So Dave, you finally called me, huh? After five says of giving you my number”.She frowned but I knew it was fake. The Vanessa I know hardly frown.
“Am so sorry, have been searching for your contact. Though I saw this contact stored as VaDa with a love emotion between a and D but I never knew it was your contact”.
“Gosh! You are so dumb”.She laughed. “VaDa is actually a nickname I formed. Va means Vanessa and Da means Dave. You could have guess you know?”
“Am sorry”.
“No, don’t apologize, it was my fault anyway. Next time when giving you any of my phone digits, I will stored it as D-Van. Gish! I bet you wouldn’t still understand”.She shook her head with a huge beam on her lips. I smiled too.
“But you could change it to a name you would understand. Just change the VaDa to Vanessa, that would be better”.
“No, I would leave it like that. I do love the name, VaDa”.
“Oh!”.She mouthed, running her fingers through her long brown hair. “Do you miss school?”
“Tsk! Who do I even talk to in school? Just you and my sis, so if I was to miss school then it’s only you I would miss”.
I said and she blushed, suddenly looking shy.
“Oh Dave”.She huffed, pushing back a string of hair on her face. “You just reminded me of someone, your sister Grace, how is she?”.
“As fine as always but she was paired with a guy in her class for a project given to her class by their biology teacher. Van, you wouldn’t believe who that guy is”.
“Who is the guy?”.She looked curious.
“Guess”.
“Gish! Just go straight to the point”.
“Fine. The guy is… Dylan”
“Jeez! What? Are you serious right now?”
“Of course I am”.
“Gosh! That’s horrible”.
“I don’t think so cause she left to his house today with a smile on her face”.
“You got to be kidding me”.
“Am not”.
“Well, that means they are getting along”.
“You think so?”.
“Hmm…yeah”.
“But I don’t trust that Dylan guy”.
“Seriously?”.
“Yeah, he look dangerous and…”.
A voice from her home cut me off, it was a female’s voice, her mum probably.
“Am so sorry Dave but I have to disconnect this call. My mum is calling me”.She said ruefully.
“Oh okay but I will call you later”.
“Yeah, bye”.She said and hung up.
Smiling, I pressed my phone to my chest as I felt happy hearing her voice.

Authoress Prosper POV
(2 hours before Grace’s arrival)
Dylan was in his room standing with his eyes closed, he was in deep thought. His lips were forming a smirk as he crossed his hands behind his back.
Suddenly, his phone rang but he didn’t pick it up. When it rang for the sixth time, he finally decided to pick it up.
“Master”.The caller was panting, it was obvious with the way he talked. “I just received bad news”.
The caller paused, trying to catch his breath.
“Duncan is no longer in Ozlum, he escaped without any trace”.
As soon as Dylan heard that, his eyes turned bloodshot and his face reddened in anger.
