Chapter Thirty Eight
GRACE POV
The car halted when we got to the house and after Mr Lucas blew the horn, Mr Liam, the gatekeeper opened the gate.
The car drove right into the compound and I stepped out before going into the house.
I got to the living room and saw Mum watching TV. She was sipping a cup of milk while her hand was busy caressing her protruding stomach.
“Mum?”.I called and she stared at me.
“Grace!”.She exclaimed, walking to me. Her hands wrapped around my neck and I wrap my hands around hers too.
“Jeez! I was so worried when you didn’t return home. You can’t even imagine how I felt”.She said and slowly removed her hands from my neck.
“You didn’t even take your inhaler when leaving the house, what if your attack came? What if something bad happened to you?”.
“Am perfectly fine mum and nothing bad can ever happen to me. So please, don’t worry about me, okay?”.I smiled and she nodded with a sigh.
“Okay!”.
“So, where is dad?”.I asked, my eyes were roaming around the living room.
“He left to the office. He was waiting for you but when he realized he was getting late, he had to leave”.
“Oh!”.I muttered with a nod. “Mum, I have to leave to my room to prepare for school”.
“School?”.
“Yes school, you don’t want me to go to school today?”.
“Not really. I mean you just came back home and you must be pretty tired”.
“Mum, as I said, am perfectly okay. Nothing to worry about”.I said and pecked her on the cheek before going to my room.
I pulled off the pretty blue dress I had on me before going to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and later took my bath before wearing a yellow top and jeans short, then I fixed my curly brown hair in a loose bun.
I wore my shoes and grabbed my phone and my backpack before exiting my room.
Mum was no where to be found in the living room and I guessed she must be in the dining room dining with Dave, Mr Liam and Nancy.
My guess was confirmed to be true when I saw Mum, Dave, Mr Liam and Nancy eating breakfast. Dave was already dressed in a different clothing..
I joined them and was the last to finish up my food before going to join Dave in the car.

The ride to school was enjoyable cause Mr Lucas kept talking to us, trying to make us laugh with his jokes which didn’t sound funny but at least, he kept the silent at bay.
We finally got to school and I went out of the car with a sigh. I’d realize that I missed school and wait…Kyree! I haven’t seen nor talked to him for a week, I wonder how he is faring.
“Grace”.Dave called, walking towards me. “You are gonna join I and Vanessa at the cafeteria today, will you?”.
I put on a disapproving look cause the Kyree I know will pester me to join him eat in the cafeteria but still, I remember I haven’t been joining Dave eat in the cafeteria which was kinda unfair. Oh, who should I eat with – Dave or Kyree?
“Um, maybe yes. I might”.I said and walked ahead of him to avoid any more of his questions.
I got to class and walked to Jeanann’s seat. She wasn’t on her seat but I could see a book on the desk with her name on it.
Oh, she must had dropped her backpack in her locker since it was nowhere to be found but that reminds me…. I haven’t taken my locker key from the principal. How can I forget that?!
I scoffed and place my backpack on my thighs before bringing out the timetable.
I realized we were having biology as the 2nd period and I sighed, looking at Dylan’s seat to see if he brought the project works to school but I saw none on his seat.
Oh dmn! How can I forget to bring it along with me when leaving Dylan’s house? Geez! I just hope he came along with it, well that’s if he came to school.
I brought out my physics notebook since we were having it as our first period on the timetable before keeping it on the desk, just when I was about bringing out my pen, I saw Jeanann walking into the class. Actually, she was cat walking..
She was dressed in a pink V neck top and jeans bum short. Her hair was packed in a messy bun and the makeup on her face was Wow. She looked really beautiful..
“Hi Jean”.I said to her as soon as she got close to her seat and the moment her eyes met mine, her smile vanished.
“Hi”.Her voice was cold and not really friendly. I wonder what was wrong with her.
“Jean, is anything wrong?”.I asked, trying to be nice but what she said next did shocked me.
“You should learn how to mind your business, stop poke nosing into my personal affairs. What is wrong with you anyways? You never really do mind your business!”.She snorted, frowning at me and I scoffed feeling insulted.
“Hey, I was only being nice”.My voice was kinda high.
“Well, I don’t need your nice gestures. I only want you to stop trying to steal what’s mine, you have done enough damage already but guess what, have fixed everything and I wouldn’t allow you to damage anything more for me”.
I was confused as to what she was saying but however, her words were getting me angry.
“Jean”.I breathe out, trying to keep my voice low and soft. “I don’t understand what you are saying but I just want you to know that I never did cause any damage”.
She frowned deeply while eyeing me scornfully.
“Just listen Grace, I don’t want to exchange words with you. All I want you to do for me is to stop trying to stealing what will never belong to you or else you wouldn’t like what will happen to you afterwards”.She hissed and went off to join her friends who were signaling her to come to them.
I took in a deep breath, trying to digest whatever she said but the more I kept trying to understand her words, the more I keep getting confused.
Oh Gosh! She totally got my head spinning.
Trying to shrug off my thoughts, I rested my head under the desk. My eyes were staring at the floor.
I do this whenever am bored in class. It also helps to while away time.
But then suddenly, the class became silent, no more sounds. This got me curious and confused.
Did a teacher come to class?
I decided to check for myself but was surprised to see a ravishing Dylan walking to his seat with everyone’s eyes on him.
Wow! Who wouldn’t crush on this guy?!
