Chapter Thirty Nine
GRACE POV
Everyone’s eyes followed him as he walked to his seat and when he sat on the seat which was behind mine, I noticed his vein filled hands.
I wasn’t allowed to take more look at his hands cause of someone who walked into the class, clearing her throat.
The class stared at whosoever came in and I turned to stare at the person too, only to see Allison standing in front of the class.
She wore a black Tee shirt and a light purplish mini skirt which exposed some part of her thighs. I’d wonder if any teacher questioned her for dressing indecently..
“Class!”.I noticed her voice was commanding. “Chemistry period have ended and the biology teacher, Mr Kelvin is on a sick leave. He wouldn’t be coming until tomorrow. So please, let’s use this free period to read and study our books. No noise please! And also, try to remember to bring your project works tomorrow, if you forget, then sorry, you will score an F mark on biology”.
She cat walked back to her seat and that was when it clicked. Allison was the class prefect, Wow! That is quite funny..
I chuckled quietly and then brought out a novel from my backpack. I began reading it but stopped halfway when I saw Dylan leaving the class.
Wait… He just came in, so why is he leaving?
I thought to myself but shrugged and continue reading the novel.
The novel now seem boring to me and I sighed, keeping it back in my backpack.
I stared at the classroom door but Dylan was nowhere to be seen, he was gone!
Curiosity got the best part of me and I found myself standing, wanting to go after him but someone held my hand, preventing me from moving further.
“Where do you think you are going to?”.It was Jeanann and she looked curious.
“You should learn how to mind your business, you told me that before. Now, am minding mine, why can’t you mind yours?”.I was looking greatly annoyed.
“Gosh! I don’t even why you are blabbering all this, I was just being curious, okay?”.
“Yeah, curious indeed. When you are saying all those rubbish to me, did you think about why I was asking? Anyways, I don’t wanna exchange words with you, do you wanna know why? Well, it’s because you greatly annoy me now”.I scoffed and she frowned but I cared less as I exited the classroom.
I stared around but Dylan was no where in sight. I gritted my teeth feeling a bit of anger. Have lost him, all because of Jeanann. Geez!
I wanted to go back to the classroom but the thought of sitting with Jeanann made me think otherwise. So, I decided to go to the restroom and spend some time there until this free period is over.
HER ADVERSITY: Chapter 31 – 40
I went over to the female restroom and sigh, staring at my reflection in the mirror and for maybe the sixth or seventh time, I admired myself.
I mean… I was beautiful, really. Not only beautiful but cute too. Oh Jeez! I was happy I was created this way – Fair in complexion, Average in height, not too slim neither was I too fat, I was just perfect.
I continued admiring myself but got distracted when I heard a slight groan from the male restroom. I stood in alert as I suddenly remembered the sound I heard when Dylan fainted in the male restroom.
I heard another groan but this time, it was louder. I wanted to go check but I changed my mind and continued staring at my reflection in the mirror.
I wasn’t even focused! I had this urge to go check what’s happening in the restroom and when I could no longer control the urge, I found my feet moving out of the female restroom to the male’s.
The door was opened revealing somebody who was backing me. The person’s hands were pooping out large green veins as he gripped the walls tightly. The person’s back was familiar and one name rang in my head. Dylan!
What? Dylan?! What is he doing here? I mean…why is he groaning and holding the walls tightly like if the walls hurt him or something.
“Dylan?”.I called, feeling worried and then his eyes ran into mine making me flinch.
His eyes were red, shallow and watery and his face, Oh God, was squeezed in pain. I could also see blood oozing out of his nose and mouth profusely.
“Dylan, what’s happening to you?”.I asked with wide eyes but he ignored me.
Another groan escaped from him and he shut his eyes in pain. He stayed that way for seconds before he began stiffing, releasing his hands from the walls he once gripped.
“Leave!”.He exclaimed and I immediately knew he was talking to me. I mean who else can he talk to? Am the only one here.
“Leave? Am here cause am concerned about you, okay? And I wouldn’t leave until you tell me what’s happening to you”.
He ignored me again, staring at his reflection in the mirror. He looked really pale and sick, his once beautiful skin was now getting thinner and thinner. How come I didn’t notice all this doing the times I was with him?
“Who took me to the school clinic when I fainted?”.His deep voice was now thin and low, he probably didn’t want to talk loudly.
The question however, took me off guard and I bit my lower lip wondering if I should tell him or not but then, it will be wrong to lie to him.
“I…it was me and a friend of mine”.I answered and he shrugged, not looking one bit happy.
“What did the doctor say? Did he tell you about what caused my unconsciousness?”.He asked and I shook my head, wondering about why he asking was all this questions.
“No, the doctor didn’t neither did the nurse but they advised that you should go visit a more specialized and professional doctor after being discharged”.
“That’s good!”.He muttered with a slight sigh as he turned on the faucet before wiping his bloody face with the clean running water.
He cleaned the water off his face with a large handkerchief which was tucked in his pant pocket.
“Leave me alone”.He said, obviously in deep pains but I scoffed, not moving an inch.
“You haven’t answered my question”.I said but he frowned, walking closer to me. He stopped at my front and then he whispered something into my ear.
“You are such a pain in the a.ss, puppy!”.
With that said, he snorted and walked out of the restroom leaving me in shock.
