Chapter 43 (Tara gone missing)

HONEY SALT’S KITCHEN*

Workers had already filled the whole scene and it was getting hot already. Asha squatted as she picked the broken glasses on the floor.

“Am sorry for spilling the drink on you ma’am, it wasn’t intentional.” she said.

“You are sorry?” the woman scoffed. “I never knew the workers in this restaurant could be so clumsy.”

Asha bowed her hair in guilt, this lady doesn’t want to let go of the issue. It was just a drink for crying out loud.

“Am really sorry ma’am. I know I’m not up to your level, please forgive me.” She apologized again.

“Fine I forgive you, get out, your sight irritates me.” the woman said with a crumpled face and adjusted her glass on her face.

Asha picked up the remaining pieces of the glass and walked away. She got to the kitchen and handed it to Lucy.

Lucy took the tray of the broken glasses and placed it on a sink, afterwards she turned to Asha and sighed deeply.

Her expression on her face was different from any Asha had seen. It showed sympathy and sisterly love, which was new to Asha.

“Are you ok?” Lucy asked.

Asha smiled, so it was actually because of the incident that she was behaving like that?Lucy has really changed into a better person and Asha was happy about it.

“Am fine Lucy, after all it’s not the first time, so am fine.” Asha replied nonchalantly as she untied the apron that was wrapped around her. She smiled when she recalled Josh helping her from falling.

“Are you going somewhere?” Lucy asked.

“Yeah, I am going to pick Tara, it’s almost 3pm.”

“Ok,see you later then.” Lucy replied and she hummed before going out.

THE LUCAS’S MANSION*

Mrs Lucas paced around her room as she bit her nails. She just received a message from that anonymous person again.

She had told herself not to worry about it and that it was a prank but it was being so real and she knew it wasn’t a prank.

She was getting too nervous as her breathing wasn’t steady as usual.

After a while she sat on her bed and carried her phone. She dialed Camdan’s number but he wasn’t answering his phone.

“I just hope nothing turns bad, it should be a prank…but who’s using my past to torment me?Who could it be?” she asked herself.

She carried her phone and dialed his number again but he’s still not answering and she wondered why.

She sighed and quickly dashed into the bathroom.

QUIN’S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL*

Immediately Asha alighted from the taxi, she went straight to the teachers office but she couldn’t find Miss Vivian.

“Please where is Miss Vivian?” Asha asked a male teacher who was searching for a file.

He turned to her and looked at her briefly, he was a man in his early fifties with a bald head and a spectacle resting on his nose.

“Vivian left early, she said there was something she needed to take care of, any problem?” He asked and she shook her head sideways.

“Thank you.”

“You are welcome,” he said before walking away.

Immediately he left Asha ran out and searched all the classes but Tara wasn’t anywhere to be found. She was getting so worried, since Vivian wasn’t in school, there was nobody else looking after her.

Since it was a public school, every student has their own teacher who looks after them. So in case of an emergency, the teacher can call the parents.

But now, Vivian wasn’t in school and Tara has gone missing. This was really a huge turn on for Asha. She has begun sweating and her whole body is trembling.

How will she look for Tara? Who will she ask for help from?

She rubbed her temple as she started feeling dizzy. She has been working the entire day and hasn’t eaten anything.

“Oh my God, what am I going to do?” She mumbled.

BANANA FOR KIDS*

Tara emptied the entire plate of ice cream and afterwards licked her lips. She was so cute doing that as her beautiful eyes peered through the ice cream container.

“Does my mommy know that you took me out?” she asked, still staring at the ice cream container.

Josh just kept smiling the whole time, he still couldn’t believe the child in front of him was his. If anyone could tell him that he has a child, he would deny. Tara was such a blessing and she really looked like him.

“Yes I told her and she agreed.” he replied and she returned it with a smile.

He actually stalked Asha and knew the school Tara was attending. He knew that Asha wouldn’t let him go close to his daughter. So after school, he went to pick up Tara. He only told them that they are related and they allowed him. The school didn’t have a strong security and it angered Josh.

“Are you looking for something?” He asked Tara who was still squinting her eyes as she stared at the ice cream container.

She looked up and saw him staring at her, then she immediately averted her gaze back to the container before dropping it on the table.

“No, it’s just that the ice cream is very sweet and it’s finished…so am not sure there’s something I can do right?” She asked instead and Josh laughed.

His child was actually making him laugh a lot today, she could have just asked for another plate of ice cream but here she is being ironic.

“You want one more?” He asked and she nodded her head.

Josh smiled and went straight to the counter. After a while he came back with a bigger container and she gave him a thumbs up.

She wasn’t actually the type to feel free with strangers but since she has met Josh before and her mom knows him too, she thought she could trust him.

After eating so many sweet things and also going to the park, Tara started to feel sleepy. Josh glanced at his wrist watch and sighed, it was 8pm already. The day ran fast and he didn’t notice probably because he spent time with her.

The weather was getting cloudy and windy, it seems it was good to rain heavily tonight. He unconsciously shook his head sideways, having pity for the sailors on sea.

He flung her backpack on his arm and carried her on the shoulder. It felt different and unique. He has never carried a child before but still he felt good. He knew that Asha must have been so worried so, without waiting for another minute, he flagged down a taxi.

Since he was an illegitimate child, he wasn’t popularly known and it was a good thing for him at the moment.

He told the driver his destination and he entered the car still holding Tara carefully like a treasure he doesn’t want to lose. After a few seconds the driver drove off.
