Just The Beginning ?
Episode thirty eight
Vee
” Hey, ” Rita says walking in the bedroom. “I thought you were sleeping. ”
” I tried but I couldn’t catch any sleep,” I say sitting up. ” Nick already left? ”
” Yes, about thirty minutes ago. ”
After the dramatic lunch we had, Rita, Nick and I came back to the house while Alex went back to work. An hour later I excused myself to get some sleep but didn’t manage to get any.
I’ve been laying in bed for almost four hours, thinking about everything that has been happening to me. I still can’t believe that this is my life! I feel like am in a movie or something.
I came here for a new beginning but so far I’ve just made new enemies, who are clearly are very dangerous but am not running anymore. Maya was so right, running away from problems does not solve them, it only creates more.
Am planning on taking whatever is thrown my way and throwing it back with no hesitation.
No more cowering away.
” Are you okay? You are awfully quiet, ” Rita says snapping me out of my thoughts.
“I am. I kind of got lost in my thoughts, ” I say getting off the bed.
I walk to the closet and get some clothes, placing them neatly on the bed. All this time Rita is staring at me.
” Are you planning on going out? ” she asks.
” Yes, I’ve decided to go back to work at the club. All this sitting around with nothing to do, is not doing me any good. ”
” But it’s to early for that! You need to rest more. ”
” I also need money and I wont get it by resting, ” I say grabbing a towel.
” I know you and I know you feel like you are taking advantage of us but you are not. You are family now, I mean ,you are even pregnant for my brother, ” She says giggling while I just shake my head. ” Seriously though, I think you should rest for atleast a week. A lot has happened to you and you need time to take it all in. ”
” I know but being idle is making me think and stress a lot. I need to work and occupy my mind with something before I go crazy! ” I tell her been truthful.
” Okay.. I guess I get you, ” she says sitting on the bed and I can tell she’s not fully convinced. ” I hope you still remember that Lisa is back. I bet she’ll do anything to make your life hell at work. ”
” I know but am not scared of her. ”
” You should. I really don’t trust her but my mind is at ease knowing that Nick will be there with you, ” she says with a sigh. ” By the way, he’s so dreamy, right. ”
” Who? Nick?!
” Yes, I don’t get how that Chloe chick could leave such a guy. He’s super handsome, honest and very charming. He’s the kind of guy who loves for real and there are not many of them left. ”
” I know, but don’t you even think about falling for him, Okay!
” Why not? He’s single and……
” And nothing! Nick is still madly in love with Chloe and I don’t want you getting hurt, ” that’s the only explanation I can come up with right now but atleast it’s legit.
I really want to tell her the truth but I can’t! I think I’ll have to talk to Alex about this before something crazy happens.
“Unfortunately, you are right, ” she says .Chloe is a lucky girl, to bad she doesn’t know it yet. ”
” Yeah….. To bad, ” I say walking towards the bathroom.
“Vee wait, ” Rita says before am in the bathroom. ” Something is wrong with the shower. I was going to get someone to fix it but it slipped my mind. You should use the one in Alex’s room. ”
” I don’t think that’s a good idea, especially now that Alex is almost home from work. Isn’t there any other bathroom?”
” No there isn’t and don’t worry about Alex. He’s already back but is out for a run. He’ll be back in about an hour so you have nothing to worry about. ”
” Okay, ” I say getting rid of my clothes and cover myself with the towel.
My phone rings as am about to walk out and Rita hands it over to me.
Urgh! It’s Lisa! What does she want now?
” What?! ” I ask, the second I answer.
” We need to talk.” She sounds desperate.
“Talk? really! ,” I say walking in Alex’s bathroom. ” I don’t think we have anything to talk about. ”
” I know I’ve not been fair to you lately and I really miss you. ”
” Cut the crap Lisa! I wasn’t born last night, okay? I know you are up-to something and I don’t have time for your silly games right now,” I say hanging up.
The nerve of that girl, Does she think am that stupid?!
I get in the shower, placing the phone next to the towel. I feel relaxed and refreshed the minute the warm water touches my body.
A few minutes in the shower, am done but before am out, Alex walks in a towel around his neck, only in his boxers.
I scream trying to cover myself but he’s just standing there, his eyes wide open and in shock but that doesn’t stop him from checking me out. I want to reach for the towel but it’s kind of far and I’d be exposing myself further if I grab it.
Fk! Feels like Deja Vu.
” What’s wrong with you? Get out! Didn’t you hear the water running?! I scream at him.
” Uumh… Am sorry. I had my head phones on, ” He says with no sign of leaving.
” What are you still doing here? Get out! ”
” Okay, am leaving, ” he says walking out.
Someone please kill me! I can’t believe that just happened?
How am I supposed to to even look at him now that he saw me nked?!
I grab the towel and cover myself, contemplating on whether to walk out or not.
” Wait… Rita can help,” I think grabbing my phone.
” Rita, meet me in the bathroom, right now! ” I say as soon as she picks up.
” Am sorry Vee, but am not into you that way, ” she says with a chuckle.
” Stop messing around and bring me some clothes. ”
” I can’t. I just stepped out for a bit. ”
” Please Rita, stop playing already. ”
” Am serious. ”
Sht!
” Okay,” I say hanging up.
” Okay Vee, get a grip of yourself ” I say to myself sighing deeply.
Why am I so nervous, anyway?!
I walk out ready to run to the door but he’s right in front of it. He’s still shirt less but at least now he’s has sweat pants on. I find myself staring at his well defined muscles, swallowing dryly. I look up at him and catch him staring at me a smile on his lips.
I feel so exposed and self conscious right now and my heart is speeding.
” Like what you see, ” he says with a grin looking at me in a way that makes me tremble.
” Uumh… Could you please excuse me, ” I say. My mouth feels dry. ” Am kind of cold. ”
” I can keep you warm, ” he says his eyes so blue and intense locking on mine and I can’t seem to even form a word right now.
Why the he..ll is he looking at me like that?
I really don’t want to be here anymore. I don’t want him looking at me with those intense eyes.
It’s becoming hard for me to pretend that he doesn’t affect me because he clearly does and sooner or later he’ll see right through me.
He walks towards me slowly his gaze still on me and i freeze. Am unable to move or breathe and there’s something thick in the air that I can almost touch.
My heart beats faster with every step he takes towards me and i feel so hot, like am literally on fire!
” Think Vee! My councious tells me and i walk past him, aiming for the door, but he grabs my waist pulling me to him. His skin is hot and is making me feel strange things. His heart is beating fast.
Could I be affecting him to?
No freaking way! He made it clear that am not his type.
I swear i have never felt this way before with any other guy, why did it have to be Alex?
” What are you doing? Please let go, ” I say staring at his lips which look very kssable right now but, quickly remove my gaze before am caught .
” Am sorry, ” he says letting go. ” I don’t know why I did that . ”
” It’s okay, excuse me, ” I say taking a huge step forward but he stops me.
What now? I really have to go before I give in to temptation and kss the hell out of him!
” I hope you know it wasn’t my intention to walk in on you like that. I didn’t know you were in there. ”
” I know, can I go now?” I ask and he nods biting on his lower lip softly, still giving me that intense look, making my inside boil.
I have to get out of here!
Before I can take another step to the door, it’s unlocked and George walks in. He freezes the second he sees me, confusion clear on his face.
