Just The Beginning ?
Episode fifty five
Vee
I wake up and struggle to open my eyes due to the rays of sunshine in the room. The curtains are still not drawn yet but by the amount of sunlight ,I can tell that it’s pretty late, and my stomach is busy growling.
I’m still kind of sleepy and am contemplating on whether to wake up or not, but when I look at the clock on the stand, my eyes open wide!
It’s almost 1pm!
I’ve never been one to sleep in this late!
And why do I feel so damn exhausted?! I think am about to come down with something.
I sit up slowly, ready to get off the bed but before I can Alex walks in.
” Good morning sleeping beauty ,” he says with a smile walking towards the bed.
” Morning love, ” I say as he hops on the bed and gives me a soft kiss on the lips. ” Why didn’t you wake me up? ”
” You looked tired and I didn’t want to bother you. Come let’s go get something to eat, you must be hungry. ”
Am super hungry, ” I say getting off the bed but feel dizzy the second I stand and slowly sit back on the bed.
” Hey, are you okay? ”
” I don’t know. I feel dizzy, but I guess it’s because I haven’t eaten anything yet. ”
” Are you sure? ” Alex asks and i nod my head. ” Okay, ” he says standing up and lifts me up bridal style. ” Since you can’t walk right now, I’ll be happy to carry you to your destination milady. ”
” Why, thank you kind sir, ” I say smiling up at him. ” To the kitchen, ” I say pointing to the door and he let’s out a small chuckle.
He carries me all the way and places me on a chair once we get to the dinning room. He gets me breakfast and feeds me, making sure I eat every last bit, and I can tell that he’s surprised that am not complaining.Normally, I don’t eat this much but lately, I seem to have this crazy appetite!
” Is there more? ” I ask once my plate is empty and he looks at me surprised.
” You want more?! Are you sure you are okay? I mean, we are always forcing food down your throat but today, you can’t get enough! ”
” I know and believe me, I don’t understand it myself, ” I say as I watch get up and walking to the kitchen, coning back with more.
” Thank you. ”
” Anytime babe, anyway, have you thought about what we talked about last week. ”
” We talked about a lot of stuff Alex, be specific, ” I say stuffing my face with bread.
” About you going back to school. ”
Alex wants me to go back to school and he’s willing to pay for everything but am kind of reluctant about it. I don’t want him to spend so much on me. That will only make me feel like am taking advantage of him and I’ve never been that kind of person.
I know I should be excited and grateful and I am. I mean, I have a chance to finish school and finally get a good job, and give my sister everything she deserves from my hard earned money! but am still not sure.
” I haven’t thought about it yet. ”
” Come on Vee! There’s actually nothing to think about! Stop being such a diva, and let me take care of you, ” he says taking my hand. ” Dont you you want to finish your studies and get to live the life that was stolen from you? ”
” There’s nothing I want more,but I don’t want to be a bother.You are already doing more than enough for me and my sister, and you have a baby on the way, who you’ll have to support financially. ”
” Really? ” he says creasing his brows. ” That is the lamest excuse ever! You know i have more than enough money to take care of a thousand babies! It’s not fair that you don’t want me to take care of you. It makes me feel like you haven’t accepted me fully and that kind of huets. You are going to be mine for the rest of my life, and everything that belongs to me is yours and completely at your disposal, and so am I. Do you see a future with me, Vee? ”
” Of course I do. ”
” Then it’s decided! You are going back to school first thing next year .”
” Okay, ” I say with a smile, leaning over to him and kss him. ” I love you. ”
” I love you too Vee, ” Rita says startling us and takes a seat next to me.
” That was supposed to be my line, ” Alex complains with a frown and I can’t help but smile.
” Well… I guess I beat you to it, bro, ” Rita says stealing a sausage from my plate. ” Anyway, have you guys seen Maya? I’ve been in her room and she’s not there.”
” We haven’t, maybe she’s in the bathroom or something, ” I say sipping on some coffee.
” Nope,i checked. I’ve actually looked in almost every corner of the house and she’s nowhere, ” Rita say and I suddenly feel uneasy.
” Am sure she’s fine, ” Alex says noticing my uneasiness. ” The house is huge, she must be somewhere around. ”
” You are right, ” Rita says. “Did you guys know that Lisa went over to mums house and begged her to talk to you so she’d convince you to let her stay with us. She claimed that it’s for the safety of the baby but we all know that’s a big lie.”
” Wait.. What? I ask.
” It’s true. Mum called and told me a few minutes ago. That crazy girl is doing everything she can to get in this house. ”
” Yeah.. And I know her well enough to know that she wont stop until she gets what she wants, ” I say.
” She’ll have to quit at some point,because I won’t let her win. I just hope mum is not going to play her game. ”
” No, mum has really changed,” Rita says all smiles. ” Can you believe that despite hating Lisa, she actually invited her to live in her house?! ”
” Really?! And, what did Lisa say, ” I ask curiously.
” Of course she said yes! And I don’t like it at all. Am sure she’ll devise a new plan soon. ”
” I’ll talk to mum about that, there’s no way I’ll let Lisa stay with her. ”
” I don’t think you should interfere. This is good for your mum, she’ll get the chance to take care of the baby before its even born, and I think that’s why she asked Lisa to move in with her. ”
” Vee is right, mum would never do anything without thinking it through first. ”
” Okay… But we still have to keep a close eye on Lisa, I don’t trust her at all. ”
“Sure, you can count on that, ” Rita says getting up. ” I’ll go check If Maya is back to her room. ”
” Okay, tell us as soon as you find her,” Alex says.
” Sure, ” she says walking away.
” I’ll go take a shower, maybe that will relax me since I still feel kind of tired. ”
” Can I join you? ” Alex asks with a wink.
” You think I’d say no to that? ” I say with a smirk as he takes my hand, and leads me towards the stairs, but before we take our first step up, Rita calls out my name, as she practically flies down the stairs.
” What’s wrong? ” I ask.
” Maya just texted that she went out and that we shouldn’t worry about her. ”
” What? Where did she go? Is she alone? ” Alex asks.
” I don’t know where she is! And what really scares me, is that she all alone, she didn’t take any of the bodyguards with her.”
” That girl is crazy! How was she even able to sneak out like that?! she still hasn’t recovered yet and she’s in a lot of danger out there all alone! ” I say freaking out as I take out my phone and dial her number.
” Where are you?! I ask as soon as she answers. My heart is beat is increasing and am so angry at her.
” Am sorry Vee, I didn’t meant to worry you. I’ll be back in about an hour. ”
” No…! Just tell me where you are and I’ll come get you. ”
” Stop stressing Vee, am going to meet up with Nick and Mike, ” she says and my heart stops for a second. ” Am actually outside Mikes apartment right now and they’ll drive me home home once we are done. ”
What?! Nick is with Mike?!
That can’t be right!
” Mike?!” I ask as my mind registered what is about to happen.
” Yes. ”
” Maya.. Get out of there immediately! Mike is not who you think he is.”
” What are you talking about? ”
” I don’t have time to explain, please leave that place at once! ”
” Okay, I’ll.. ” the call is dropped before she finishes her sentence and I loose all strength in me.
I try to call her over and over again, my hands shaky but her phone is off!
” Mike has Maya! ” I say looking at Alex’s and Rita’s h©rrified faces.
” We need to get to her, now! ” Alex says grabbing my hand and we all run out of the house.
