Just The Beginning ?
Episode fifty six
Maya
” Sht! ” I cur$e as i slowly try to open my eyes but they feel so heavy. My mind is still kind of fuzzy and I can’t remember what exactly happened. Am sure am in a car, since I can feel it moving and am lying on the backseat.
” So.. Where are we going?! ” a voice says and am more than sure it’s Mike.
Mike! I think to myself, as everything comes back to me.
I was talking to Vee on the phone and I remember her telling me to say away from him, but before I could turn and walk out of the place, Mike knocked the phone off my hand and put a clothe on my nose and that’s when everything went dark!
No wonder I have this crazy head ache!
But am still confused! What reason does Mike have to do this to me? Something bad must have really happened when I was still in the hospital but what?
” You’ll find out once we get there, ” another voice says and I swear it sounds so familiar but I just can’t seem to figure out whose voice it is.
” I just hope you don’t back out on our deal, ” Mike says.
” Don’t worry, I wont. You can have Vee once am done making her pay for almost leaving me without a leg. ”
Wait.. Uncle Peter!
Oh! He found us!
Vee was so right, He’s planning to use me to get to her!
I really messed up! I should have never left the house in the first place. Am sure that Vee won’t think twice before risking her life for me but I can’t let that happen!
Not again!
She already went through a lot in the past, and it won’t be fair if she goes through it again.
” Okay, ” Mike says.
This two are crazy!
But how do they even know each other?!
Anyway, that doesn’t matter, right now I have to find a way to get myself out of this situation that i stupidly led myself into!
I slowly lift up my hand and try to open the door and window, making sure that they can’t see me, but they are locked.
What do I do now?
I can try to break the window with my feet but they’ll obviously see me! And I don’t think am strong enough either.
Maybe I should pretended to be asleep the whole time and as soon as the car comes to a stop and the doors are unlocked, I’ll jump out and ran as far as my feet can carry me. I was always a good athlete and am sure I can outrun them even in my current condition.
The drive feels like forever! Where are they taking me?!
I sigh softly once the car finally comes to a stop and with the speed of lighting, I quickly jump from my seat and open the door as soon as its unlocked. I rush out using every strength in me and ran for my life screaming for help.
” Maya stop! ” My uncle shouts from behind as he runs after me, but I keep on running. “I swear I’ll shoot if you don’t, ” he says but that doesn’t scare me.
I’d rather die than let Vee suffer all over again! I’ll gladly sacrifice my life for her.
I think I’ve been running for almost ten minutes now, I can feel myself getting weaker and out of breath. Am sure if I don’t stop I’ll probably pass out. I look over my shoulder and I can’t see them anywhere. I finally lost them!
“I need a place to hide”! I think to myself as i look around still running and that’s when it hits me, am in my old neighborhood!
He brought me back home!
Am kind of relieved since I still know this place like the back of my hand. I take a left and soon spot a house a few minutes away. I remember one of my close friends from school used to live there, and am sure they’ll help me out.
A few steps away from the house, someone hits me on the head from behind and I turn to see Paul before I collapse!
When I finally regain consciousness again, my body whole body hurts and I feel like I’ve been running over.
” You are finally awake,” Mike says walking towards me. I look around and we are the only ones in the room. We are in the sitting in my old house and am tied to a chair. ” You gave us a fright there Maya, you can really run! and if it wasn’t for Paul, you’d have managed to escape! You are just as troublesome as your sister, aren’t you? ”
” Why are you doing this to me? ”
” I have nothing against you. I just want your sister to pay for sending me to jail?!” he says full of spite. ” I brought you some pain killers. I know your head must be killing you, ” he says.
” Am not taking any medicine and am sure you must have done something to her! She wouldn’t just send you to prison out of the blue! ”
” Okay.. Maybe I did try to rape her, but she made me do it, ” he says likes it no big deal.
” You tried to rape her?!”
” Yes I did, but it was partly your sisters fault. She led me on! ”
” Oh please Mike! You know that’s a lie! ”
” Okay..that might be lie, but the truth is that your sister knew that I loved her and she always took me for granted. I still can’t believe that she’s dating that Alex guy when all he ever did was insult and hurt her! What the hell did she see in him. ”
” Well.. Apart from been drop dead gorgeous! Alex is a nice guy, unlike you. ”
” Your sister will have to pay for choosing him. ”
” You are unbelievable! How can you hurt someone you claim to love? That’s not how love works Mike! ”
” Don’t lecture me about love! What could you possibly know? ”
” I know that if you truly love someone ,you always want to see them happy. Even if it’s with someone else. ”
” That’s easier said than done, Maya. I love vee and I want her to be only mine !”
” That won’t happen , if you get her to come here, my uncle is just going to hurt her and maybe even kill her! Do you want her to die? ”
” He won’t do that. He promised to give her back to me once she’s signed some property papers. ”
” And you believe him?! ”
” Of course I do! Your uncle bailed me out of prison. He’s the reason that am free and I trust him completely. ”
” That guy can’t be trusted, Mike! Please don’t do this to Vee, just let me go. ”
” You know I can’t do that, ” he says and my uncle walks in.
” Hey there, ” he says with a grin. ” I really missed you, didn’t you miss me at all? ” he asks while I just glared at him.
“You’ve grown to be a beautiful young lady, my brother would have been so proud .Too bad he’s not here, ” he continues.
” Am glad he isn’t here to see the monster you’ve become! He’d be so disappointed, ” I say shaking my head.
” Your dad was always dissapointed in me, he never appreciated anything I did! ” he says walking closer and squats next to me. ” All i ever wanted was for him to give me the credit I deserved by making me a partner in the studio but he did nothing, after I practically gave my life to that place! That’s why I had to kill him, ” he says looking deep in my eyes, a smirk on his lips.
Did he just say he killed my dad?!
” You killed him?!
” Yes, and your mum too.”
” What?! ” I ask gritting my teeth. ” How could you? He was your brother! ”
My blood is boiling with anger as i try to untie myself hands from the ropes, and he watches me in amusement.
I want to punch him so bad! How could he do this to my parents?!
” I had to do it for survival! When Vees Mum came in the picture, I knew he was going to leave everything to her, and I knew I had to do something before it happened,” he says standing up and walks around me. ” That night, I know we they were going out on a date like they always did on friday’s ,and so I poisoned both of them. The poison killed them on they way to the restaurant and that’s why they crashed.”
” You can’t take all the credit Peter, ” Paul says walking in. ” I helped to. ”
” Yes you did, and all we need is both your signatures and everything will finally be ours,” Peter says.
” You are all crazy! ”
” Tell us something we don’t know already, ” Mike says and they laugh.
” It’s time to make the call, ” Peter says his eys in me, As he takes out his phone. ” I just can’t wait to see Vee again! I hear she’s more beautiful and I hope she misses me like I do her. ”
He dials a number and I can hear it ring as he waits for it to be answered.
I really hope she doesn’t answer .
We can’t let this crazy idi©ts win all over again!
