Chapter 64

The couple was happy; they were back together, and having happiness in a relationship is what matters most. When there is love but no happiness, it is like an incomplete math set.

“You seem to have the blessings of all my family and friends,” Evelyn said, and Martin smiled shyly.

“Except your father,” he replied, and Evelyn’s face immediately changed. Martin casually stared at her, trying to see through her.

He knew for sure that Evelyn was hiding something about her father, and he was really going to find out.

“Well, let’s forget about that. I’m happy I have the love of your family,” Martin said, trying to break the silence, and Evelyn faked a smile.

She really was not herself anymore. Tears were already welling up in her eyes.

Martin stared at her, observing her, trying to see through her, and he could truly sense the sadness in her, even though she tried to hide it with her fake smile. Martin knew her very well, even more than she expected.

“You know, Evelyn, if there’s something you want to tell me, I’m always here for you,” he said, and Evelyn just stared at him. He was trying to make her feel at ease, trying to make her feel safe around him, and wanted her to share her problems or worries with him, but the girl was so scared. Scared of losing him.

She had lost him once, even though she was the one who gave the go-ahead, but she didn’t want it to happen a second time.

“Hmmm, I think I need to use the restroom,” she said, and rushed out of the office. Martin stared at her, then sighed.

OFFICE LOVE: CHAPTER 61 – 70

Elizabeth was seen walking down the main road when she almost bumped into a small figure, nearly knocking her off balance. But she reacted quickly and held the person.

“Hey, little one, be careful,” she said as she ruffled the younger one’s hair, and the younger one smiled lightly.

“I think I remember you… aren’t you Evelyn’s sister?” she asked, doubtingly, and almost immediately Haris showed up.

“Seriously, Ava, you scared the life out…” He stopped in his tracks when he saw Elizabeth standing in front of him.

“Hi,” she waved, but as usual, he just kept staring at her, making Elizabeth feel uncomfortable.

“Hey,” she snapped her fingers in front of him, and that seemed to bring him back to reality.

“Seriously, man, you’re always staring at me,” Elizabeth said and scoffed.

“When was it a crime for a man to admire a beauty standing in front of him?” Haris said, and Elizabeth couldn’t help but smile.

“Thank you,” she replied, smiling, and Haris smiled too.

“I never mentioned you were beautiful… so what’s with the smile?” Haris teased her a little, and she just frowned, glaring at him angrily.

“I’m just teasing you… you are beautiful beyond the word ‘beautiful,'” he said, and Elizabeth blushed even more.

“My name is Haris,” he stretched his hand towards her, and Elizabeth received it politely, and Haris could swear he felt a current inside of him.

“Elizabeth,” she replied, smiling, and as usual, Haris got lost staring at her.

She tried to withdraw her hand, but he didn’t allow her to.

“Hey, I need to go now; my friends are waiting for me,” she said, and that was when he let go of her hand.

“Bye,” she waved with a smile and walked away, while Haris just kept smiling while staring at her walking away.

“Seriously, you look like a gorilla with the way you’re smiling,” Ava said, laughing, and Haris rolled his eyes and picked her up.

“What have I told you about calling me names?” he tickled her, and the younger one burst into laughter.

“Babe,” Martin called as he entered her office, but he found it empty.

“Is she still in the restroom?” he muttered to himself and tried to walk out, but then he spotted a piece of paper on the table. He walked towards it and picked up the paper.

“Hey sweetheart, I am going to visit my mother, and don’t bother coming.

I just want to spend alone time with my mother,” he read, and he scoffed.

He thought they had agreed to visit her together, and it was only 12:00, so it wasn’t even time for her to leave. So, what’s with the hurry? He thought, and he couldn’t help but worry.

“Something is going on with Eve,” he muttered to himself, and he quickly rushed out of the office.

A woman in her late 40s was seen sleeping peacefully on the bed when the door opened, and Martin walked in. He looked around, trying to find Eve, but he didn’t see her.
