Chapter 89
Everyone sat down ready to dig in.
“Wow, my favorite food,” Liam said as the maids served the food.
The food consisted of macaroni and meatballs.
The dining room was silent. Only the sound of plates and spoons could be heard as everyone enjoyed their meal.
Evelyn’s phone rang, and she sighed when she saw the name ‘Lightwood Prison.’
Probably, he might have seen the news, and he is worried.
She cleared her throat as she stood up.
“Excuse me, guys. I will be right back,” she said and walked out of the dining room, and Martin stared at her as she walked upstairs, and then he stood up.
“Excuse me, guys,” he said and walked upstairs too.
“Where are they going?” the little one asked Haris, who just smiled and ruffled her hair.
“They will be back soon,” he replied, and the younger one nodded.
Haris’s eyes met with Noah’s, but he quickly pretended like he didn’t see him.
He didn’t even think that they are going to meet again.
“Princess, are you okay?” he asked immediately she picked up the call.
“I am fine, Dad. You should be asking after Ava. She was kidnapped,” Evelyn said, and Mr. Jackson sighed.
He knows who did it, no doubt.
“I hope she is okay,” he said.
“Yeah, she is okay,” she replied, and he sighed in relief.
“You met a good man, daughter. I saw it on the news, how he was determined to protect you.
I will be so proud to have him as a son-in-law,” he said, and Evelyn burst into laughter.
“Seriously, Dad?”
“Yeah. He has the qualities that make him a perfect husband,” he said, and Evelyn laughed again.
“Bye, princess. Just glad you are safe,” he said, and he hung up.
Evelyn sighed and turned around, only to see Martin staring at her, and she rolled her eyes.
“I knew you were going to come along,” Evelyn said, smiling at him.
“Who was that?” he asked, pointing to her phone.
“Oh, my Dad. He just wants to check on us if we’re doing okay, and guess what?” Evelyn said, smiling.
“What?” Martin raised his eyebrows in a questioning manner.
“He praised you. He said he would be happy to have you as his son-in-law,” Evelyn said, and Martin blushed, making Evelyn laugh.
“Come on, let’s go downstairs,” she grabbed his hand, and they both walked out of the room.

“I wonder why they’re still upstairs. They’re probably having a good time,” James said, and immediately a slap landed on the back of his head.
“Seriously?” He groaned as he held the back of his head.
“You talk too much. What fun were we having?” Martin said, hissing.
“Hmm, after eating, everywhere will seem boring. So, I was thinking we could play a game,” Liam suggested.
“What game?” Elizabeth asked.
“Truth or dare,” he replied.
“Wow, I’m in,” Noah said.
“Hmm, I don’t play such games,” Evelyn said, and James scoffed.
“Everybody is playing,” James said.
