Chapter 138
The large gate opened, and they drove inside.
“We are here,” Martin said. Evelyn rubbed her sweaty hands together, trying to calm down.
Martin walked to her side and opened the door for her. He extended his hand, which Evelyn gently took, and she stepped out of the car.
The guards bowed down immediately as he walked past them, while Evelyn looked around.
They walked into the sitting room, and immediately Charlotte hugged her, almost knocking her off.
“Oh my gosh,” Evelyn gasped in shock, but she calmed down after she saw it was Charlotte.
The hug was unexpected.
“Sweetheart,” her mother called and hugged Evelyn, who reciprocated.
“How are you doing?”
“Fine,” she faked a smile.
She looked sideways only to notice Mr. Parker standing there, staring at them as they hugged each other, and she grabbed hold of Martin’s shirt, who just rolled his eyes.
“Seriously, calm down,” he whispered in her ear.
Mr. Parker walked towards her, which seemed to increase her anxiety.
“Welcome, daughter-in-law,” he said with a smile on his face, and Evelyn sighed in relief and turned to look at Martin, who gave her an “I told you” look.
“Come on, let’s eat. I told the maids to prepare something special since someone special was coming over today,” Mr. Parker said, and Evelyn blushed, turning to look at Martin, who just winked at her.
They all sat down in the dining room eating. The dining room was very quiet. Only the sounds of plates and spoons could be heard.
“So, when did you and my son start dating?” Mr. Parker asked, staring at Evelyn, who gulped.
She didn’t really know how to answer that question. They dated for two years and then they broke up, but after three years, they started dating again.
It is kind of weird for her to answer that way.
“Hmmm well…”
“Dad, we were exes before, so we just got back together,” Martin replied, and Mr. Parker nodded.
“Dad, where is your second wife and children?” Martin asked, and Mr. Parker rolled his eyes.
“They traveled out of the country,” Mr. Parker replied, and Martin scoffed.
“I was just curious to know who changed my son,” Mr. Parker said directly to Evelyn, who was kind of confused.
“I mean, how do you change Martin? He is arrogant and annoying, and you could hardly see him happy.
But now he smiles a lot, and I know that is because of you.
So tell me, how did you change him?” Mr. Parker said, and Evelyn laughed softly.
“That I haven’t figured out yet. I don’t know why people keep saying I changed him when I don’t know how,” Evelyn said, and Martin chuckled.
“Let me answer that question,” Martin said, and everyone turned to look at him.
“You know when you are with the right one, they change you completely.
Everything she does always brightens up my mood. Whenever I am upset, seeing her alone always puts a smile on my face.
She is a part of me, and that’s why she could change me,” he said, and everyone just smiled.
Evelyn playfully hit Martin’s chest as she couldn’t stop blushing.
“I don’t want to be the one to spoil your happiness, and I also don’t want you to bring back that bad character of yours, so I’m not stopping you from dating her,” Mr. Parker said…
