PREGNANT FOR A PRINCE : EPISODES 71 – THE END
By Faith Lucky
Episode 73
Mum – her face kept replaying in my head. I still couldn’t believe I had seen her today. I mean…I didn’t want to.
I could recall the surprise on her face and I’m pretty sure she was shocked to know I was still in the country.
Well, if she’s been expecting me to return to her, she must be greatly mistaken. She kicked me out when I needed her the most.
I recall how I had pleaded with her to believe me, but she turned deaf ears made me leave with a stranger.
Well, now, I don’t need her anymore.
“Mum,” Axel called from behind, and I sniffed and turned to look at him.
“Who was that woman? It seems you both know each other,” he said, and I twitched.
“Um…what woman are you talking about?” I asked, trying to pretend.
“The woman we almost knocked down on our way back from school.
I heard her call your name. Who’s she?” he asked again, and I blinked rapidly and turned back to my pot.
“Um…she’s just someone I used to know,” I replied simply, trying to keep my hands busy by chopping the carrots.
And thankfully, he didn’t say anything regarding it again.
“Mum…” he called after a while of silence.
“Yes, son,” I replied, still chopping the carrots and not turning to look at him.
“There’s a question I’ve always wanted to ask. Where’s my father?”
Immediately, I cringed and mistakenly hit the knife on my hand, creating a little cut.
Oh my God!
The bI.ood coming out from my finger didn’t matter as I stood like a statue, gobsmacked by the question.
Axel also didn’t say anything, and slowly, I turned and looked at him.
For the first time, I felt nervous in front of my own son.
“Axel…” I called and stood to face him. My eyes were on the floor.
“Um…your father…he…”
“Did he abandon us?” he asked, and I gasped and dropped to a crouch immediately.
“Of….of course, not. He’d never do such a thing. He just….”
“Is he still alive?” he cut me off, looking into my eyes and searching for answers.
I stared back at him and didn’t know what to say.
Is Zosar still alive? Of course.
The last I saw him was five years ago, and I haven’t heard from him since then.
Tears formed up in my eyes, but I tried so much not to spill them in front of the kid.
“I don’t know, son. We…just kinda got separated. I’m sorry,” I concluded with a mutter, and a tear came rolling down.
I sniffed and was about to wipe it off when Axel did it himself.
“It’s okay, Mum. I understand. Sorry for making you cry,” he spoke softly and hugged me.
Oh my God!
I smiled as I held him tight, releasing more tears since he couldn’t stare into my face.
I stroked his hair gently and remembered all I had gone through giving birth to him.
I couldn’t believe he was now the one consoling me.
Oh! Zosar, where are you? I wish you were here to make our family complete.
