Episode 75

After a few more hours, the time finally elapsed, and I felt relieved knowing I’d soon be home.

I decided to inform Zach I was leaving and found him making a call in his office. Fortunately, he ended the call when I entered.

“Good evening, sir,” I said with my hands clasped together.

“Zoey! What’s up?” he asked with a bright smile.

“I’m fine, sir. Thanks. I uh…just wanted to inform you I was about to leave.”

“Oh! Is that so?”

“Yes. And I…”

I paused and approached him.

“I actually need a favor from you, sir. Please, I don’t know if it’ll be possible.”

“Please, go on. Go on. Feel free,” he encouraged me, and I cleared my throat and began.

“Actually…my son’s fees need to be cleared in school, but I have no money.

So, I was wondering if it’d be possible to get paid in advance, sir,” I stated nervously, and for a moment, he was speechless.

“Is that all?” he asked, and I nodded slowly, feeling a little confused.

“Zoey,” he called with a sigh. “If you’re facing such issues, you should feel free to tell me, please.

Anyway, don’t worry about it. The money will be transferred to you soon,” he replied, and my eyes lit up.

Oh! Thank goodness!

“I have your account details, and I will transfer the money in a few hours,” he added.

“Okay. Thank you so much, sir. I really appreciate it. Thanks a lot,” I thanked him repeatedly, feeling elated. He didn’t even ask for the amount.

“Come on, Zoey. That’s enough. It’s okay.”

“Um….have you thought about my proposal? The dinner?” he suddenly asked, and I froze.
Oops!

For a moment, I was silent and contemplated it.

Could I say no? Maybe…it could be my way of showing appreciation for his help.

After all, it’s just dinner.

“Um…okay, sir. I’ll be there,” I told him, and his face broke into a smile.

“Okay, Zoey. I’ll text you the time and location. Thanks.”

“Alright. Bye.”

And I turned around and left.

Hmm.

Zach’s Perspective:

“Yes!” I exclaimed and hit the table as soon as she left the office.

Wohoo!
I knew she was going to agree to it. I knew it was going to work out.

I reached for my phone and texted the guy’s line.

?Make sure everything is set. I wouldn’t want any disappointments.

I reminded him and smiled afterward.

Finally, I’ll be getting engaged.
