STRANGE NEIGHBOR
EPISODE-TWO
My father rose to his feet and walked and shook hands with Raymond Smith. “It is a pleasure meeting you, sir”.
“Ray will be fine please”.
After exchanging pleasantries with everyone, he left.
I and my big head brother, Tyler rushed to the cake and began to eat it.
The next morning, my younger sister, Christiana was giving me attitude.
She didn’t even allow me to use her eyepencil.
I hurried to the bus station with a marshed potatoe face.
No make up and ruffled hair.
As I waited for the bus, a car drove and parked.
It was the strange neighbour.
He craned. “Get in”.
I reluctantly entered the car. “Good morning”.
He made eyes at me. “You don’t eat stranger’s food and you were busy rushing the cake with your brother last night”.
I gasped and stared breathlessly at him. How on earth had he seen what had happened in my house? “How did you see it? How did you see me?”
He chuckled and continued driving.
“Who are you?”.
He remained silent and continued driving.
There was work load for me at work.
I had load of designs I had to create for a business project we were inventing in the company.
During the company break, I walked to eat with Stella and Nessa at the company dining hall.
We were gisting about the development of the company and stopped short when Michael Cole walked in.
My heart was beating in my mouth and I buried my face into my food.
He was every girl’s crush in Delight company.
Michael Cole was handsome and wealthy.
He was the nephew of the chairman of Delight company.
When he had asked me out, I had given him a ‘YES’ immediately.
Was that the mistake I had made?
Had I been too cheap?
Suddenly, saucy Angela walked in.
Everyone called her saucy Angela because she didn’t associate with anyone because she was a family friend of the chairman of Delight company.
Surprisingly, they held hands.
Micheal and Angela.
Everyone hailed them except me.
It hurt that he had broken up with me because of Angela.
He cleared his throat. “Everyone, can you listen? Well I and Angela are back together. During the time I was away,I had used a lot of girls to ward away my feelings for her but it just wasn’t working”.
It hurt too much to hear it.
Michael Cole had used me to get Angela jealous.
It felt so painful.
I couldn’t bear it anymore.
I got to my feet.
“Thanks for your time, Laura. I am sorry I had hurt you”. He said it loudly so that everyone would hear and that was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to me.
I rushed out of the dining hall and sobbed heartily.
It hurt too much.
I had grown to love someone that had been using me.
Someone touched me from behind.
I looked up.
It was the strange neighbour, Raymond Smith.
He was wearing a white overall suit and slacks and holding out a white handkerchief. “Don’t ever cry for any man. It is because of your low self esteem that men have been leaving you”.
I was shocked to see him. “What are you doing here?”.
He shrugged. “I came to put some people in their place”.
I was confused.
I cleaned the tears in my eyes with the white handkerchief.
As I stood right there, Stella and Nessa rushed to me. “The CEO ordered an urgent workers meeting”.
I joined them in the meeting room upstairs.
It was the strange neighbour.
He was standing in our midst and the CEO was smiling at him.
Our CEO hardly smiled at anyone except he loved the person.
“My name is Raymond Smith, the only legitimate son of the chairman of Delight company. I look forward to working with you all”
I couldn’t swallow my breath.
My strange neighbour was living in a rented apartment despite the fact that he was the biological son of the chairman of Delight company?
It was strange.
Raymond Smith seemed to know a lot about me than I even know about myself.
There were a lot of things I had to find out about Raymond Smith.
My strange neighbour was the son of the CEO of my company ?
