I pulled off Michael’s grip. “I have no relationship with your cousin so you have nothing to be worried about”.
“I don’t care if you are in a relationship with Ray or not”.
Raymond Smith walked away.
Michael looked suspiciously at me. “Did you meet Anabelle Greg, the CEO of Mountain farms?”.
“Oh, yes,I met her. What about her?”.
” She and Raymond Smith have been friends for ten years now. She had always liked him but Raymond never dated her. Raymond never dated or loved anyone ever since i came in contact with him. There are rumours that Raymond is gay but Anabelle loves him. She came all the way from Texas because of him”.
I nodded thoughtfully and looked up at him. “What exactly do you want from me?”
“I want to get married to you in two months time”.
It was shocking.
Michael wanted to get married to me just like that?
It was huge temptation.
I wanted to get married.
I really wanted to get married.
I admitted.
It was temptation to me because I still loved Micheal.
The manager of my department asked me to deliver some files to the new office of Anabelle Greg.
I knocked and walked in.
Raymond Smith was also in her office and they were both staring at something in Anabelle’s computer.
I recollected what Michael told me.
They had been friends for a while.
I wondered why Raymond didn’t propose to her for ten good years.
I dropped the files on her desk and I caught Raymond staring at me.
“Thanks so much”. Annabelle commended.
I bowed.
“Can we be good friends? Raymond told me that you are the nicest person in Delight. How about if we relate with each other?”.
I nodded. “It will be a pleasure ma’am”.
I walked out of the office, wondering why Raymond told Ann that I was the best person in Delight.
It was finally closing hours.
I rushed to the bus station.
I saw Anabel’s car approach me.
She popped out a head. “Can we talk in my car for a minute?”.
I entered the car.
She cleared her throat. “How long have you known my Raymond?”.
“Not too long”.
“Can you help me? Raymond’s mother will be coming back very soon. I want you to fix a date. She wants Raymond to be married soon but he doesn’t want to get married”.
“Do you want to marry him?”.
“It is not about me wanting to marry him, it is about my destiny with Raymond which is to be married to him very soon. Just help me to talk to him so that he can fix the wedding date”
I nodded thoughtfully. “I will do what I can”.
We exchanged contacts and I walked out of her car and waited by the bus station.
Immediately she zoomed off, Raymond drove and parked. “Get in, Laura”.
I entered into the car and he drove on.
Raymond cleared his throat and looked at me. “Do you know why Michael came for you today? The girl he ditched you for confessed her feelings to me today”.
I gasped.
Michael had proposed to me because saucy Angela had rejected him because he was not the potential heir of Delight company.
It hurt again.
That familiar hurt that always tucked my heart anytime Michael made me feel like I was a second option.
I didn’t say a word and accepted the hurt in my heart.
“Your father is the reason you are not married by now”. He said softly.
I looked up at him.
It was shocking.
The statement that came out of his mouth.
“Have you ever tried asking your father deeply about his relationship with Chief Harry?”.
“Chief Harry?”.
“My short while of being Bilhara’s vet, I overheard the conversation between your father and chief Harry and it was not a good one at all”.
That was on my mind all through till he drove me to the house.
My dad was driving into our compound as Raymond was driving in from behind.
I met Raymond’s eyes.
Raymond was glaring at my father…
