Chapter Five
The man in my dreams
Erica was laying on the bed in her little room. She heard a loud bang on the door. She quickly sat up and stared at the door.
“Who is that?” She asked.
The door threw open as aunt Winnie walked into her room.
She stared round the room in disgust and stared back at Erica.
“Hi aunt” she greeted.
“Sally told me that they entered a bus to school. That shows that you have received your monthly payment” she said.
Erica folded her arms waiting for what she didn’t want to hear.
“So?” She asked.
“You have to pay for the meals you’ve been eating and your stay here” she said.
Erica scoffed and stood up. She walked towards aunt Winnie.
“I’m paying for nothing. This is my parent house. Besides, what food am I paying you for? The little tea or burnt toast you serve me in the morning. That won’t happen” she said and turned to return to her bed but Winnie pulled her back and raised her hand to sIap her.
Erica was quick to stop it from reaching her face.
“Look aunt, I’ve received all the be.atings and insults for too long. It has to stop here and now!” She said and flung her aunt hand away.
Winnie was shocked. She just shot her mouth wide open and watched Erica lay back on the bed.
“I want you out of this house by tomorrow!” She said and left.
“With all due pleasure, just don’t forget that this house still belong to me. I’m just letting it go because of Sally and Sean” she said.
Winnie turned and left the room angrily.
Erica sighed and stared at the ceiling. She never meant to talk to Winnie like that. It was already too much to handle.
She closed her eyes and dozed off.

“I love you”
“I love you too” she replied back. But as she drew her face closer to kss the love of her life. She heard a loud sound.
She sprung up from the bed and threw her alarm away angrily.
She didn’t understand why she always dreamt of that stranger.
“Arghhh! Is he the same person from the club last night?” She murmured.
“Ah!” She groaned and left the bed.
She arranged her bags and prepared of leave the house.
Sally and Sean didn’t want her to leave already. They started sobbing as they hugged her waist.
“Oh Sally, I’ll come visit you anytime” she said.
“You don’t have to go” Sally said.
“I have to go. I promised to get a car so that I can drive you to school. I want to do that, okay?” She asked and Sally nodded.
Sean made a sign that he was going to miss her.
She also replied back with the same sign.
“You don’t need to worry too much Sean, I’ll miss you more and also Sally. You both!” She said.
“It’s time to go to school now” Winnie said and grabbed her kids hand.
She left the house with the both of them.
Too bad, Harris was out of town. She couldn’t say good bye to him.
She took her bag and left to the Cafe. She got there early but Ava came earlier.
Ava saw her with her bag and dropped her phone.
“Oh my… Why are you with you bag?” She asked.
“I got kicked out of my own house” Erica replied and went through the counter.
“Thank goodness. I’m happy. At least, you could stay away from that dangerous annoying wtch” Ava rolled her eyes.
“Very funny” Erica said and went to the kitchen.

The car pulled over in front of the company. The body guard quickly opened the door for Calvin and Kelvin.
They both alight from the car and adjusted their suit.
Calvin wore his sunglasses and sighed deeply.
“Another day at the office” he murmured and followed his quiet brother into the office.

“They are here! They are here!”
One of the employees announced. The others quickly comported themselves and acted like they’ve been working.
Kelvin and Calvin walked pass them and went into the elevator.
As the door shut, they all sighed and started to murmur.
“Calvin was on the right, right?”
“No, he was the one on the left”
“Just keep quiet and get back to work!”.

Calvin got into his office and lit his ¢igarette. As he puffed out the smoke, he sighted the file George brought in yesterday. He grabbed it and opened it.
“Hmm, this is good” he murmured.
He grabbed the telephone and summoned George to his office.

Few minutes later, George was at his office.
He stood in front of Calvin.
“I peeped into the CV. The person is good even if not experienced. We can work on that. There’s no contact, how do we reach the person?” he asked.
“I’ll get her for you master” he said.
“Okay then, it’s Friday today. Let her meet me after lunch” he said.
“Sure, she would” George replied and left the office happily.
He got to his desk and called Ava.

Ava saw George calling her phone. She rolled her eyes and neglected the call.
It rang again and she forced herself to pick up.
“What do you want je.rk?” She asked.
“Hi Ava, I’m asking about my sister. Can I talk to her?” He asked.
“Whatever!” Ava walked to the kitchen and gave Erica the phone.
“It’s your brother” she said and went back to the counter.
Erica placed the phone on her ear slowly. She didn’t know how to handle a phone.
“Hey bro” she said, leaning on the sink.
“You have to be at the company when it’s 12:30pm” he said.
“But I have to distribute flyers”
“Quit that job. You’ll get a job at the company” he said.
Erica’s face brightened up.
“I will!” She said.
“Sure, just dress well and be nice” he said.
“I’m always nice, duh!” She said and disconnected the call.

Calvin went into his brother office.
“Are you going to have lunch with me?” He asked.
“No, you can go alone” he replied.
“Okay” Calvin replied and left his office.
Kelvin stared at his brother and continued staring at his computer.

Calvin drove down the street and pulled over in front of a Cafe.
“Is this a good place? Well, only one way to find out” he said and alight from the car.
He slammed the door and took off his sunglass to have a clearer view.
“Let’s see” he said and opened the door.
Immediately, he bumped into someone with a travelling box.
“Oh my, I’m so sorry” she said and picked it up.
“It’s okay. Girls look for ways to bump into me” he replied.
Erica stood up and gazed at him. It was the man from yesterday, the one she always see in her dreams.
“What do you mean?” She asked with a shaky voice.
“It doesn’t matter” he smiled and walked away from her.
“Just watch your way instead. I hate people bumping into me” she said and left.
Calvin turned and gazed at her as she left the Cafe.
He smiled and walked towards Ava.
“Hello!”
Ava started twirling her hair around her index finger.
“Hello to you too” she said, blinking repeatedly.
