Chapter Sixteen
Erica got into the Jeep and told the driver to drive to the airport. He obeyed and he drove off.
They got to the airport after an hour.
Erica stood, waiting for Barbie.
She saw a lot of people also waiting for their relatives, loved ones and also delivery.
Suddenly, she heard some screams and Barbie was the reason.
She folded her arms and watched as Barbie waved at them smiling weirdly.
“Urgh! I hate her!” She murmured.
Barbie walked towards Erica and neglected her. She acted like she didn’t see her but Erica didn’t care. She sighed and followed her behind.
She stood by the car and started pressing her phone.
She gazed at Erica and lowered her sunglasses.
“Am I supposed to tell you your job?” She asked.
Erica furrowed her eyebrows.
“What job?”
“Open the door bch!” She yelled.
Erica scoffed. She opened the passenger seat and went into the car. She sat beside the driver and wore her seatbelt.
Barbie was shocked. She fully took off her glasses angrily. She opened the door herself and entered into the car with her luggage.
“Someone didn’t help you with that!”
She heard Erica’s voice and glared at her even if she couldn’t see her face.
“Let’s go to the mansion” Erica told the driver. He nodded and zoomed off.
Her lips curved into a smile. She enjoyed seeing the anger on her face.
Her phone rang and she saw it was Calvin.
She answered it quickly and placed the phone on her ear.
“Sir!”
“Have you picked my sister already?”
“Yes sir. She is looking so beautiful with the look on her face” she said and turned to see Barbie’s angry face. She turned and stared at the road.
“Very good. Led her home and report to the office immediately”
“Got it sir!” She said and disconnected the call.

They arrived at home some hours later. She excorted Barbie into the house and her room.
“I’m glad that I’ve completed my task” she said and turned to leave.
“Get me a… I mean, tell a maid to get a glass of chilled juice” she said as walked away.
“Sure, I would” Erica replied and walked out of the room.
“Get the guest a glass of hot chocolate” she said.
“Yes ma’am” she said and went to the kitchen.

Erica reported back to the office. Suddenly, she heard her name.
She turned and saw a cop. He was so cute as f*ck!
“I didn’t commit any crime!” She said jokingly.
“Very funny. I’m detective Josh. I’m here to talk to you”
“Have we met before?” She asked.
George sighted her sister with a cop. He left his desk and walked towards them.
“Hello!” He said.
“No, we haven’t. I’ve been searching for you for about a month”
“So how did you end up finding me?” She asked.
“You are Erica. You’ve worked in a bar, cafe and also on street. I got an information from your ex co worker in the cafe that you would be here” he said.
“So?” Erica frowned.
“Three months ago, you made a report about a case” he said and Erica remembered everything. She remembered when she filed a case months ago but why was she getting a response now.
“What case?” Her brother asked.
She stared at him and lowered her gaze.
“Mom and Dad” she said.
“I told you to let go that. It was a freak accident” George said.
“What if I told you that it wasn’t an accident but a long time planned mvrder!”
George and Erica shot detective Josh a hard glare.
“A.. a mvrder?”
“Who would want to kll mom and dad?” George muttered.
“How are we sure you aren’t lying?” Erica asked.
“We opened the car two months ago and the first thing we saw was some poison in their bI.ood. Someone has been trying to kll them a long time ago. There are also a lot of things to show you but you have to show up and the station to know more about the case” he said.
Erica nodded.
“We’ll be there. Maybe on Saturday” she said.
“Yeah, Saturday” George said.
The detective nodded and left.

“They’ve reopened the case. Whoever klled mom and dad must pay dearly for this” Erica muttered with anger in her tone.
“Very dearly!” George said with a frown on his face

She reported back to the office.
“You are late!” Calvin said.
“I’m sorry sir. I’ve been downstairs, taking care of something” she said.
Calvin noticed her voice was breaking. He stood up and walked towards her.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing sir” she said and looked away from him. More questions like that would make her tears drop.
“Don’t think of me as your boss now. Think of me as your friend” he said.
Erica raised her head and stared at him. She saw the care in his eyes. She sniffed in and started talking.
“My parents got into an accident years back. I just found out that it was a mvrder. Someone klled my parents” she said.
“That’s awful. I’m sorry about that. If there’s anyway I can help you, let me know” he said.
“Thank you” she said and cleaned her tears, wearing a fake smile.
“Speaking of which, my sister called that you ordered a hot chocolate for her instead of juice” he said.
Erica sucked in her lips, trying not to laugh.
“Did I?” She murmured.
“Really Erica? Really?”
Erica couldn’t help but laugh loudly.
“I’m sorry sir. I… She needed something that would make her skin glow”
“And you thought hot chocolate was the best answer” he said and Erica nodded.
Calvin joined her in laughing.
“That’s the smile I want to see. I don’t want to see you cry, okay?”
“Yes sir!” She yelled.
“Now get back to work!” He said.
As she turned to walk towards her desk, the door flung open.
She turned and saw Kelvin.
“Oh brother! You are here! This is the first time of coming into my office. Make yourself comfortable” Calvin said.
“Keep your voice down” he said and walked away.
“Is he always that grumpy?” Erica asked.
“Hmm, sometimes. But he’s fun to be with” he said.
“You mean the opposite of that right?” Erica furrowed her eyebrows.
“Bingo!” He said amd they both laughed again.
Kelvin opened the door and glared at them.
They sucked in the remaining laughter and walked to their seat. They acted like they were working.
Kelvin slammed the door close and they continued laughing secretly.

“Two of the companies. So, you should make preparation” Calvin said to Erica as they walked towards the car.
“Yes sir” she said.
“I’ll give you the remaining details when you report to the mansion tomorrow” he said and Erica nodded.
She watched as the twin walked into the car and drove off.
She kept the tablet in her bag and walked to the Cafe. She saw Ava cleaning the counter.
“Look who is here! It’s my girlfriend!” Ava yelled.
Erica closed her face. She didn’t like the way the customers were staring at her.
“Cut it out Ava. Do you want people to think we are ga.y?!”
“Well, that’s their thought baby. But speaking of which, how do g.ay actually have sx? That’s like… Gross, di$gusting”
“That’s enough. Everyone knows it’s gross” Erica rolled her eyes.
“Oh yeah, a hot cop was looking for you. I told him…”
“I’ve found him already” she said.
Ava drew her face closer to hers.
“What does he want? Do you have his contact number?”
“I thought you were dating my brother”
“Yeah, I am. I just love to flirt with guys. I talk to them, make them fall in love with me and when they ask me out. I tell them I have a boyfriend. See, that’s how life works”
Erica shook her head. She can’t believe she had such a friend.
“Well, the cops reopened my parents case”
“Oh, I see. But why?”
“They figured out that it was a murder and not a freak accident” she said.
Ava shot her eyes wide open.
“What? Who would want to kll such sweet couple?” She asked.
“I can’t answer that. It’s confusing”
“Hmm, this would be a very difficult case. How would we find a mvrderer who committed a clean mvrder by mvrdering two innocent souls ten years ago?”
Erica slapped her forehead.
“Ah jeez, Ava!”
