Chapter Sixty Six

Kelvin took a step closer to Erica. He bent over, staring at Erica.
“You know what I mean” he said. Erica shook her head and walked away from him. She was having a different thought.

“Just leave Kelvin” she said. Kelvin didn’t resist. He pulled her back and placed his two hands on her shoulder.

“Erica, I love you. I know you do also. Why are you avoiding the love?” He asked.

“What love? Huh? The love I have for you… Has expired. You made it expire. If you had confessed to me at the right time, I would have known what is to do and be with you instead. But no, you were that cold guy looking for love” she said calmly. She didn’t know when tears ran down her cheek. Kelvin wiped the tears from her face.

“I agree it’s all my fault. I can’t ruin things for my brother. That was why I said no that night. After being with you for a little while, that was when I knew I couldn’t resist you” he said again. Erica sniffed in and wiped her tears again with the back of her palms.

“I don’t know Kelvin. I really don’t know what to do. The wedding is next week and I can’t say anything to Calvin” she said.

“If you had the opportunity, would you say no to him on the alter?” He asked. Erica didn’t know what to answer. She can’t just say yes, she was still unsure. She moved back from Kelvin.

“I don’t know” she said in a whisper.

“See Erica! You are too stubborn” Kelvin groaned and kicked the bed.

“I’m not, okay? I’m not. I’m just finding it hard to find the man in my dreams because he is the one meant for me. What if it’s your brother and not you? What if it’s you and not Calvin? It’s me that’s the victim here. I don’t want to ruin my life. If I end up with you when Calvin is the man in my dreams, what the f*ck am I going to do? Marry you?” She asked. Kelvin sighed deeply.

“It’s okay. I understand, you have just this little time left to decide who you want to end up with, me or Calvin” Kelvin said and left Erica’s room. Erica groaned hard and sat on the bed. She slammed her head on her palms thinking about her life. She was really confused about everything.

“Kelvin… Calvin? Why do they even have similar names?!” She squeezed her face and walked back to the bathroom.

The next morning, the power was restored. Erica left her room with her rough hair and sighted someone leg on the couch.
“Who’s that?” She asked herself. She held her night robe tight and walked towards the couch. She peeped and saw that it was Kelvin. She stared at his face for some seconds, biting her lower lips.

“Why is he still here?” She murmured. Then there was a knock on the door. She left the sitting room and walked towards the door.

“Yeah?” She asked.

“Master” he replied.

“Oh yeah, come in” she replied. She closed the door and turned, only to see that Kelvin was up already. He was buttoning his shirt.

The guard that came stared at me and back at Kelvin. He had some strange look on his face.

“I had a great time here, thank you miss Erica” Kelvin said. The guard was getting more confused. Erica noticed his look. She quickly stared at Kelvin, giving him a STOP look.

“That’s okay, you should leave now” Erica said, smiling weirdly.

“It’s okay. It’s a secret” he said. Erica shot her eyes wide open.

“What do you mean by that? What secret?” She asked, grinning her teeth.

“Oh, I forgot. Let’s go!” He turned to the guard and left. Erica slammed the door and walked away.
“Gosh!!” She groaned.

“Where are we headed master?” He asked Kelvin.

“Take me to the company” he said.

“Yes master”

Kelvin walked into the company, adjusting his tie. He had a long drive because of the road was blocked. The rain was quite heavy last night.

He got to the office and opened the door. He saw Ava there.
“Oh, you are alright. Thank goodness” Ava said.

“Yes, I’m alright” he said awkwardly and left to his sit. As he sat down, Ava disappeared from the room.

“Where is…” He murmured. After some seconds, Ava walked in with Calvin. Ava wanted to know what happened in Erica’s house. And the only way is Calvin.

“Welcome brother, I see you spent the night at my fiancee’s house” Calvin smiled as he sat opposite his brother. Kelvin handed his phone to Ava.

“It’s dead” he said and turned to his brother.
“I’m sorry, I never meant to” he replied.

“Oh it’s nothing. You are my brother, whatever belongs to you, belongs to me” Calvin said jokingly. Kelvin chuckled weirdly and leaned back on the chair.

“So, how’s she?”

“Huh?” He furrowed his eyebrows.

“How is Erica?” He asked again, slowly so that his brother would get the question.

“She’s good. We didn’t talk much. The night was cold and quite short” Kelvin didn’t know what to say again. He just had to say rubbish.

“Short? It’s okay. I need your help. It’s Saturday, by this time next week, I’ll be getting married to Erica. Would you help me?” He asked.

“Sure, I would love to” Kelvin replied, nodding his head repeatedly. Ava frowned. She knew something was wrong somewhere. She walked back to her seat, slamming her phone on her palm softly.

“I need to see Erica” she murmured and went into the bathroom. She locked the door behind and dialed Erica’s number.

“Hey”

“You called? What?” Erica asked.

“Don’t what me… What happened yesterday?” Ava asked.

“Uh, we had lunch at the mansion, I got home and slept off” she said.

“Now is not a great time to joke Erica. What happened between you and Kelvin?” She asked.

“Nothing… What were you expecting? Another round of sx, huh?” She replied. Ava sighed deeply.

“You have no idea what you are doing Erica. Can’t wait for your wedding. If you don’t make your mind, you’ll end up losing both of them, mark my words” she said and disconnected the call. She was running out of ideas on how to get Erica to make up her mind about Kelvin. She got out of the bathroom and saw Calvin was already leaving. She stared at Kelvin as she walked back to her desk. She was trying to read her expression but it was difficult.

Erica was working from home. She was still lazy to go to the company.
She got a call from Tracy but it was an unknown number.

“Hey” she said.

“Erica dear, it’s Mrs Greg” she heard. She quickly changed her tone.

“Hello ma’am, it’s nice to hear from you again” she said.

“Yeah, me too. Let’s meet. Text me your location and I’ll send the driver to get you” she said. Erica couldn’t say no to her mother in law to be. She stared at her laptop and diverted her gaze from it.

“Yes ma’am” she said. As the call was disconnected, she quickly texted her the address. She rushed into her room and look for something nice to wear. She was lucky to find one after trashing her room with clothes. She was applying a little make up on her face when she heard the doorbell rang.

“He’s here” she said and picked up her purse and phone. She head out of the house and got into the car. She was partly nervous, going to meet her future mother in law. She had watched movies where she saw that mother in law’s pretend to love their daughter in law. Then in secret, pays the daughter in law to leave her son. She shook the thought out of her head and stared at her phone.

The driver drove into the compound and opened the door for Erica.
“Thank you” I said to him. He smiled at me and closed the door. The manager personally led me into the restaurant. I secretly blushed. This was what she get when she got married to a billionaire.

Erica sighted Tracy and smiled weirdly. Tracy stood up and welcomed her warmly.
“Hi Erica” she said.

“Hi Tracy ma’am” she replied. They both sat and ate a little before having their chitty chat.

“You’ll be the daughter in-law and wife of a billionaire, how do you feel?” She asked. For a second, she didn’t understand the question.

“Uh… I don’t know ma’am. I feel great” she replied.

“I see..are you going to be happy with Calvin?” She asked.

“I.. I guess so” she stammered again, feeling uncomfortable with the question.

“Guess so? What do you mean? Are you unsure?” She asked.

“No ma’am, I’m not. I just…”

“Erica, I know what’s going on. I’m not a kid. I know you can’t decide between Calvin and Kelvin. But you have to… The wedding is near” Tracy said softly. Erica heard that and shot her eyes wide open. Everyone knew what was happening.

She diverted her gaze away from Tracy and started down at her unfinished food.
“I.. I’m sorry. You are right. I can’t really choose between them. I have a problem Mrs Tracy and it’s a secret, a secret that I can’t even tell my best friend”

“Tell me Erica. I can be able to help you” she said. Erica sniffed in and stared at Tracy. She wondered if it would be nice to tell Mrs Tracy. She hope she could trust her.
