Chapter 29.
At the kitchen..
Mrs qin was busy with the veges choppings. She had cut out the cucumber and springs for the salad.
She returned to the dinning table to pick the rest of the carrot.
After grabbing the carrot, she stopped and raised her gaze only to find Amy on the door post, standing there with a guilt face.
She was wearing a bunny cap and a big peach cardigan that was over her kneels, and her hair was also in a rough bun.
Mrs qin dropped back the plate of carrot on the table and held her waist.
” For how long have you been standing there staring at me?” She asked, filling her face with a scowl.
Amy gulped down nothing as she slowly bent her heads and made her way into the kitchen.
” Alicia!. Answer me!” Her mother yelled making fearful amy stagger in her steps.
She slowly looked up to meet her mom scowful gaze and her heart began to race.
” I..I just came a while ago.” She said, her voice was weak and cracking.
” And you couldn’t come in to help me??” Her mom yelled at her face.
” I’m very sorry.” She said
” Mn!” Her mom scoffed and hastily walked back to the burner where she was cooking.
Amy slowly stepped towards the dinning. She pulled out a chair and her bvtt fell on it hardly, causing a gasp from her.
Her mom quickly turned to look at her.
” Are you okay?” She asked with a confused face.
Amy pressed her lips tight as she shaked her heads nervously.
” Then, Help me cut those carrot since you are less busy” She told her.
Amy stared at the carrot on the table and stretched out her shaking arms to pick the knlfe.
She held the carrot in place but her arms kept shaking as she leaned to cut the carrot.
Her mom stared at her again worriedly as she watched her daughter struggle to cut a piece of carrot.
She came to sit next to her and Amy frantically dropped the knlfe on the floor.
” Alicia dear. Please, is it because of xan left?” She asked.
Amy curled her lips into her mouth avoiding her mother’s gaze.
” Look, Alicia. Xan has left. He is not the only man in the world!. You can’t marry a man who hurt you, the memories will surely come back to hurt you one day. I’m your mother and i know what’s best for you, okay?”
” You don’t know what’s best for me!” Amy yelled, tears had started to trickle down her eyes.
” Do you know why xan came back to be my love, its because fate was trying to mend our past!. Even after what he did, he apologised and he has swore to me that he will change. Why can’t you believe that for once!” Amy yelled, her chest began to break.
” Alicia… i don’t want you running back after you make a big mistake by accepting him.”
” My biggest mistake will be me and xan never getting married. Do you hear me, mother?”
” Alicia…!”
” Mom. What if_ what if you wake up one day and you realise that you are a grandma?” Amy asked, inhaling sharply.
” You wouldn’t dare go to that extent, Alicia. I will rip you apart till I’m satisfied seeing you bI.eed!” She yelled.
Amy pouted her lips, as tears lined down on her cheeks.
A door bell sounded interupting the two. Amy looked up at her mom, their eyes glaring at eachother.
Mrs qin stood up with her raised shoulder and strided towards the livingroom.
She opened the door and met a slim delivery man standing there with a big box with him.
” An order.” He said, stretching it to mrs qin. Her face turned sour.
” An order?. We never did an order. Who is it from?”
The delivery man looked at his paper as he adjusted his glasses.
” Here, it was mentioned that the goods was bought by xan.” He said and turned to look at her.
” Xan?” Her brows squinted.
Amy slowly came into view as she stared at the box in her mom’s hand.
” Let’s see what’s inside.” Amy suggested.
” Didn’t you hear him?. He said it’s from xan. I can’t receive any good as far as it’s from him.”
” But..” Amy stepped forward.
” Stay out of this.” Her mom said and gave back the goods to the delivery man.
” Take this. We don’t need it.” She said.
” No!” Amy screamed and struggled to get the box from him.
” Xan did the order for me. Please, he mustn’t return it.” She said as tears trickled down her eyes painfully.
” Alicia!!. Stay back!!” Mrs qin shouted.
” You stay back!!” She screamed at her still struggling with the box.
Mrs qin turned to the delivery man.
” Just give it to her.” Mrs qin said and the delivery man freely left hold of the box.
Amy held the box tight in her chest and she ran away.
Her mom watched her as she meekly run up the stairs still hugging the box.
She sighed, closing up the door against the hinge.
She climbed up the stairs and went up the stairs. She opened the door to her room and found her holding a phone close to her ears.
” I was able to get it. Thank you so much, xan. I love you.” she said, sniffing with the back of her palm.
She dropped her phone on the bed and kicked the items he had bought for her under the bed.
She laid her body to rest on the bed before dragging up the blanket to cover her head.
Her mom slowly closed up the door and leaned her arm on the nearest wall.
” Something tells me that things are not alright. I think they are hiding something.” She said and heaved a sigh.
