A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 11 – 20

Chapter 17

Wake up, Chloe!

“Wait please, listen to me. I need to be sure my baby is okay.”

“What baby, Miss?”
The other officer I didn’t notice asked.

“A two-year-old, brown hair, blue eyes, he’s been living with Mrs. Porter.”
I said with my heart racing.

“Hey, Shawn.”
One of them called, a tall guy came out of the house. His bronze hair was brushed back, he removed the plastic gloves he was wearing. The bloodstain on the gloves brought h©rrifying images to my head.

“Yeah?”

“Did you find any child or another body?”

“No, we’ve checked the whole house.”

“No!”
I tried to run to the house but two hands held me back

“Sorry Miss but there was no baby in the house, you can’t go in there either.”

“No, no, no.”
I shook my head in tears struggling in their arms.

Nooo.

A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 11 – 20

I was in the interrogation room with three Detectives, the one with the carved beard sat in front of me, the second guy was pacing the room looking impatient, the other Detective was a female.

Her white and black suit made her look sassy, she was resting one hip on the table and staring at me.

My silence was driving them crazy even if they were trying hard to hide it, we’d been in the room for almost thirty minutes and I hadn’t said a word.

No sound left my lips as I cried, the tears kept flowing down my cheeks. I stared blankly at the wall above the bearded Detective’s head.

“How long are we going to wait? It’s been half an hour.”
The one pacing asked sounding agitated.

“Let’s give her more time, she’s still in shock.”
The female Detective told him and I heard him grunt.

“She said her baby lived with the old lady.”
She said sounding concerned.

“How are we sure is true?”
I stopped myself from grabbing a chair to hit him, my hands clenched on my thighs.

Mrs. Porter was dead and Kayden was missing and this lunatic wasn’t helping my situation.

“I was told they found some toys around the house and a baby’s room but there was no child in the house.”
She told him but he didn’t say anything in return, he was already crowning me the suspect.

“We have been here for half an hour, please say something.”
The one in front of me pleaded.

“We can’t help you find your son if you don’t give us the answers we need, your answers might help us find your baby and the murderer.”

I wiped my tears away with the back of my palm and nodded. If my answer could help them find Kayden then I will tell them what they wanted to know, I would tell them everything.

“Water?”
I mumbled hoarsely, the female detective left with a smile.

“Finally,” The idi©t behind me groaned.

She returned with a bottle of water, I finished the water and dropped the empty bottle on the table.

“Are you ready?”
I gave them a firm nod.

“Good.”
The bearded cop exclaimed leaning forward and resting his hands on the table.

“I’m detective Dean Clooney, this’s detective Emily Sanders and he’s Detective James Luc.”
I refrained from eying the last name.

“Before we start, I want you to know this whole conversation is being recorded, it will be best if you cooperate with us.”
Detective Clooney explained.

“Okay.”

Emily brought out a note pad and a fountain pen.

“Firstly, tell us your name.”

“Chloe Simpson.”

“What’s your relationship with Mrs. Porter?”
I told them everything since Kayden was involved in the whole thing.

“So she offered to help you hide your baby?”
Emily asked giving me a weird look.

“Yes.”

“Why aren’t you allowed to visit after nine?”
James asked coming forward.

“Because that’s her bedtime, Kayden’s is 8:30.”
He nodded slowly at my answer.

“So no one knows about the baby except the both of you?”

“Well, not anymore.”

“Can you elaborate on your answer?”

“His father found out a few days ago and my best friend too.”
I didn’t know if I should involve Ryan. Vina threatened him and why would anyone wanna hurt Mrs. Porter?

“Is that all?”
Emily asked scribbling something on her notepad.

“No, there is this guy called Ryan.”
I didn’t care if they were going to lock me up, I would do it for my baby.

I told them everything that happened with Ryan. They all exchanged a look after I was done talking, I knew I was going to jail.

“So, when last did you see him?”
Dean asked.

“Tuesday morning before I left for work.”

“When last did you visit Mrs. Porter?”
James asked.

“Yesterday.”

“Time?”

“Around seven.”

“When did you leave?”

“Ten minutes to nine.”

“Did she call you or did you guys speak on the phone after that day?”

“No.”

“Was she in bad terms with anyone or does someone else visit her?”

“None that I know of.”

“You mentioned that you are protecting your son from the father, things didn’t end well between you two I guess.”

“Yes.”

“Did he threaten to do anything after he found out?”

“No.”

“You said he had some kinda mental problem?”

“Yeah but….”

“Okay, that will be all for now.”
Emily cut in not allowing me to finish my sentence…
